25.01.2022 Road resurfacing works will be happening on the Murchison Highway, Yolla, from Monday, November 16. The Tasmanian Government is funding maintenance work on the Murchison Highway between Mount Hicks Road and School Lane. The Department of State Growth will carry out the work, which includes water-blasting and line marking. Works will occur between 7.30am - 4.30pm on Monday, November 16 and are expected to completed in one day, weather permitting. There will be some tempora...ry traffic changes to ensure the safety of workers and road users. Lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place during work hours and may affect travel times. One lane will remain open during work hours. Motorists should allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time during this work. Please keep to speed limits and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signs. See more



25.01.2022 The number of cars on site are increasing as the Wynyard Yacht Club project moves through the milestones. The screw piling (in preparation for the foundation) has been completed and the next stage of the project is ground slab works and in-ground services. The contractors will take a break over Christmas, after which we will continue to notify you with updates.

22.01.2022 Works to replace the bridge at Port Creek, Old Bass Hwy, East Wynyard, are planned to begin on October 5. The replacement bridge will bring the bridge up to compliance with modern-day loading combinations and it will be widened by 2.6m to accommodate the North-West Coastal Pathway. To alleviate some of the disturbance Council will open a temporary link road between the western end of Walker Street, East Wynard and Tom Moores Road. This will provide one-way access from East Wynyard to Wynyard between the hours of 7am and 7pm for the duration of the works, which is five weeks. 21.01.2022 In an effort to reopen the Wynyard Foreshore Market the following steps have been taken: - Compliance with a COVID19 Safety Plan - Designated entry and exit points - Monitored patron numbers... - Defined boundary for the market - Controlled space to limit numbers (3981 square metres, allowing 1990 patrons. Currently limits restrict outdoor gatherings to 500 participants only) - Public footpath left open to enable the community to move through the area, maintain personal social distancing and not be counted in market numbers. 21.01.2022 Council has been made aware of unauthorised removal of remnant native vegetation near the Sisters Beach Creek mouth. As Council is currently undertaking and facilitating erosion mitigation revegetation works in the area, the unauthorised vegetation removal is a matter of concern. The Active Kids Grants have been established with the aim of providing every child with the active childhood they deserve, by supplying them with the equipment they need to participate in sporting activities. Today, we mark the event by observing one minute of silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. Since 1985, the Boat Harbour Beach Surf Life Saving Club has continually patrolled the beach for the benefit of the general public. 04.01.2022 In September we shine a light on childrens cancer by raising awareness and funds for ongoing research. Apart from the Kids Cancer Project, Canteen is also active in this area. Council will demonstrate its ongoing support for this cause by changing the coloured LED in the main entrance of the building to gold for the month. http://ow.ly/XPC150Beeg5

04.01.2022 We're happy to see the Wynyard Yacht Club's newly replaced life jackets ready to go! Council is proud to have supported the Yacht Club by funding their acquisition.

04.01.2022 Rhodry was a great mate for his friend Rhys, who died in June this year. The pair were at school from primary school and did nearly everything together, including running the last two Burnie Tens. Rhodry is now raising money for the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC) who helped Rhys so much in his life. Rhodry will complete a 40km run from Wynyard High School to the start of the Burnie Park run and back to Wynyard High School on Sunday, October 4.

03.01.2022 Stubbs Construction has started preliminary site works at the Wynyard Yacht Club. Existing access to the boat ramp and parking will remain for the time being, but it is limited. Boat users, please consider alternative boat ramps such as Jenner St, Sisters Beach and Cam River. Well keep you updated on access throughout the project. Wynyard - Rural Health (33 Goldie St) has a parenting change room, which they already clean and service. They also have bottle heating facilities. If Mums wish to feed they can offer a private room or they can use the lounge area. There is rear access for those with prams. - Dixons Pharmacy (112 Goldie St) has facilities for parents.... - Both the Saunders St Clinic (37 Jackson St) and the Wynyard Medical Centre (138 Goldie St) have facilities for patients of the practice. Somerset - Somerset Medical Clinic (33 Falmouth St) have facilities for patients of the practice. Waratah - Arrangements can be made with the friendly staff at the Council Office (Smith St).

02.01.2022 It's disappointing to be learn that an old dishwasher and a bar fridge have been dumped at the entrance to the Postman’s Track at Sisters Beach. Removing them takes time and resources Council's staff are better placed to spend elsewhere. Additionally, the Waratah-Wynyard Council does not charge community members to take waste to the Wynyard transfer station.
