15.01.2022 We’d like to give a big shout out to the Koroit community for your patience over the past few weeks as our contractor CriTech worked on the replacement of the old water main along Commercial Road. Progress to date has been excellent and the project is ahead of schedule. We originally planned to have the section of main up to Spring Street completed before Christmas as part of stage one. The plan was to return and start stage two in February - after the summer holiday break. ...However, we are aware that Regional Roads Victoria are soon planning to undertake some drainage works in the main street. To avoid even more impacts to the community, we thought this was an appropriate time to postpone the remainder of stage one, pack up at the end of the week, and recommence in February. Working along a busy main street is never easy so we’d also like to acknowledge the efforts of CriTech in keeping everyone safe and ensuring we can continue to provide a reliable water supply for the future. The samples are sent for testing to show if SARS-CoV-2 the virus that causes coronavirus is present in a local community. If fragments of coronavirus are detected in the wastewater of an area where there have not been recent positive cases, local communities can be more vigilant, increase clinical testing, and help health authorities to target public health advice to minimise transmission.
