25.01.2022 Oh wow what a break! I hope you got to enjoy some well earned time away from your work or business!! And while I have had a few photoshoots to kick off 2021 already - OMG can’t wait to share some snappies !! - coming back to social media has been a little harder for me this year. You may have seen a few instagram stories, and yes I always love to reply to anyone who takes the time to comment. But, actually posting to my page, yep that’s a zilch So I just wanted to... pop in for my first official post for 2021 to say HAPPY NEW YEAR and let’s get this 2021 party started - for those of us who were a little slower hehe !! That we live our lives always thinking about the next moment and forget that we have a now. Every second of the day we are creating a memory that we will be able to look back on in the future. 25.01.2022 It is really easy to feel hesitant about booking in a photoshoot when you aren't quite sure of what moments you would like captured. 23.01.2022 What are YOUR everyday memories? Some may call it work, but for me... when I "go to work" I experience things others may not. I am given opportunities to meet the most amazing souls and create connections with my clients that are indescribable! Moments like this photograph below that just melts my heart every time I look at it! How grateful I am to have experiences like this in my life all thanks to the beautiful clients I photograph!! My "work" is a beautiful everyday m...emory. You know the memory I am talking about... Those moments that we sometimes take for granted Those moments that we think will always be there Those moments that might be simple and overlooked but so powerful in hindsight Moments that make us who we are. When we don't stop to appreciate what we have, our everyday memories can be missed and beautiful experiences we have in life (like the one pictured) can be overlooked or forgotten. 21.01.2022 That beautiful golden hour light is the main reason why I always make suggestions for what time of day to hold your photoshoot - particularly if it is an outdoor session. We aren’t able to control the weather, but we certainly can utilise the light to our best advantage. If you are wanting that beautiful golden light, then I always recommend holding your session within the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset. There is usually only 15 minutes within that timefr...ame when the sun is at its optimum height and the light is just perfect, just peaking out over the horizon. But, we certainly can make every second of that beautiful light count :) Here is an example of one very magical session held at sunset. 10.01.2022 Last Saturday I not only got to pick up our brand new puppy... BUT... I also got to photograph this AMAZING family who share in my love of a good cup of tea!! Tea is wonderful for it's healing properties, but also because it brings family together and that is exactly what it did Saturday morning <3 I love sharing in adventures with my clients and Saturday's adventures were certainly memories I will never forget! 08.01.2022 It has taken me all day and a lot of tears to come up with the following words but today is one very important day to Wander + Collect. Today is World Alzheimers Day and if you have been following me for a while you would have heard me talk about the significance of this disease in our family. My beautiful Nan - the lady who taught us everything from stitching buttons to hand pressing a hem - was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease a few years ago now and when we were told,... we had known for quite a while that the diagnosis was coming. Nanny had started to forget. But, not in a busy way it was more forgetting about important, everyday things that one just knows - those things that we ALL take for granted. Slowly and quietly our beautiful Nan began to loose her memories. If you know of someone who has this disease than you understand the impact that it has not only on the person like Nanny, but also on their loved ones. I would actually argue that it has more of an impact on those who watch on, those left heart broken at the changes they see in their loved one. However, Alzheimers Disease, while powerful, is only as powerful as you let it be. The memories I have created with my beautiful Nan are memories I will never let her forget because I wont forget them either. Priceless memories of the most amazing woman who showed us what love is all about. Our memories are the most powerful, incredible tool that we possess. Regardless of any disease or diagnosis, we DO have the power to record our memories and make sure that they are never lost. Being a photographer to me is so much more than taking a photograph so much more. To me, it is an honour, it is magic and it is the greatest gift that I can give! Wander + Collect was named after my beautiful Nanny, because Nanny loves to WANDER even though we aren't sure where she is wandering to - "not all those who wander are lost" - and I will always COLLECT memories so that no-one ever forgets who they are and what made them, them. We are all put on this earth to do something and my reason is to collect the memories of those who never want to forget. Happy World Alzheimers Day, and to those who watch on as love ones forget their memories.. dont forget that you can help them to relive moments in time.. Share photos and watch their face light up! 08.01.2022 How quickly did Christmas go by and we are now the last day of 2020 and it just feels like yesterday we were preparing for this time of year! Our moments go by as quick as we let them, because we are always thinking about the next steps in life... where we are going... what we have to do what’s next But, the ability a simple photograph gives us, is to capture a moment to hold onto for the rest of our lives. It freezes time in that moment and allows us to take in all that goodness! Like the memory of your baby growing in your belly.
