09.01.2022 Beloved friends, with a heavy heart I want to tell you all that this morning at Chicago Ohara airport, while I was on my way to retrieving my luggage, someone ...stole my beloved Mohan Veena (pictured to the left of me). Security cameras showed a man pick it up and walk out. I've had that Veena more than 20years. There's hardly been a day that I haven't played it. I feel as though I've lost a good friend. I need everyone's help to find it. If you know someone in Chicago, tell them about it. Maybe it will surface on Craigs list or E-bay. Maybe in a music store or Pawn shop. There's no missing it. The Veena is in a Black Fibreglass Case with lots of stickers. And the Veena has 20 Strings, 2 layers of strings running parallel. It has tuning heads right down the neck. No other instrument looks like this. I'm grateful for any help. thanks Harry See more

09.01.2022 With permission from Country Update Magazine I have reproduced an excerpt from their article. Apart from the kind words about me, this a quality magazine and I couldnt put it down. I suggest you pick up a copy every time you see it. I ask my fans to like their Facebook page and to put their website on your favourites page. They will keep you up to date. Love Wx Theres some classy work from all involved but nothing overshadows the personality of Wanita herself. Her emoti...ve vocals cover a broad range and within a few songs can stretch from the coy and sultry through teasing and taunting and even veering into vicious and vengeful, all in all she manages to unleash a veritable kaleidoscope of emotions whilst keeping you stepping around the sawdust covered dance floor. 08.01.2022 Hey Everybody this is the interview I gave for the Swedish magazine before my gig there. Wanita to the Country party! Wow, also this year we get a foreign act o...n our party in Ingatorps bygdegård. This year it is none other than WANITA Australias Honky Tonk Queen, who visits us. This will be her first and only gig in Europe and of course her only gig in Sweden! You can read the invite at the last page on this magazine. Now, let us present Wanita. Wanita grew up under simple circumstances in the little town of Penola in southern Australia. The town has about 1.000 residents and lies about 40 miles south east of Adelaide, in one of Australias better known wine districts. She grew up in a small house next to the Murray river together with her brothers and sisters. (sic) Wanita tells us that her musical interest started at an early age: My musical interest was awakened when I was about four years old. Every day before I went to pre-school I played records, it became a ritual that I followed all through my studies. I noticed how every song was like a fairy tale, began to memorize the lyrics and thus was my love for country music born. What did you listen to? What influenced you? Just about anyone whos authentic and has an original style, no matter if its country, blues, jazz or rocknroll. Im thinking of artists like Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams and George Jones. I got my first guitar when I was 13 and learned to play it the same day. One year later we moved from Edenhope Victoria to Swan Hill, and it was there my musical career began. In less than two years I had won over 30 talent contests around the Victoria region. It led to professional work and that I got to open for and/or perform with other local artists. 1988 Wanita visited the Tamworth Country Music Festival, which is one of Australias biggest country festivals (she appeared there this year in January). Its nowadays a 10-day long festival with over 800 artists. She got to perform there that very first year and she says: It was there that I learned how important it is to be professional if you want to succeed in this business. You gotta work hard to make it. The next couple of years Wanita toured around Australia learning more and more about performing. Ten years later she had a repertoire of over 1.000 songs, and through her experience she was also asked to judge talent contests (while also participating in and winning some on her own). She made her album debut in 2001 with Swingin Rockin Honky Tonkin and ten years later came her follow-up Wanita & Her Honky Tonk Dwellers Live. Wanitas big breakthrough came last year when she released her third record The Original Wanita. A 13-song CD with many autobiographical songs such as A Letter to Mom and Too Country for Country. The record got lots of praise, both in her native country and abroad. It was mentioned as CD of the month in British Country Music People, and some of their writers also had her on their best of the year-list when 2013 was summarized. And lets not forget that we at SCC-Nytt also hailed the record with Lars Thell giving it the highest grade and stating it as among the best music Ive heard this year. When we asked Wanita what shes most proud of she says: Im most proud of being called one of the best in country music here at home in Australia. Are there any certain highlights in your career this far? That was an easy one! Getting to come to Sweden. I would never thought that Smålands Country Club would welcome Australias Queen of Honky Tonk to play for them. Sweden is a country Im always admired, especially for its nature. Its so different from Australia, and I cant wait to see it with my own eyes. When we ask her what we are to expect from her first performance in Europe at Ingatorp in April she states: You are to expect the unexpected and bring your dancing shoes! I guarantee that youll get a real good presentation of Australian country music at its very best. Swedish music is often played in Australia, not necessarily country, but I feel that our countries share an appreciation for good music. Im really looking forward to visiting your beautiful country and to perform for you. I cant wait to meet you! Kisses from WANITA! Wanita will be backed by Sthlm Honky Tonk Band, that consists of very well known pickers: * Floda Lomaeus bass (Alf Robertson, Rankarna among others) * Hessy Eriksson drums (Western Satellites, Barfly among others) * Mats Rosén steel (Rankarna, Lonnie & the Lonesome Riders among others) * Bosse Nilsson fiddle (Red Jenkins, Svengmans Collage among others) * Rolf Wetterskog guitar (Tennessee Five among others) See more
