23.01.2022 And just like that, the rain clouds parted, blue sky shone through and the Murray - Echuca Probus Group had a rain free farm walk, just before it rained again. Typical spring weather today! Cake and biscuits catered for by the amazing @marney_ellis - Chestnut Choc Torte, Strawberry Hazelnut Tart, Hazelnut Nightingale Apple Tart, Chestnut Ginger Biscuits ! #bestcakes #chestnut #hazelnut #localproduce #farmtour #agriculture #biodynamics #foodeducation #wandiligong #sourcelocal #supportlocal #eatfreshproduce @ Wandiful Produce

21.01.2022 It is hard to describe how unusual and complicated the situation is for our small chestnut farm in Wandiligong. After extremes in heat and dry conditions, we’ve had the fire threat bringing smoke around us and now a pandemic virus that we need to be extremely careful of and act responsibly to reduce its risk. So, although our Pick Your Own chestnuts season is upon us, the decision is to not offer this over Mar and Apr this year. Very sorry to all our repeat customers who lov...e chestnut season, we will miss seeing you again this time, but also the new faces discovering us here. Thank you for all your support over the last five seasons! All the best, play it safe and eat nutritious food! Wandiful Produce

20.01.2022 Our cold narrow valley is officially pumping with spring growth. Warm humidity, rain, sun, rain, sun PUMPING!

16.01.2022 The exquisite work of @thetipsychocolatier . So exciting to see our farm grown hazelnuts, purchased at the @highcountrycomeback a few months back, and made into something this artistic . Totally mind blowing talent and extremely drool worthy. Thanks so much for sharing @thetipsychocolatier #wow #hardwork #chocolatier #artistry #hazelnuts #toogoodtoeat #highcountrycomeback

15.01.2022 A Merry Christmas from us here in Wandi and thank you for your years of support . Chestnut flowers are thick and scented, keeping our bees really busy. A promising harvest for the coming Autumn! Smokey here but so far safe. Dandelion and chestnut honey to rob at some point . Have a safe and happy break ! X

15.01.2022 As a winter, wool jumper, cold air and cold toes loving person, it is hard not to be happy when I see these little hazelnut leaves starting to grow . The white peach with the placenta under it is not holding back and garlic is powering. Thank you winter for the rain. #winterlover #hazelnutleaves #whitepeach #italianpurplegarlic #coolclimate #warmingup #lovethecold #hatetheheat

14.01.2022 No snowman was built today, but it was icy cold out there A kiss from Antarctica

13.01.2022 If you’re in Melbourne, we are coming to you! Packing, cracking, sorting and labelling our hazelnuts as part of the #highcountrycomeback2020 being held this Sunday at The Timberyard in Port Melbs. What a brilliant initiative of @feathertop_wine in particular Melissa Antony, thank you for including our little micro farm in the 100 + stallholders from the north east, it’s going to be HuGe! We have the freshest hazelnuts available and if you compare to supermarket bought hazelnuts, you will be sure to taste how much fresher they are. Nothing beats the real deal! #smallbusiness #microfarm #hazelnuts #freshastheyget #lovehazelnuts #collaborationiskey #thetimberyard

11.01.2022 One of my fave times of year...the smell of garlic, the sound of them breaking free from the soil and the sight of fresh, purple healthy garlic bulbs

10.01.2022 Yum Delicious combination of flavours with chestnuts and huge knives!

10.01.2022 With iso still in full swing and mushrooms galore, a foragers knife is a worthy investment! I have three of these Opinel foragers knives available for $35 or $45 with postage . Send me a message. The best feature of these foragers knives has got to be the brush. Cleaning the soil, pine needles etc off your delicate mushrooms means you won’t have this muck engrained into the mushroom when you get home = heaps harder to get clean. Some great online foragers Facebook groups to join in the community, get help with ID and learn about all the wild food out there to eat . Check out Edible Mushrooms Australia for starters...

07.01.2022 Still can’t believe this actually happened! What a gem of a woman Jane Edmanson is too. If you want to know lots of technical info about growing hazelnuts, I’d recommend contacting these guys: https://www.hazelnuts.trufficulture.com.au

07.01.2022 Thanks so much to all those lovely souls that had chestnuts peeled by us this autumn! Means a lot to have business from locals and not only that but locals that eat and love chestnuts ! Every little bit of money made this harvest season has put a beam of sunshine on this strange and tough time for our small farm. Thanks again.

05.01.2022 Fairy lands popping up in the chestnut grove. So many different mushrooms this autumn with the warm/wet, even frogs croaking away in the leaf litter. Big Nut winner of the day and the broccoli seedlings were finally ready to go in.....Better late than never? We’ll see shall we #wintervege #covidgardening #fairieslivehere #fungi #mushrooms #chestnutgrove #autumn #harvest2020 #shesabitofanoddone #butiloveit #peaceandquiet

01.01.2022 It’s been a roller coaster few days being an evacuee... a tiny, tiny taste of being a refugee. A few tears have dropped from being overwhelmed with thoughts of our native species getting wiped out hectare after hectare, the tonnes of perfectly stored carbon billowing out as CO2 into the atmosphere and the brave men and women on the frontline protecting us from these walls of fire, those that have lost homes and lives, the tears turn up. They popped out again when the caravan ...park owner offered us ‘an extra night on me’ and local friends offered us their unbooked BnB. So much generosity is flowing! 2020 is a new world. It’s one we knew was coming for a decade now thanks to research and science, an awakening moment to what will be normal for our future - more choking smoke and out of control fire fronts, mass movements of people fleeing hostile heatwaves, fire, extreme storm events, drought and more loss of our not so nimble, precious Australian species who are trying to survive against the odds and human stupidity. It’s a new order where the generous, genuinely caring and emotionally intelligent rise up to the top as they demonstrate actual leadership amongst us. Community working together for a better long, long, long term outcome might just start to happen with a crisis like this one. Now home, nothing touched and even a sprinkle of rain, the sheep bleating hello and the vege patch full of carrots, snow peas, a big cabbage to harvest and a small apricot tree with 5 fruit all softening and ready to eat, simple and pure joy. #smoke #fire #climatechange #welcometo2020 #communityspirit #thankyou #pleaselistentothescience #growyourown #pulltogther #notoutofthewoods #homeagain #rainrainrain #communityovercompetition #homegrownveggies #ecoanxiety #ourchildrensfuture #everyonehasarole #nothinglikeacrisistogetyourprioritiesstraight @ Wandiligong, Victoria, Australia
