24.01.2022 A surprise toast proposed by Toastmaster Catherine at Wandin Toastmasters to District 73 Area Director of the year Nola was proposed following welcome by our new President Kristen to commence the 155 meeting of Wandin Toastmasters. Four wonderful speeches presented by Amila, ( Icebreaker) Judy, (Those old blue jeans) Linda (Vincent needed a network) and Rachael (What's your story?) showcased how varied subject matter can enhance the enjoyment and enlightenment of us all. Ou...r innovative Harkmaster report was given by visiting Toastmaster Jo and was awarded the Presidents Award. Such fun, we all hope Jo revisits us soon. Congratulations to our new VPE Annie who introduced a revised Agenda which worked so very well and to time. General Evaluator Marlene was masterful in providing feedback on evaluators and "feel" of yet another wonderful meeting, in which personal bests were again showcased. Simply the best place to be on a Saturday afternoon. Please join us for meeting no 156. See more
22.01.2022 In this amazing Wandin Toastmasters Club, we have a host of champions. Last night our Marlene won the Area R 34 evaluation contest representing Croydon Yarra Valley. CONGRATULATIONS. CONGRATULATIONS also to Haniff who has, since we last met, won third in both Humorous & International contests with his other Club, Parkville Toastmasters, our news always is good news, and the pride is shared and celebrated.
21.01.2022 Our Judy Murphy DTM on Monday night at Lilydale Toastmasters and Annie Martin on Thursday night at Toast of the Country Toastmasters won the humorous Speech Contest 2020. In our galaxy of stars Judy and Annie are shinning brighter than most. CONGRATULATIONS! We your adoring Club members, are so very proud of you both. Hugs Nola
21.01.2022 INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES The enthusiastically adopted theme of our Wandin Toastmaster meeting number 161. Our excited Toastmaster Andrew was determined to use members quotes sent to him, prior to the meeting, when introducing them through the Agenda, as a source of inspiration to all, and so it was. A Toastmaster visiting from Wisconsin, answered her very first Table Topic question with great aplomb and "miles of smiles". Judy and Kristen had opportunity to practice TT respon...ses prior to Area R 35 contest next month. Linda and Haniff also took the opportunity to re-present their winning speeches prior to Area contests. Our Amila shared a humorous Sri Lanka folk Tale. All speeches gave evaluators, Marlene, Sue and Rebecca, the chance to praise and give kindly worded recommendations. General Evaluator Annie too gave a wonderful overview and insight on what had been exceptional, and what perhaps could be included to improve. The vibe created in sharing "Inspirational Quotes" was exceptional, fun and reflected much loved words of wisdom, that matched each known persona. The riches of the written and spoken word celebrated and loudly applauded, by us all. It was a memorable meeting. You could experience all this and more at Wandin Toastmasters. Please join us, and let's learn and laugh together. Hugs Nola Sharp DTM
20.01.2022 HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wandin Toastmasters- 6 years young. Photo shows charter members receiving our Clubs Charter from District 73 District Director Yoke Ching Tan in 2014. At our Clubs first Xmas Party held in Les and Nola's garden. Our Birthday meeting of celebration today included photos and reflections from Club sponsors Judy and Nola. ... The lighting of individual cupcakes with candles that were lit , "Happy Birthday" sang (rather badly) but with great gusto, and then extinguished, concluded the meeting Agenda. So much achieved in six years inclusive of TI Presidents Distinguished Award every year since Charter as a club and individual awards achieved each and every year. A visitor and potential member from Sydney, two Toastmasters from Wisconsin, one from Montreal Canada added to the vibe and were witness to the excellence that was demonstrated, by speakers Kristen. Wilfrid and Rebecca under the guidance of our consummate Toastmaster of the Day, Rachael, with an aptly themed meeting of "GIFTS". Wandin Toastmasters, the best place to be on the second and fourth Saturday of every month, if you want to improve public speaking, increase your confidence with people that love to party and have fun. 11.01.2022 "Pick me ups" was the theme of our meeting on Saturday 8th August. We, experiencing Covid 19 lockdown need that more than anything right now. Suggestions provided by members, walking and appreciating nature, music played loudly, family, laughter, drinking water, and my favourite, chocolate, and flowers all helped set a positive vibe. Speeches presented on Understanding of Vocal variety by Judy was hilarious. Understanding leadership style by Kristen, enlightening, Under...standing your communication style by Andrew a "do nothing sorta guy" was priceless. Sue won the Presidents award for executing her Table Topics segment flawlessly. Our visiting Toastmaster Liz commented the entire meeting had been a "Pick me up" and a pleasure. The phrase of the day "Stop to smell the roses" chosen by Grammarian Catherine was actioned during our meeting. How fabulous it was. You too can experience this and so much more, every time you join us at Wandin Toastmasters the best place to be on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month.

04.01.2022 What has Shrek got to do with a Toastmasters meeting, only those who attended Wandin Toastmasters for our 164 meeting know the answer. Apart from Shrek making an appearance we were bedazzled by a proposition presented by Cora that Wandin Toastmasters (the best Club in the whole world) was chosen by TI to pilot a new way to enhance programming. We learned the "secrets" of Top-Notch Table Topic responses from Marlene . We were delighted to welcome another new member, Annie ...to join Anita, who was inducted at this meeting. "GIVING THANKS" the meeting theme was embraced by all members sharing their gratefulness for positive aspects of their lives, and pride felt that two winners in the recent Area R35 Contest, Kristen and Annie were part of our family. Being at Wandin Toastmasters can be intriguing, it can be mysterious, cause for celebration and is always awe-inspiring, come see what you are missing....very soon. VPPR Hugs Nola See more

02.01.2022 A zest for networking, a passion for words and a flair for mentoring the stage was already set for me to become a Toastmaster. For the uninitiated, Toastmasters is an organisation that helps its members grow their leadership and communication skills. A quick Google search (in case you haven’t done it already) will tell you the benefits of membership, and help you to get it. I am proud member of Wandin Toastmasters, a club in outer east of Melbourne, Australia. One of their ...Continue reading
