24.01.2022 Early Version of Dave Wane & The V2s
23.01.2022 I was both thrilled and grateful to receive the award last night in recognition of trifficness. It was the First Annual Award in Recognition of Trifficness. Signed by Her Majesty (almost) and the Honorable Mr Sum Lackey I find it a fitting feather in my cap. We should all strive to out-perform our selves of the past and forge a solid and more competent future.
23.01.2022 Blizzo just keeps getting better and better. Working harder than the rest of us, Blizzo delivered solid sets of acoustic favourites with fancy finger-work and beautifully smooth vocals for the hours before the actual party started. Just the ticket to relax everyone before we bonk them on the head with our particular brand of Rock & Roll.
20.01.2022 Thank you Blizzo for a timely and accurate report on my latest mix. Who knew that he knew so much about mixing and audio production? Every suggestion he made was spot on; more vocal effect, a snappier snare drum, more pop to the kick drum, a bit less bass guitar and clearer cymbals. Yep, those were my thoughts exactly and I thought I had some sort of skill when it came to mixing music. Oh wait, thats right, he used to work for the ABC...
20.01.2022 Petrina & Dave on debut with some great vocals & guitar! Great arrangements!
20.01.2022 Electric Wombat play 7 Nation Army at the Uni Bar Hobart Tasmania
19.01.2022 I have never before witnessed a Piano player that so readily and so easily took up guitar. Adam A has surpassed all my expectations with his playing and in our last session we were joined by Eli his fellow band member who is the lead Guitarist in Adams band. We fleshed out some chords and solos of the new tune they were working on and then just as we finish at logical pause, Eli says to me "not bad for a keyboard player huh?". I had to agree. I thought Adam was a pretty good Piano player but his skills on Guitar have seemed to just flood into his fingers like a high speed download! Well done Adam, keep working your skills like this and you will be a great all-rounder in no time. In fact his music which is available to hear on You Tube, includes ever increasing Guitar solos over tasteful synth work. Im so proud of this guy...
17.01.2022 With the current forced hibernation of the general populace for the next few months, music lessons are going to have to occur online to reduce the spread of Covid19. This is why Im setting up and encouraging my online lesson schedule now. I believe most musical skills can be effectively taught via face-time or Skype, and the threat of infection is eliminated entirely. There is always the very slight chance of the cross contamination of Dad jokes and cheesy tutor humour h...owever, especially if I get half a chance. It may take a little bit of getting used to, but I believe we will benefit long term if students of music continue to rehearse and maintain their skills during isolation. We can all look forward to a time when face to face instruction is again safe to proceed.
16.01.2022 Awesome gig, great wedding.
16.01.2022 Bloody brilliant
13.01.2022 Dancing is currently prohibited during the Pandemic but that does not mean E.O.C will simply hibernate. The band is still practising hard for the day when pubs fling their doors open and dancing to bands is again permitted. A whole new repertoire should make the fans happy.
12.01.2022 The Board of Musical directors, discussing important issues such as what song to play first up. Such in depth and difficult decisions are more easily agreed upon if large amounts of beer are consumed whilst deciding.
11.01.2022 A little late in coming but I finally managed to provide the format and the length of video that Facebook demands to get a bit of film on the splash screen. Gosh it was fussy! I tried to be cute and morph it into one continuous loop by having a cross fade and split the clip in the middle, but that proved a bit too fiddly. Anyways I hope you enjoy the brief shot of Electric Wombat at Utas. Bri and Bella did a great show!
07.01.2022 At first the task seemed insurmountable.
05.01.2022 The view according to the legendary Garry Harrold
04.01.2022 Blizzos' open mic nights are a great platform to try new material.
04.01.2022 As I looked and got used to the signal path, I saw some things that I could put right.
04.01.2022 I found wires off that should be on and wires on that should be off!
04.01.2022 Author WANES WORLD of MUSIC Music tutorials are going well via Facetime and an interesting effect was discovered today. While jamming on some chunky A chords to enable A Dorian improv, Jake and I stumbled across the exact timing to nullify the lag between phones. As long as you dont change chords too often it works quite well. If you chugg along at around 111 bpm the lag seems to disappear and you only notice that the other party is half a second behind if you watch his hands or when you change chords. Otherwise our idea is to keep to the one chord for each scale at 111bpm. trick your brain and hey, lag problem solved...
03.01.2022 Thanks to my client today or launching me back into the recording work. Some excellent new tunes were flowing sweet from this well known Tasmanian artist. I gotta say I was kind of excited to be one of the first to hear them. Definitely some funky influences going on in there as well as some traditional punk styles. No, I wont spoil the surprise but will wait till the official release date for the new album so that everyone can be excited about it too.
02.01.2022 I have to commend my student Jake A for going from bass guitar to master shredder on 6 string electric in only a few months. No one can ever tell me it cant be done now. I have just seen it with my own eyes! And with my own masterful instruction of course helping the journey, but seriously, Jake, well done mate. You have flown against gravity and defied the laws of physics. Now I just need you to slow down just a wee bit so I can figure out what you are actually playing...
02.01.2022 Not satisfied with being surrounded by mixers and sound modules on only three sides, I have started constructing another shelf to put the Roland Guitar synth, various pedals, the Dr Rhythm and the Bass pedal on. Now, as I sit at my desk, I will have at hand all the equipment I own to get the sounds I want. I just have to put in a little gate so I can get in and sit in my music box. This way, all my thinking when Im not in the studio will be "outside the box"...
02.01.2022 Tony and Dom thanks so much for the shout of confidence. I will try to keep up the good work this year and next.
