23.01.2022 From the bath at Waratah Hills Homestead. Hear that? Nothing. No noise. Beautiful stained glass window to admire (all steamed up), hot water and sooooo relaxing.

23.01.2022 Big Drift ... a sandscape at the Prom? Really? Yes! It is accessed from the Stockyard campsite right at the gates of the Prom ... that's only 18 MINUTES from Waratah Hills Homestead! One thing the pictures don't do justice is the size of this place and the emerald green of the farmland right next door.

22.01.2022 Port Albert - WOW! If you are heading out for a day trip from Waratah Hills Homestead ... perhaps to the Port Welshpool Long Jetty or Yarram for the Heesco mural project ... then take a small detour to Port Albert. You won't be disappointed!

21.01.2022 We were sad to have to call our prospective guests at the beginning of both lockdown periods and arrange dates into the future for their stays. All guests were very understanding and we look forward to welcoming them when travel is allowed and safe. One family from the Yarra Valley should be at Waratah Hills Homestead RIGHT NOW, but Corona Virus had other ideas. The creative children in this family decided to create Fish Creek in their backyard, make a campfire, play some nature sounds and pretend ... what a blessing to have imagination, family and marshmallows, even if they are not where they want to be xx

21.01.2022 Another beauty in Yarram!

21.01.2022 My new favourite hike at Wilson's Promontory ... should I tell you or keep it a secret? My new favourite hike at Wilson's Promontory ... should I tell you or keep it a secret?

15.01.2022 While you're day tripping from Waratah Hills Homestead, why not add Yarram to your list. A new set of murals by brilliant artist Heesco has put Yarram on the map. Well worth a visit to see these public works of art.

13.01.2022 Foster is a 20 minute drive from Waratah Hills Homestead. It's the largest nearby town. The playground at the Foster Showgrounds/footy oval is excellent. Lots of different climbing, sliding and swinging options plus a Casurina nature play area right next door, a basketball half court, the space of the oval, toilets, a netball court, a mural on the wall of one shed and the home of the famous Foster Market which runs most long weekends from Melbourne Cup to Easter. To book at Waratah Hills Homestead to enjoy the amazing South Gippsland region go to www.homeaway.com.au/holiday-rental/p9149134

13.01.2022 I've posted about Wilsons Prom Cruises previously ... they have a $99 special on at the moment. Purchase tickets and you have 5 years to use them. A family of four saves $112!

13.01.2022 WOW! After being asked by guests countless times over the past 6 years if there is a taxi/shuttle/bus service to a local eatery/drinkery ..... I can finally say YES!

13.01.2022 A great day trip from Waratah Hills Homestead can include a trip to the Long Jetty in Port Welshpool. Rebuilt just 18months ago after a fire burnt it down, there is information about the history of the jetty, great fishing off the end of the jetty in Corner Inlet and keep your eye out for mega Stingrays gliding underneath you as you walk above. Fish and Chips are a good option in Port Welshpool for a lunch stop, plus there's a playground, skate park and shell hunting too. Fishing vessels go in/out from the commercial jetty (next to the Fish and Chips shop) so you can wave to the sailors too.

11.01.2022 Sustainability is important to us at Waratah Hills Homestead - especially with many guests only staying a couple of nights. We offer ‘Who gives a crap’ toilet paper, tissues and paper towel. We offer reusable kitchen cloths and our cleaning products are Earth Choice.

09.01.2022 I've posted a little about day trip destinations from the Homestead over the past week. This is another that ties all three destinations into one complete day out. Agnes Falls - Long Jetty Port Welshpool - Yarram You get some nature, fish and chips for lunch at the jetty and then some art in Yarram before returning to the burning fire at the Homestead or a table at the Fish Creek Hotel!... Agnes Falls is in the hills above Toora. The wind turbines are another attraction in these hills.

07.01.2022 The Prom is open again to Regional Victorians ... and so is Waratah Hills Homestead. Book your weekend escape now!

07.01.2022 The next long weekend is for the AFL grandfinal. Just two weekends away. Regional Victorians can travel - this weekend is available at Waratah Hills Homestead - but get in quick, it won't last long!

06.01.2022 My posts have been all about food lately! But there is so many eateries just a short drive from Waratah Hills Homestead. In Regional Victoria? You can book your escape now! In metro Melbourne? Plan ahead ... January school holidays are nearly all gone (only about 6 nights remaining). ... Jump in quick or grab a weekend in February xx

05.01.2022 OK, OK ... my new favourite hike at the Prom is from Darby River to Tongue Point via Fairy Cove. Amazing. About 10km all up. Just go to Fairy Cove if you have little ones. Our 8yo and 10yo made it to Tongue Point and return. A good track all the way. Clearly signed and with the promise of seals playing in the waves around Tongue Point (which looks exactly like it sounds) and the possibility of whales (we didn't see them but some hikers did that day). Of course, sensible rules apply - bring your own food and plenty of water, first aid kit (there's one at the Homestead you can borrow if you need to) and enjoy the views!

04.01.2022 You know it’s Christmas when ... Even the natives are ready to welcome all our Christmas guests at Waratah Hills Homestead!

02.01.2022 Ever been to a rental home and not had enough cutlery to go around? We stayed at one once when there were only three of each cutlery type ... for a family of four ... in a house that slept six!! At Waratah Hills Homestead you'll find plenty of cutlery and my newest 'thing' ... a collection of commemorative tea spoons which I'll be adding to over time. Some are from my grandma/nan/great aunts and others I've been collecting over time. Book in via homeaway.com.au to enjoy the tea spoons!!

02.01.2022 The cafe at Sandy Point is open and offering a great selection including breakfast, coffee and sweet treats as well as a bar menu and drinks (plus a happy hour!) What more can you want! Just 10mins from the Homestead you could head there for coffee after a morning walk on Waratah Bay or for lunch or a drink after a day at the Prom!
