25.01.2022 Xena has been visiting Parkway Vet since she was a tiny tike. Shes a real character with a social nature so, when she spied a dog walking past home, she decided to go and play...only there was a window in the way. Poor girl is now in a cast for a month

24.01.2022 TGIF! We have managed pretty well this week. Thank you to everyone for understanding the importance of social distancing! Its difficult to do because were all so used to standing closer to each other. It really is a foreign concept but we are very appreciative of the efforts going into following our guidelines. We will continue on with the current measures in place and will let you know if anything changes. ... Also, I just wanted to let you know that an option you may not be aware of is paying over the phone for medications you need to collect. This will reduce time in clinic and surface contact for you. We can also post some types of medications out or mailbox drop locally for at risk folks who prefer to stay home or those in self isolation. Just give us a buzz and well be more than happy to help! As always, take care of yourselves (Cute pic of my puppy just because )

24.01.2022 Introducing Boofhead! This lovely boy is looking to be adopted. Its important to note that he is FIV positive which will mean he needs to be a completely indoor cat and if you have other cats in the household, they will need to be vaccinated against FIV. Are you that special person hes been searching for? If your answer is YES get in touch with reception to organise a meeting!

23.01.2022 Its not often in the Veterinary world that your patients just lay like this for an ultrasound. Little Rocco is the exception! Such a cutie and a very willing participant

23.01.2022 Please see link below for information on a voluntary recall of certain Black Hawk foods. https://blackhawkpetcare.com//black-hawk-dog-food-voluntar

22.01.2022 A couple of the kittens that came in with their mumma! Theyre growing so fast and most have homes (including mumma). Great outcome! #crazyaboutcats #catadoption #kittens

22.01.2022 CLOSED THIS SATURDAY We are very sorry for the inconvenience but we will be closed this weekend due to unexpected circumstances. If you have a scheduled appointment you will receive a phone call from us today to reschedule.

19.01.2022 Update We are still operational and have not been directed to close the doors yet. Its a tricky situation to navigate, thats for sure! I just want to reiterate that our biggest challenge is ensuring that social distancing is adhered to. When you enter the practice, please take note of the blue line on the floor. We really need you to stand behind this line and ensure you remain 1.5 metres from anybody else in the waiting room. ... We have had a few families come in together and we need to kindly request that only one person per family attend your appointment. The only exception to this rule is in the case of euthanasia, in this situation please phone us prior to discuss. As we are running consultations for 2 vets, a family together results in a waiting room full of people and then we are unable to stick to the distancing rules. If you are unwell, have tested positive for Covid 19, travelled overseas recently or had contact with a suspected case, please DO NOT come into the clinic. Please phone ahead as much as possible to organise your visit or to collect medications. Thank you for your understanding and support. If any further changes are implemented we will let you know.

19.01.2022 We have a little story to tell. A few weeks ago, we were approached by an organisation whom had received a young dog into their care. He is a mixed large breed puppy, around 6 months old. His front legs were very malformed. They had whats referred to as an East/West appearance. ... We took radiographs which confirmed Dr Chris thoughts...he had an early closure of the growth plates in one of the bones in his foreleg. This enabled his other bone to continue growing and cause the deformity. So, we adopted him, performed corrective surgery and had a perfect family in mind...they obliged He has been named Bolt and is spending his first weekend at his new home

19.01.2022 It feels like history repeats! We have another FIV positive cat looking for his forever home. His name is Giovanni He is vaccinated, microchipped, desexed and one of the sweetest kitties weve had yet! Being FIV positive means he will need to be a completely indoor cat and if he lives with other cats, they need to be FIV vaccinated. Not sure if he likes dogs, he hasnt had much exposure here. If you think you are that special person/family for Giovanni, please get in touch and we can set up a meet n greet

19.01.2022 Easter is just around the corner and what goes with Easter? Okay...yes chocolate!! But also a bunny rabbit of course! Man-Bun is a very curious Rex rabbit. He loves to explore as many nooks and crannies as permitted. At present, he is being fostered as an indoor rabbit and enjoys playing with two male cats. He would love a home where he could have a friend to adventure with. He loves nose rubs and occasionally sits on laps when not busy playing.... He has recently started to lose his kitten coat and it has been turning from golden into lovely cinnamon. Man-Bun had an accident a few months ago and broke his leg He has now fully recovered from his orthopaedic surgery and has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated. If you are interested in adopting Man-Bun, please contact the clinic. We are looking for a loving home for this special guy.

18.01.2022 Flickety and her babe headed off to their new home today! Such a brilliant outcome

18.01.2022 We currently have a beautiful Japanese Spitz up for adoption. He does have a few requirements in his new home. Casper is 5 years old, desexed and microchipped. He Is a delightful little fella but would really not do well in a home with children under 12 years old. He has had a problem with his hip. There is potential for this to recur but were unable to predict if/when. If you think you could provide a loving home for him please call us or call in to meet him!

18.01.2022 Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health Alert With the unfolding pandemic of Coronavirus, Parkway Veterinary Centre have had to implement measures to ensure the health and safety of our staff and you, our clients. In such uncertain times we can find ourselves feeling anxious and unsure of what to do. We will be keeping up to date with the recommendations as they come to hand. As it stands currently, our action plan will be in line with the Governments recommendations. What you can ...expect from us. - We will be following strict hygiene measures by regularly washing our hands thoroughly with soap and water or alcohol based hand washes. - We are regularly disinfecting all hospital surfaces. - Our staff may wear face masks and/or gloves in consultations or when taking payments. - We will try to distance ourselves from you by 1.5 metres wherever possible. - We will be modifying our seating arrangement in our waiting room to allow for larger distances between clients. Please do not be alarmed or offended by these actions. Our main goal is to have the ability to continue to provide outstanding veterinary care to your pets. What we ask of you: In order for us to remain operational, none of our staff can be exposed to the Coronavirus. This would effectively close us down. - We ask that you please do not visit our clinic if you or anyone you have contact with is displaying any of the Coronavirus symptoms. - As a reminder, this includes fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath. - Also, this will extend to your recent travel activity. If you have been overseas or know that you have had contact with an infected person, please call instead of coming in. - If you are unwell but your pet requires medical attention, please call us for help or organise a friend to bring your pet. - Please limit the amount of people accompanying you to the clinic where possible. In the unfortunate event that we are forced to close, we will keep you up to date via our Facebook page and Website. Take care from the Parkway Team

16.01.2022 Heya! We have implemented new measures due to difficulty with maintaining social distancing within the clinic. We can now only allow 1 person to enter the premises per pet. We cannot accommodate other family members congregating in the waiting room. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we must obey the laws imposed for the health and safety of both us and you. This also applies to children so if you have a sick pet and no ability to organise child care, please call us ahead of your appointment and we can set up a telephone consultation. This will involve you staying in your car with your children while a nurse collects your pet for the examination. We are doing our best to remain operational and we would appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Thanks in advance

14.01.2022 Theres a brilliant little charity organisation in Canberra called ACT Pet Crisis Support. They work tirelessly to help support disadvantaged pet owners gain access to health care for their pets. There has been an increase in need since the COVID-19 situation due to job loss across the territory. ACT Pet Crisis Support are running an amazing Easter raffle and it would be super helpful if you can spare any change to buy a ticket. It would definitely be going to a great cause! Get in quick because the raffle will be drawn on the 12th April 2020. You can buy tickets by clicking on the link below or search up their Website to read more about what they do and find the link there

12.01.2022 Well folks, the snake season is upon us! As summer gets underway, you will be out and about more with your pets. If you suspect or see your pet get bitten by a snake please do not attempt to capture the snake, rather, take your pet to the nearest vet immediately. Most clinics stock a multi anti-venom which covers the 3 main species around Canberra. Snake bite symptoms can occur very quickly (usually in dogs), and in cats can take a little longer. ... Symptoms include: * Weakness and/or collapse * Shaking and twitching of muscles * Vomiting and/or diarrhoea * Dilated pupils * Paralysis * Blood in urine

09.01.2022 Great news! But also sad for us. Giovanni has found a loving home. He is doing really well there and he deserves a beautiful life We will miss him heaps!

04.01.2022 PARVOVIRUS OUTBREAK There are reports of a fairly substantial outbreak of Parvovirus in dogs on the North Coast. Parvovirus is a serious, life threatening disease and is more prevalent in the warmer months. The best way for you to protect your dog from the disease is through vaccination. Please ensure that your dog is up to date with their vaccinations and if youre unsure, feel free to call the clinic and our lovely reception team will be more than happy to help. NB. Both the C3 and C5 vaccines protect against Parvovirus.

01.01.2022 Hey folks! Our online booking system is now up and running! Visit www.parkwayveterinarycentre.com.au Simply click the Book now online button to choose a vet and suitable time. This system caters for consultations including vaccinations but you will still need to phone the clinic to schedule surgical procedures.... Please let us know if you experience any difficulties.

01.01.2022 As the Coronavirus (COVID 19) situation continues to unfold we are having to adjust what we do to keep everyone safe. From tomorrow morning, our staff will be directed to enforce the social distance rule of 1.5 metres. We will be staggering our consultation time slots to decrease the number of clients in the practice at any one time. Our consultation rooms are quite small and breach the distance rule which may result in nurses taking your pet through to the vet for examinat...ion/treatment. We would prefer payments to be made with cards to avoid handling cash. We continue to request that you refrain from entering our premises if you have any of the Coronavirus symptoms, if you have potentially had contact with a person who is positive for Covid 19 or if you have recently travelled overseas. Now that ACT schools are closing, we still request that only one family member bring your pet in as we are unable to facilitate large numbers congregating in the clinic. Please call ahead if you are having difficulty with this and we will advise on the best way forward over the phone. We will reassess the measures necessary to keep us all safe on a daily basis but I can assure you that we are here for you and your pets. Unless we are forced to close, its business as (not so) usual tomorrow

01.01.2022 Shadda is looking for a new home. Shes finding it difficult to live with another three cats, and doesnt like to share. For her peace of mind she needs to find a place where she can be an only cat. Shes a tall, somewhat lanky six-year-old calico girl, desexed, microchipped, and on the NSW Companion Animals Register. She enjoys a good lap cuddle and can be very playful, particularly if not watched. She will roam unless kept indoors or in a cattery, and has no road sense, ...so please only consider her if you have a means of keeping her from roaming. If you would like to give her a home, please call Kerry on 0408115460.
