23.01.2022 Darwin’s favourite Colombian is back! Ben Poveda-Alfonso is the co-founder of the Kindness Shake, an organisation that has seen food being catered to stranded international students in Darwin during the Covid-19 emergency period. He is joined by Ward Keller’s migration agents, Anke Nagel and Rachael Adolphe, to discuss the latest changes to the migration rules affecting not only international students, but also onshore and offshore migrants wanting to work and stay in Austral...ia. At a time when the Territory is losing people to other States and consequently being penalised with less of a share of the GST by the Commonwealth Government, it is makes sense for Territory businesses and the public do all we can to welcome and help our migrants choose to live in the Territory. Darwin is one of the world’s greatest multicultural cities, Alice Springs and other regional centres are also fine examples of Australia’s openness. You can hear Ben’s interview on the next episode of Territory Story. #kindnessshake #migration #migrationagent #territorystory #podcast #territorystorypodcast #localcontent #darwin #northernterritory #socialmedia #boundlesspossible #stories #wardkeller #oppidanus Benjamin Poveda Alfonso

22.01.2022 If you are an employer in the Northern Territory and you care about the Territory and its future, I urge you to come along to this function. The future of the Territory depends on people like us engaging with our migrant population to see where we can connect the dots for them and give them a reason to stay. Migrants have been the lifeblood of Australia and more so in the Territory. We need migrants and migrants need us.... #migration #theterritory #boundlesspossible #jobopportunites #connectthedots Benjamin Poveda Alfonso https://www.chambernt.com.au//Employers-to-students-forum-

18.01.2022 New Labour Market Testing requirements The Australian Government announced new labour market testing measures for employer sponsored applications made on or after 1 October 2020. Businesses considering nominating overseas skilled workers on Subclass 457 Temporary Work, Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage or Subclass 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visas will be required to advertise these vacancies on the JobActive website. ... This measure ensures that appropriately skilled Australian citizens and permanent residents are given work opportunities before overseas workers when a business nominates a vacancy. The new Labour Market Testing requirements include: - that the nominated position be advertised on the JobActive website; and - that the nominated position be advertised in at least two occasions in one or more mediums; and - that the advertisement must run for a minimum of 28 days in the last 4 months. 17.01.2022 On Friday afternoon, Ward Keller was a sponsor at the annual Alice Springs Chamber of Commerce Corporate Golf Day. Our Alice Springs office entered a team that won the round off the stick (3 under) but was pipped to the post by the specific handicap rules for this event. It was a great but very windy afternoon of golf and local businesses networking. Team members: Anke Nagel, Tony Whitelum, Michael Penman and Chris Neck.

15.01.2022 And here it is... On this episode of the Territory Story podcast we had the privilege of interviewing the 29th Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull. We talked about many things relating to the Territory including: his relationship with Territory politicians in Canberra while he was PM; the lease of the Darwin port; the Royal Commission into children in detention; and funding for outcomes in indigenous communities.... Finally we discussed the concentration of media ownership in Australia and control over editorial content, and the challenges facing the Australian Government in regulating Facebook and Google. 13.01.2022 Important scam warning message from migration agent, Anke Nagel: Every day this week, I have received a strange and threatening phone call from a blocked number. The caller claims to be from the Department of Home Affairs. The automated message proceeds to threaten me that there is a warrant out for my arrest unless I dial a certain number to speak to a representative. Naturally, I hang up because as a registered migration agent I know that there is no way the Department o...f Home Affairs would contact me this way. I have had similar calls like this from someone claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office. Please be aware of these nasty scammers. The Department of Home Affairs or any other Australian government department will never call you this way. Hang up and if you feel inclined to do so, report the call to Scam Watch and let your friends and contacts know. https://www.scamwatch.gov.au//government-impersonation-sca
