13.01.2022 Today our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of one of WA’s longest serving police commissioners, Brian Bull who passed away yesterday, aged 87. Born in 1933 and raised in WA, Brian was a WA Police officer for more than four decades. He started his policing career as a cadet in 1949 and served in the metropolitan area before moving to the Criminal Investigation Branch in 1960.... In 1984, he was in charge of the Fraud Squad and also promoted to the Inspector. In the same year, he was successively promoted to Chief Superintendent, Assistant Commissioner and then became Commissioner of Police on March 1, 1985. He held this role for nine years before retiring in 1994. During his term as Commissioner, the WA Police Force grew rapidly and a number of specialised branches and sections created to deal with ever-changing and more complex patterns of criminal behaviour increased. Thank you for your service. We Will Remember

11.01.2022 Today we remember Constable Gary Keppler who died on this day in 1995. Constable Keppler was participating in a timed run activity with his other squad mates. Having just completed the run, he collapsed on the lawn outside the entrance to the Gymnasium and sadly was unable to be resuscitated. Whilst at the Academy he contracted Glandular Fever and was regrettably back squadded into the following recruit squad 11/95 due to the medical condition. He was subsequently medically c...leared by the Treating Practitioner to return to duty prior to 8 November 1995 with no limitations or restrictions recorded on his medical certificate. Thank you for your service, We Will Remember

10.01.2022 SUPER GRADUATION Last night, 119 new recruits were officially welcomed to the WA Police Force in a Super Graduation ceremony. It was the largest ceremony in recent WA Police Force history, followed by the Super Graduation in July.... The four squads, Red, Gold, Blue and Grey were welcomed by Commissioner Chris Dawson, Premier Mark McGowan and Police Minister Michelle Roberts. The recruits, including 78 men and 41 women range in age from 19 to 51 years. Nine police officers were also recognised for outstanding acts of bravery in separate incidents in Regional WA. The incidents include the fatal shooting of an armed offender in South Hedland, the rescue of an eight-year-old boy from a burning house in South Hedland, and the arrest of an armed offender in Esperance. Well done to all!

09.01.2022 The WA Police Union has welcomed the McGowan Government’s announcement of a Police Compensation Scheme. The new Scheme provides an exit payment, an additional payment for re-training and importantly, the maintenance of all current medical entitlements. WAPU President Harry Arnott said the scheme had been a long time coming with Governments all of stripes failing to find a workable solution until now.... "Today, is a landmark moment for the health and safety of police officers and their families across our great State," Mr Arnott said. 08.01.2022 Congratulations Green Squad 06/2020! These 28 new constables graduated from the WA Police Academy last night after 25 weeks of intensive training at the WA Police Academy. They are now ready to confront the demands of policing, beginning with compliance checking as part of the COVID-19 Self-Quarantine Assurance Team....
