19.01.2022 CAPO STATES 2020 Male Masters The Jim Ambrose Perpetual Trophy has established itself as the premier competition for Masters in Australia and it has only been w...on by 3 men in the 5 years since it’s inception. Henry Day x 2 Jim Ambrose x 2 Garnet Gregory x 1 This year it is wide open because no former winners are competing! There have been a number of interstate lifters attempt but so far they have all failed to beat the ultra competitive WA Lifters on their home turf. This year it looks like the battle in WA will be between George Napper and Aaron Køhn who have both moved up a weight class and their strength has moved up with them! Aaron into the 110s and George into the 125s. George is coming back from a neck injury but his experience at Worlds in Finland last year gives him a slight Powerlifting comp experience advantage over Aaron Køhn but Aaron has years of bodybuilding competition behind him and a slight Glossbrenner Age Coefficient to boost his score. Masters Winners are decided by their Total multiplied by a coefficient for Bodyweight and then multiplied again by a coefficient for their age. The older you are, the higher the coefficient. George also has a side challenge with Gary Jones in South Australia for the Push Pull Total - Weight on the Bar - no coefficient. This takes away the almost 10 year age coefficient advantage from Gary who will be 56 against George at 47. Gary will need every bit of that age coefficient to have a chance against 50 year old Peter Launer and 48yo Francisco Dullona at the SA Comp. Gary has elected to compete with bare knees in the pursuit of Raw Records (because Masters love Records) but he may regret that decision if it costs him a podium position against the younger lifters. Peter has been training hard at Guns n Buns in Kadina and is rapidly gaining strength and it will be great to see the return of the light weight superman, Francisco, for the first time since 2016. His triple Bodyweight Deadlift could drastically alter the outcome if he chooses to enter Masters rather than Open. Peter has consistently improved every time he competes and he could be squatting and deadlifting over 250 for a mid 600s Total. If his Bench has also grown there could be a very close finish.

14.01.2022 Dad (Frank Lamp) started his Powerlifting Magazine back in 1977. So passionate was he about the sport of powerlifting he felt the need to share as much info about this wonderful sport as was possible. He was always looking for angles to grow the sport - whether bombarding the state and federal governments for grants and funding for lifters or trying to get the newspapers and TV stations to publish/film some upcoming PL event. He was like a dog with a bone - never gave up. Da...d died last year so I think it my duty to pass on some of the history that was created and recorded in this era - its pretty basic info - no internet back then - but numbers are numbers - and its worth a read. I will try to send out 1 publication weekly. I was lucky enough to have lived through this period... the infancy of powerlifting in Australia .. it was RAW back then. He was an inspiration. See more

We can confirm one o...f Australia's best female lifters Sarah Rodwell will be making her debut on West Australia soil at this years event. Sarah, who resides in Darwin, has featured prominently across a range of strength sports including Mass Wrestling, Arm Wrestling and Strong Women... From memory I think her last powerlifting event was at the ProRaw event "Wild Cats" held in Melbourne 12 months ago - this event show cased Australia's best female lifters under 75kg as a curtain raiser to "Big Dogs".
