21.01.2022 Today the Federal Minister for Energy Angus Taylor released an energy roadmap. Not only does the roadmap include an unfortunate watching brief on Small Modula...r Reactors (SMRs) it locks in no new emissions targets and doubles down on supporting and funding fossil fuels. Over 60 groups, representing millions of Australians, made a submission to the federal government calling for urgent action on climate change, supporting renewables and leaving nuclear at the door. The Minister has done the opposite. See more

09.01.2022 In January commercial operations at the controversial Ranger #uranium mine in #Kakadu come to an end. The site needs a credible and comprehensive - World Heritage standard - clean up. Lots of eyes on Rio Tinto. The Mirarr people and an increasing number of civil society and wider stakeholders and commentators are urging both the Commonwealth and the company to extend this set period of works to better reflect the complexity of the rehabilitation challenge and to increase the likelihood of a successful result. #banuraniummining https://sei.sydney.edu.au//ranger-danger-rio-tinto-faces-/
09.01.2022 Did you see this latest video on uranium mining - the fuel for nuclear power - and why it is unwanted, unsafe and unnecessary... Uranium mining in Australia is ...now limited to South Australia with mines in the NT focused on rehabilitation, new proposals in WA unable to get finance and Vic, NSW, QLD, Tas, ACT all have long standing and popular bans on uranium mining. Uranium mining is in decline, as is nuclear power. following lobbying from the Minerals Council of Australia and pr nuclear advocates - this government is trying to weaken environmental laws which would make it easier and cheaper for uranium mines to get started - get informed - stay in touch. https://dont-nuke-the-climate.org.au/uranium-mining/ See more
08.01.2022 The ABC 7.30 Report last night exposed the political intervention of environmental approvals and clearly shows the process that is designed to conserve biodiversity has completely failed. Tjiwarl women, Shirley Wonyabong and Vicki Abdullah from Yeelirrie share a compelling story of their country and connection to the land. Vicky Mccabe If you missed it, watch here; https://www.abc.net.au//last-minute-environmenta/13055866 #environmentallawreform #banuranium #yeelirrie #dontextendapprovals #auspol
07.01.2022 Check out the Australia Institutes report on Mulga Rock uranium mine proposal... a clear finding that uranium mining is uneconomic.... and yep still unwanted and unsafe

06.01.2022 Vale Mr Cooke. A legend. A warrior. A staunch elder who stood up and spoke out for his country in the fight to stop uranium mining on his country. Mr Cooke, in 2011 helped lead a 10-week walk from Wiluna to Perth in protest of uranium mining in WA. From this moment, Mr Cooke became a strong voice and ally in WANFA and ANFA travelling all over the country, sharing his story and inspiring many to stand up and protect country. While he was most comfortable sitting on count...ry, he went out of his way to take his story into the hearts of boardrooms, conferences, government meetings and rallies. His voice, presence and strength will be deeply missed. We send our sincere condolences to Mr Cooke’s family during this sad time. May we all hold the memory of his great spirit in our hearts forever.
04.01.2022 A very different national gathering for the wonderful Australian Nuclear Free Alliance (ANFA) crew this year but as energising than ever! Such a joy to see and ...connect with excellent nuclear-free folk from all around the country. Aunty Sue Coleman-Haseldine welcomed everyone saying "ANFA is a big family, together we can do really big things" Its so true, the ANFA network has been a part of so many huge outcomes and there's plenty more on the boil for 2021 See more

02.01.2022 The clock is ticking loud on operations at the Rio Tinto Ranger uranium mine in #Kakadu Now we need to see a more comprehensive and credible approach to rehabilitation. The mess is easy to make - it's the clean up that matters. #banuraniummining #nouraniummininginWA
01.01.2022 Yeelirrie ~ It's an approval that occurred on the eve of the 2019 election, which most expected the Government to lose. And it occurred following intervention by the Canadian mining company, Cameco and then-resources minister Matt Canavan, both of whom asked the process to be expedited. #Yeelirrie #banuraniummining #protectcountry #environmentallawreform
