22.01.2022 Great turn up last night for our first run. Special thanks to our under 11’s coach Kristian Lemmar and all the dads who helped the kids train in one group. On a real positive note the club found a secretary last night which now means all 4 executive positions have been filled. We can now start planning for the upcoming season but still need some parents to jump onboard the general committee. ... Once the committee has had a chance to sit down and have a chat we make an announcement on registration day/night so keep an eye out on here for further details. We will also shortly plan a quick information talk where you can not only meet the new committee but fire any questions you may have about the upcoming season. This info session will be important as there has been many changes since our kids last took to the field for existing members and a lot to take in for new members.

20.01.2022 Morning all, With training starting back up tomorrow all members need to adhere to the following COVID protocols to keep all the governing bodies happy. - CHECK IN. There will be a QR code on the office building which needs to be scanned for contact tracing. An exercise book will also be there for anyone who walks/cycles etc to training without their phone. ... - SOCIAL DISTANCING. Spectators are to follow the governments social distancing rules which are currently 1.5meters. - CHANGE ROOMS WILL NOT BE OPEN. Participants are to arrive in training gear ready to train as the change rooms will not be opened to avoid unnecessary indoor gatherings. - WATER BOTTLES All participants are to bring their own water bottles to use during training. The club will not be using any drink caddies. - EQUIPMENT Coaches/committee are the only ones permitted into the storage area where the training equipment is kept. - AFL COVID PLAN A copy will be on display alongside the QR code on the office building. Anyone requiring a personal copy can request an emailed copy from the committee. - FEELING UNWELL. If you or your child are showing and cold or flu symptoms you are to stay home and not attend training. - ROOM LIMITS. On the odd occasion where the office will be open such as registration night the room capacity is 13. Please do not hesitate to direct message any questions or if you need further clarification on any of these COVID rules.

17.01.2022 AGM REMINDER 7pm tonight at LB Davern Reserve.

17.01.2022 Just about the perfect day, our closest away game and the sun was brilliant. It’s fair to say after playing most sides there was a bit of chatter and anticipation from everyone in the league about us taking on Broadford. Even though we don’t keep score in both our age groups other clubs have said us and Broadford are the benchmark in these age groups and both clubs would put on a high quality spectacle. Last months lockdown saw us miss our home game against Broadford so t...he anticipation was even greater. The 9’s was a real arm wrestle with both sides dominating patches of the game and controlling the play. In the end Broadford controlled the game for longer patches but the positive is once again our strong numbers saw us loaning 3 players per quarter to Broadford who all contributed. The 11’s game was built up by the coaches as a massive test with our warriors not only passing the test but doing it in style. The most pleasing thing with this side is how they adapt to the much bigger grounds they face when playing away. More space really highlights the sides ball movement and willingness to find a team mate in the open to tuck the ball under their arm and take off. Next weeks home game against Yea will be a massive day at LB Davern with us fielding under 13’s which is fantastic for the club going forward. Also we’ll have some top age Auskickers having a run in the 9’s plus the bottom age Auskickers will play a mini match in between the 9’s & 11’s game. Ethan Calleja will play his 50th club game as well. Most importantly courtesy of all the hard work by the Bichard family the day will also be our FIGHT MND day. Our young warriors will take the field in FIGHT MND socks. We would encourage anyone who has purchased a beanie to wear them on the day as well. Keep an eye out on our socials for more details later in the week.

16.01.2022 Morning all, The coaches had a sit down last night to discuss this weeks transition round vs Yea. It was decided that the eligible top age 9’s will train with Stuart Butterworth & Scott Greenhorn with the 11’s tomorrow night in preparation to play in that grade Sunday. Our top age 9’s are more than capable of mixing it with older players going by what we see every week, likewise our top age 11’s will adapt very comfortably playing in the 13’s. ... Naturally if there is any concerns from parents we can address them tomorrow night at training. The buzz around the club in the lead up to this concept has been great, from our Auskick families preparing to play club footy for the first time right up to our top age under 11 parents who can see a future going forward with the club having the numbers to enter an under 13’s side in next years fixturing. 13.01.2022 What an awesome effort by the Bichard family. The banners look amazing, Riley has mastered the gangster pose whilst rocking the FIGHT MND socks. Can’t wait for Riley and the rest of our WARRIORS to run out wearing the socks against Yea this Sunday. Everyone involved in the club is honoured and proud to play a small part in this fundraiser which helps contribute towards the great work carried out by the researchers in their aim to find a cure for MND.

12.01.2022 Just a reminder training starts tomorrow at 4:30pm and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday in the lead up to the season starting.

10.01.2022 Evening all, Please be aware of the fixture changes. Round 1 is now starting April 11th. Hopefully it stays as is now.

06.01.2022 What better time to plug our major sponsor than now. With all the tree damage from the recent storms it fair to say Shannan Thomas & Tilly Thomas have been very busy but have still found the time to keep their regular customers happy. If you are ever in need of tree or stump removal, insurance work, general tree maintenance, tree inspection the THOMAS FAMILY TREE SERVICES will have you covered. On behalf of the Wandong JFC we can’t thank the THOMAS family enough for their generous support.

05.01.2022 As per below....Good morning friends and family of the Wandong Warriors. There is a survey / question on Team App in regards to starting up the season again. It is imperative that we all get on and have our say as to weather you want to have your kids playing again or not. Please take the time to log on to Team App (link below) and make your comment count. The results will be forwarded to the League at the end of the week and hopefully we can get the ball rolling again. Please pass this on to all in case they miss it. Thanks everyone. 04.01.2022 To all our Wandong Warriors, Unfortunately, despite the clubs of the SDJFNL brainstorming various ways to be able to get our kids onto the field for a short season in 2020, it has only today been confirmed that we are unable to play in any capacity for the season 2020. This of course is disappointing news and from all the Committee, please know that we really did try to get the kids on the field in some capacity, however, the safety and wellbeing of our kids, members, familie...s and the wider community are paramount and we must follow the guidelines. The Warriors committee will now need to come together to discuss how this impacts the club and we will revert to you all again once we work out the next steps. In the meantime, we look forward to a great season in 2021 and will hopefully be able to bring all our club together in the not too distant future. Go Warriors!!

03.01.2022 A letter from the Club President.

02.01.2022 Morning all, Just a quick update on where the club is positioned. Since the AGM we have had a treasurer come onboard which now means 3 of the 4 executive positions have been filled. The club is still needing a secretary to complete the 4 executive positions plus some general committee positions need filling. A Return to Play protocol has been submitted with the Mitchell Shire council as well as the LB Davern reserve committee. Hopefully we will receive some positive ne...ws from both Mitchell Shire and LB Davern soon with regards to getting the kids back on the field. At this stage if the club gets the OK we will aim to have a couple of summer skill sessions prior to Xmas. This also gives parents a chance to catch up, meet the new committee, ask any questions or hopefully volunteer for any roles that need filling. The club will need to list the Covid protocols outlined by AFL Victoria and Mitchell shire which need to be followed by all members as soon as we hear back from the relevant people. If anyone would like any further information please feel free to message via the clubs Facebook page.
