21.01.2022 The enemy to the good in family law is long wait times [and] large legal fees Attorney-General Christian Porter The Turnbull Government has recently introduced plans to combine the Family Court with the Federal Circuit Court. The historically underfunded family law system is flooded with over 20,000 cases each year creating delays of up to two years before a matter reaches its final hearing. The reform is aimed at alleviating the massive backlog of cases and reducing delays in the process by allowing an extra 8,000 cases to be resolved every year. https://www.warlows.com.au/family-court-abolish-not/

14.01.2022 Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull proposed tax cuts over the 2018-2019 income year for businesses with a turnover of less than $50 million. The tax cut scheme lowers the rate of corporate tax from 30% to 25%. In order to sell the scheme to the Australian public, Turnbull has linked the tax cut to wage rises for workers. 08.01.2022 Following a recent application submitted to the ACNC, a private school located in a remote part of Australia was approved to be a PBI. The school, focused upon educating Aboriginal members of its local community, was previously registered as a charity for the purpose of advancing education. This incredible tax benefit which is not enjoyed by most schools in Australia is due to the ACNCs definition of PBI. However, the implication of the current regime is that organisations that are working specifically with Aboriginal peoples or Torres Strait Islanders may be able to become PBIs and enjoy the consequent tax benefits. https://lnkd.in/e3iEhGH
