25.01.2022 Day 9 Arriving late into Mt Dare at the end of day 8 we set camp. The next morning we donated $50 to the royal flying doctors and very proudly hung a MyRep shirt at the iconic roadhouse. Then off via the Binn’s track (amazing drive) to Old Andado Station(Molly’s Hut) a house left in time after molly died. This is an awesome experience and we highly recommend you visit. Then off to Lambert’s centre at the very centre of Australia. Ending our day at Eldundra roadhouse on the turnoff to Uluru.

22.01.2022 Day 10 Uluru. Wow...you really can see why this is such a special place. We explored the area, found an awesome free camp then headed off for a 2 hour Segway tour of the big fella. WHATANEXPERIENCE!! Tina practiced her rapid dismount skills (she stacked it) on a boulder but all in all we had an amazing experience. Then off to a nice relaxing free camp for a few quite ones in the bush.

21.01.2022 Day 13-Day 14 Alice Springs We spent a couple of nights In a cabin at the Alice Springs Tourist Park .... bit of respite from swagging up and down every night. Couple of outings to the Gillen Club and Bojangles and a wander round the town shops and galleries. Oh ... and Steve discovered Edy’s Ice Cream Shop - twice ! Bucket list item - Akubras purchased. We called into Desert Dwellers ‘if we don’t have it - you don’t need it!’ just to see if there was anything we needed and Megs did a sales call at TJM - was lovely to meet Sandra and her team. Couple of washes for the Prado and all the moving parts tinkered with and tightened ... ready for our trip to and across the Plenty Highway back to Qld.

19.01.2022 Day 20 Longreach to Gladstone Turning for home - a big day’s drive leaving Longreach for Barcaldine to see the Tree of Knowledge on the eve of the Labour Day weekend. Shame there wasn’t a pre-poll booth there so we could vote. Continuing east heading out of Jericho we started to see hundreds of small termite mounds that people had dressed with various t-shirts, caps and even a sombrero ! Waved through a few small towns and then into Rubyvale to see if Jason could remember ...is family’s claim sites that he visited as a kid. Detailed instructions from cousin Todd by phone ... and we were in the general area, and a stop at the Rubyvale Hotel for a delicious lunch. The scenery as we approach the coast is still so green ... but much more what we are used to - less mulga and saltbush and more gumtree’s and natives. Thicker denser bushes with mountain ranges more frequent now. We legged it through to Gladstone for a motel night ... with a big bath ! We were planning to make it home tomorrow night ... but we are procrastinating and have just found another adventure for tomorrow instead ! What an adventure! See more

17.01.2022 Day 16 Tobermorey Station to Boulia Lazy morning pottering around Tobermorey Station. Short drive today .... only 250k’s along the Plenty and Donoghue Highways to Boulia. Prinnie driving today ... no rush along the sharp rocks then the lovely sealed roads. ... We had a mission today ... to find the Station workers along the road and deliver them a message. We came across them repairing a cattle grate along the highway to stop their cattle from wandering next door. Still so much green all along the highway and washouts from massive amounts of water ... amazing scenery that we are very lucky to see. Stopped to chat and make a donation to a crew fundraising for Prostate Cancer ... touring on postie bikes from the Gold Coast - think the Plenty’s gonna give them plenty of punctures. Into Boulia Caravan Park ... lovely green grass carpet floor here with water views on the banks of the Burke River. Late lunch and a restful arvo ... ready for our trek to Longreach tomorrow. Still plenty of flies about and the mozzies and midges have welcomed us to town tonight ... and a little guest on the swag penthouse !

15.01.2022 Day 12 Kings Canyon to Alice Springs for a rest and recharge in a cabin for a couple of nights... 280k’s about half on gravel with corrugations and plenty of traffic. Megs was up early to meet the sun for Anzac Day from the top of the hill ... gorgeous views and a bit chilly. 3 1/2 hour drive into Alice along Larapinta Way. Beautiful colours with more gum trees and less salt bushes and mulga ... very pretty drive with the ranges along the right and flats to the left. ... Saw some wildlife today ... dingo, horses and donkeys ! Checked into our nice little en-suite cabin at the Alice Springs Tourist Park .... ex-Sydney Olympics donga - a nice respite from putting the swag up and down every night. Off in the courtesy bus to Gillen club for dinner ... it was steak night after all ... however they ran out of steak ! Couple of drinks and back on the bus to a quiet rum in our little home.

11.01.2022 Day 11 part 2. Exploring Kata Tjua then off to Kings Canyon for a free camp high on a rocky escarpment. What a view, what a drive, what a day

11.01.2022 Day 11 part 1. Off to explorer Kata Tjua (Olga’s) what an amazing part of the world. This is also an extremely spiritual place.

11.01.2022 Days 6, 7 & 8 we spent crossing the Simpson Desert. I have to tell you this was an amazing experience that we will cherish forever. We were so lucky to see the desert after rain, the colours are amazing but as a result of rain the flies were increasingly bad. So we spent less time in the desert than planned. In the middle of the desert I asked my amazing lady Tina for her hand in marriage...and she said YES. So I am the luckiest man alive

10.01.2022 Day 17-19 Boulia to Longreach Out of Boulia and on the road again to Longreach. Gorgeous green all round and crazy amounts of birds of all sizes walking along the road and flying into the car as we go through the Hamilton Channels. Bit like little sand dunes ! Again the scenery is very very green ... unusually green and there are pretty wild flowers along the road’s edges. Plenty of water through here too with washouts and boggy road edges. ... Passed a few road trains loaded with cattle ... very skinny one lane roads most of the way ... makes it interesting sometimes to get out of their way. Lunch stop at Winton and a quick walk through town then back on the road to Longreach. Road to Longreach ... wide open spaces of green either side - we travelled alongside the railway tracks. More lovely colours ... more cows and some sheep also today. Checked into a cabin at the Longreach Tourist Park... another nice little break from the swag again. Wandered through town to stock up supplies, and spent a couple of days visiting the Stockmans Hall of Fame and the Qantas Museum, and took in a Thomson River Cruise experience with a Stockmans camp dinner and show. All wonderful experiences. Overall another lovely couple of days in the outback before we head for home. What an adventure!

05.01.2022 Day 4 what a cracker of a day we’ve had in Birdsville. Pottered around camp this morning ... wander around town to the visitor centre and Birdsville Bakery for a pie lunch and then to the Birdsville Hotel to quench our thirsts. Steve chats to a guy and the next thing ... we’re boarding an 8 seater single prop plane for a fly over the green and wet landscape around town and Big Red ! Back to the pub for a great big yummy dinner. What an adventure we’re having !

05.01.2022 Day 15 Alice Springs to Tobermorey Station Headed out of Alice along the Stuart and Plenty Highways towards Tobermory Station for a bush camp. What gorgeous scenery - clearly there’s been plenty of water through here ... very green road edges and well into the bush. Amazingly green for a road signed Outback Way !... Lunch stop on the banks of the (non flowing) Marshall River ! Plenty to see ... dingo, cows, galaghs, goanna, gorgeous green grasses and trees and the amazing blue cloudy sky ... and a huge termite mound ! We arrived at Tobermory Station ... 4 weeks ago this place was flooded in excess of 2m. They had a lot of damage and lost machinery and some cattle ... but the camp area was tidied up enough for visitors. They’ve got plenty of rebuilding to do. We met some fellow travelers ... who are neighbors of my parents in Maryborough ... what a small world ! Megs got a fire going and made his BEST damper ever ! What an adventure!

03.01.2022 Day 5 and today we spent the day exploring Birdsville and playing on Big Red. Tina conquered big red today up the middle...good job mate. The flies are feral but we all had an awesome day
