17.01.2022 The City of Kwinana has conducted a traffic audit on de Haer Road after residents concerns about the increased traffic. The result is as follows. The City has completed an assessment of De Haer Road in accordance with the City's Local Area Traffic Management Policy (LATMP). The assessment considers a range of factors including: Speed data; ... Traffic volume including commercial vehicle volume; Crash history; Road design and topography; Presence of vulnerable road users such as pedestrian/cyclists; and Activity generators such as schools/retail/train stations etc. This policy guides the decision making process to determine whether roads require infrastructure changes or increased policing. The Policy requires a score of over 50 to qualify for traffic management treatments, while scores between 30 and 50 points warrant attention to law enforcement and driver education. In the case of De Haer Road the score was 39 and 85th percentile speed was 88kph; no crashes reported at the intersection of De Haer Road & Wandi Drive and De Haer Road & Robinson Road, as per Main Roads WA crash data. The daily average traffic volume is 2327 vehicles per day, LOS (level of service) C; however, the capacity of De Haer Road (Local Distributor) is more than 6000 vehicles per day. This score indicates that the construction of traffic management treatments cannot be justified. Whilst the score indicates that the construction of traffic treatments is not warranted in this instance it is recognised that there is a requirement for driver education. As such please be advised that the City will install speed detection signs on De Haer Road to help educate motorists on the speed limit of 80km/hr.

12.01.2022 Email from the City of Kwinana to Wandi Progress Assoc and other community groups. Good afternoon You’re invited to a Recovery Forum being hosted by the Kwinana Local Recovery Co-ordination Group that will focus on ensuring the Kwinana community is well placed to return to normal life as quickly as possible post the COVID-19 pandemic.... The purpose of the Forum is to workshop the Kwinana Local Recovery Plan with local stakeholders from all sectors of the community, so that the Plan remains community led and driven, with local commitment to implementing the actions in the plan. This is the only way that we can impact the effects of the pandemic on the community - by making sure Kwinana is well positioned to take advantage of the recovery stimulus measures that all spheres of government are rolling out, and strengthening our community long term, including ensuring opportunities for our young people are aligned with future job opportunities. The plan for the Forum is to workshop each of the eight pillars in the Plan, build on the actions that are already in the plan, form hands-on working groups to ensure the actions are implemented, solutions are found, partnerships are formed and networks are created. Prior to the Forum we will provide you with a copy of the Recovery Plan and a pack with some resources to assist with the discussions at the tables. Your attendance or the attendance of someone from your organisation would be very valuable. Please also forward this invitation on to anyone else within your organisation that might be interested. Date: Friday, 6 November 2020 Time: Registration 9:15am, Forum 9.30am to 2.55pm Location: Ken Jackman Hall, Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre, Corner Chisham Avenue and Robbos Way, Kwinana Please RSVP (including any dietary requirements and workshop session) to Ash-Lee Slack on [email protected] or 9439 0419. 08.01.2022 The City of Kwinana will soon be even easier to navigate with the addition of a new cycle network, informed by the City’s Bike and Walk Plan in 2018. After funding from the Western Australian Bicycle Network was secured in July, the go-ahead was granted to start the design and construction of two new paths to form part of the complete network. The first two routes identified for design and construction include a portion of Gilmore Avenue from Thomas Road to Chisham Avenue, wi...th construction due to start in 2021. The second area is a portion of Parmelia Avenue from Sulphur Road to Tunnicliffe Street, with construction due to start in 2023. The routes will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for people to walk and cycle across the City, which in turn will improve health and well-being of our residents and increase connectivity between key City locations including local schools. Want to find out more? The City will hold a pop-up information session at Kwinana Marketplace in the space opposite Sportspower on Thursday, 24 September from 12noon to 1.30pm to discuss the proposed upgrades.
