19.01.2022 Bugger, we woke this morning to rain in Busselton. It’s not a massive downpour but enough to be a pain. Oh well, it’s not the first time an opening ceremony has been hit with a bit of weather. We will press on. Team photos this morning before we all line up and march on in front of (hopefully) some friends, family and local Busselton people. After a bit of officialdom including the handing over of club and facilities from the Busselton Bowling Club to the Australian Police B...owlers, we will commence the battle. Today Victoria will play Western Australia, New South Wales play South Australia and Queensland play Hong Kong. This afternoon sees the commencement of the Fours Competition and the Associate Pairs ( Pools A and B ) The complete program is attached. Good bowls to all. Sludgey. See more

09.01.2022 Well here we are again on the verge of the launch of another Police Bowls Championship Event, the 61st as it turns out. I have been down here in Busselton WA since Sunday and have been working closely with the fantastic Busselton Bowling Club crew of volunteers who have already done so much to prepare their club for the onslaught of about 150 bowlers from around Australia and another 51 from Hong Kong. Thanks to the WA team members who helped yesterday in preparing the gift ...bags and other set up tasks. We have our standard Charity Day today where we will have two games of 11 ends in the afternoon. The day acts as an excellent Roll up opportunity whilst raising money for Police Legacy. Our combatants from all over have begun to roll into Busselton and it is so good to catch up with our friends before the fierce rivalry begins. The WA side has been hit recently with the withdrawal of Bernie Hett, Dave Vinicombe and Kieth Guelfi but our selectors have crunched the numbers and found more than suitable replacements to help us to have a crack at the title. We welcome Wayne Molloy, Margaret Booth, Paul Walker, Egon Miko (sorry mate but your actual last name sucks) Lesley York and of course Steve Stumpy Collins to their first carnival for WA and trust that, once bitten by the bug, they will attend many more. My gorgeous Nancy has become a regular at this event and will be down to join us on Saturday evening and all of next week. So as they say, Let the games begin. Sludgey... See more
