24.01.2022 On the last weekend in October Peter Fegan, Kristy and Mike Battaglia will participate in the '48 for a mate' challenge. The trio will attempt to complete a physical activity every four hours for 48 hours. The grueling schedule includes 5km runs (including one at midnight); a 20km indoor exercise cycle and a run, four times up and back one of the steepest streets on the northern beaches, Alexander St at Collaroy. Their goal is to raise at least $10,000 for LIVIN, a group set ...up to break the stigma around mental health by connecting, supporting and encouraging one another to talk about their feelings and challenges. You can get involved by participating in the challenge via the '48 for a mate' facebook page or donating to this fantastic cause via the link below. https://www.mycause.com.au/page/236269/48-for-a-mate

22.01.2022 Do you experience diabetes-related anxiety? If so, you are not alone. This week is Anxiety and OCD Awareness Week and is an important reminder that this is som...ething that impacts on many people with diabetes. In small doses anxiety is the body’s way of alerting people to a potential threat. For most people, anxious feelings go away after the threat has passed. But for some people, the fear becomes so intense and long lasting that it starts to affect daily life, including work, school, relationships and diabetes management. While the relationship between anxiety and diabetes is not fully understood, it is a known part of diabetes distress and is not uncommon for people with diabetes to experience higher levels of anxiety and worry. Remember, support is available. If you are experiencing anxiety and believe it is impacting your every day life, please reach out. You can read about diabetes distress here: https://www.ndss.com.au//fin/diabetes-distress-fact-sheet/ If you would like to speak to someone, you can call our Helpline to speak to one of our friendly and experienced team members on 1800 637 700. 01.01.2022 Why Wearing a Mask Helps Stop the Spread of COVID-19. Face masks are a powerful tool because they block the spray of droplets from sneezing, coughing, talking, singing, or shouting when worn over the mouth and nose. Without a mask, droplets can land on the mouth or nose of nearby people, potentially leading to infection. Face masks therefore serve as barriers that help stop the spread of droplets travelling through the air. #WorldMaskWeek #maskingforafriend

01.01.2022 Today we launch the 2021 Back to School campaign. The campaign is a key health initiative to support and improve the education and information for parents and c...arers of children with asthma. We look to ensure families take the correct preventative steps to manage asthma over the holiday period, so they are ‘asthma ready’ for their return to school. The campaign will run from 18 January until 26 February 2021 and will communicate an asthma prevention and preparation message that encompasses the importance of year-round childhood asthma management. We are working with health professionals and schools to ensure they have all the relevant information and processes in place and consistency when it comes to asthma care, particularly in the case of an emergency. To read more information about the back to school campaign and how to manage asthma in children, take a look at our campaign page https://bit.ly/2JIikP5
