The Toy library is super warm and comfy and is the perfect spot for your next play date! A morning full of activity to be had each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning. Open from 8.30am - 3pm and catering for engaging play sessions from 10am- 12noon. A morning full of exploration through play. So much fun to be had all before rest time! To all our valued members, we thank you for your patience and are FINALLY happy to announce the wait is over! ***Service sessions will again commence from MONDAY the 15th JUNE 2020!*** PLEASE NOTE: Service sessions will be amended to suit the recommended Government ease of restrictions. Attached for your convenience is some information outlining how this will work, we would appreciate you making yourself familiar with these changes to ensure the ...continued health and safety of all members. Attendance is by prior arrangement and appointment only at this stage, as we work to adhere to the square metre rule (for us this means 10 people in the building at any one time). Families that previously replied to the call out for interest to return to service sessions will be catered for as per their request. Every family wishing to return to sessions are encouraged to make contact as soon as possible, to ensure your preferred day to visit can be catered for. Further contact will be made from your Toy Library coordinator later today, to ensure all members have been notified of our return. Get excited!!! Warialda Toy Library celebrated expanding families with in the Gwydir Shire by holding a special commemorative birth certificate ceremony. If you’re expecting a baby in the future or have delivered a baby recently, and reside within the Gwydir shire, please consider completing an application and joining our morning sessions at the Toy Library. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Toy Library 0428241333 or fro...m Debbie Armstrong during your first check up appointment, shortly after the arrival of your baby. Warialda Toy Library promotes emergent childhood development through play, while just as importantly, providing an environment for parents to meet and feel supported in their parenting journey. Gwydir Shire Council recognises the importance of play based learning for children and social networking opportunities for families, supporting this by providing all commemorative birth certificate applicants with a lovely Toy Library welcome pack and a FREE 6mth full borrowing membership to the Toy Library. 11.01.2022 Overstimulation during the festive season and school holiday periods is a real thing! Try to remember this these school holidays. Overstimulation happens when children are swamped by more experiences, sensations, noise and activity than they can cope with. For example, a newborn baby might get very unsettled after a party where they’ve been cuddled by a lot of grown-ups. A preschooler might have a tantrum after a big event like a birthday party. A school-age child might b...e cranky if they go to school, then after-school care and then a swimming lesson. Overstimulated children get tired and can feel overwhelmed. When this happens, they need quiet time and a familiar, calm environment.

09.01.2022 Bare feet matter! Toe-walking is a normal gait pattern seen when babies first start walking. Over time, the child progresses from toe-walking to heel-toe contact as they gain experience. Sometimes children continue to toe-walk for congenital and/or sensory reasons. Treatment for toe-walking is actually walking and weight bearing on unusual surfaces. ... Allow children to go barefoot outdoors on terrain that dips and elevates and offers varying surfaces such as rocky, bumpy, mossy, slippery, rough, etc. This challenges and strengthens the small muscles in the feet and ankle, while providing essential sensory feedback.
