21.01.2022 The enemy to the good in family law is long wait times [and] large legal fees Attorney-General Christian Porter The Turnbull Government has recently introduced plans to combine the Family Court with the Federal Circuit Court. The historically underfunded family law system is flooded with over 20,000 cases each year creating delays of up to two years before a matter reaches its final hearing. 08.01.2022 Following a recent application submitted to the ACNC, a private school located in a remote part of Australia was approved to be a PBI. The school, focused upon educating Aboriginal members of its local community, was previously registered as a charity for the purpose of advancing education. This incredible tax benefit which is not enjoyed by most schools in Australia is due to the ACNCs definition of PBI. However, the implication of the current regime is that organisations that are working specifically with Aboriginal peoples or Torres Strait Islanders may be able to become PBIs and enjoy the consequent tax benefits. https://lnkd.in/e3iEhGH
