24.01.2022 Emma or Wandiera Bay born in 1992 and her birthday was Friday the 13th! Multi champion in dressage and warmblood breed, competed in 2003 Sydney national dressage championships with massive field of horses for a 9 and 10th place with an unfortunate injury she did sustain upon arrival in Sydney - I withdrew from the rest of her tests but she was fully recovered two days after! Her foals all Have her amazing temperament - Wandiera Rhumba, Wandiera rhapsody, Wandiera Toblerone (was Nero) and Wandiera fantango (dec) - massive thank you to Lisa Baker for looking after Emma so well these past years

23.01.2022 Okay I have some photos of a older mare I have which has an old injury to a pastern area causing filling and stiffness - the first photos are when she is not on... the Animal Evolution Care’s In Fusion Ha supplement - the next one is about 5 days after having Ha and the last one would be two weeks after - yes it was as she is shedding her coat but the hair is not that thick when the first photo was taken. I have taken her off the Ha and then put her back on and you can easily see the difference when the supplement is stopped the filling comes back but within a week of supplementation it is improving and then by the second week it again looks like this last photo. I now have all my horses on this as well as animal evolution cares MSM and not only can you see the difference but I can feel it! Love your products #AnimalEvolutionCare I also have all my horses on Inside Out! There is some great Black Friday specials on if you havnt yet tried it! See more

22.01.2022 ** Dressage Issues: Jaw and Poll Problems ** A VERY common problem in dressage horses (and other disciplines) is that there is a reduced mobility of the poll (C...0-C1) and jaw joints which results in a bend at C1-C2. I have crudely circled them in the images. The yellow circle shows the incorrect forced pivot at C1-C2 and the red X is indicating the reduced mobility of the poll (C0-C1) and the TMJs. The bend at C1-C2 is incorrect and will be causing not only discomfort but inhibit performance and mobility. The motions of the poll at C0-C1 (where the head is attached to the top of the neck) includes flexion and extension as well as sidebending. The motion here is very reliant upon local structures such as the immediate bones ie Occiput (C0) and Atlas (C1) as well as local joints such as the TMJs. It is even affected by distant joints such as the sacro-iliacs. Reduced motion of these related joints will reduce the mobility of the poll (C0-C1). One such cause is excessively strong bridle and bits as well as training methods. This puts a huge strain on the poll and TMJs. As a result of reduced motion of the poll (C0-C1), the next joint C1-C2 (made of the Atlas and Axis) begins to flex. This joint should rotate. Flexion and extension here is incorrect. You can see in the two images randomly taken from Google that the neck is flexing at C1-C2 and NOT C0-C1. C0-C1 (the poll) is clearly not moving in either image. Unfortunately this is an all too common finding within the equine world. It causes a lot of discomfort in the horses and hugely affects performance. This discomfort can even lead to gastric ulcers. Improving the mobility is key but since there are issues distant within the body it is incredibly important to mobilise the entire body not just the poll and TMJs. If you notice this on your horse you would be wise to investigate it sooner rather than later.

20.01.2022 *** FACT CHECK *** THE CLAIM - "Feeding baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO3) and oil together will help reduce or prevent hindgut (large intestinal) acidosi...s. The oil protects the bicarbonate from stomach acid so it can reach the hindgut" FACTS Equine stomach acid is hydrochloric acid (HCl) and with a molarity (strength) of around 0.2M and a pH of ~2 (Acid). A 0.2M solution of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda/NaHCO3) will have a pH of around 9.2 (Alkali). Mixing the two together will result in the rapid production of water, carbon dioxide and sodium chloride. NaHCO3 + HCl NaCl + CO2 + H2O If we assumed 2 litres of 0.2M HCl in the stomach, then adding 35g sodium bicarbonate should have a rapid, if transient effect on stomach pH but little or no effect on blood pH. An excess of bicarbonate (e.g. 200g) will result in a systemic increase in blood pH. This would however need to be given by nasogastric tube by a vet and will not affect the large intestinal pH. Adding oil will have no effect. Oil wil not "protect" the sodium bicarbonate from the stomach acid. Buffering the hindgut to reduce acidosis is treating the symptoms and not the cause. Acidosis is caused by bacterial imbalance which can be managed by diet, feeding and probiotic/prebiotics. CONCLUSION Mixing oil and sodium bicarbonate (or any other buffer) in amounts that horses will eat will have no effect on hindgut acidosis.

07.01.2022 Great opportunity

04.01.2022 This is a game changer, especially if you ride a lot of young horses and/or mares. Reward the try. Reward the half try. Reward the horse when it feels like he ...is about to try. It doesn’t matter if the horse gives the wrong answer-if he’s trying, you need to be rewarding. Everything else can be negotiated, but encouraging and protecting a willing heart is so important. A happy, confident horse with self esteem and a sense of himself is a wonderful thing indeed

02.01.2022 Removing Ticks! Smother the tick with meths and allow 10 minutes for it to die. Check it’s dead by poking it to see if it’s legs wiggle. Then grasp it ON the he...ad with secure forceps to ensure you remove the mouthparts. Grasp firmly and pull the whole tick out. Wash the meths off the skin. Sometimes you may still expect a small residual swelling in the area which should resolve in a few days. Ticks like to head for the soft genital areas so check these areas frequently. See more
