21.01.2022 Shared below is the latest information from ATAGI (The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) regarding the Australian COVID-19 Vaccination program. Key points to be across: The Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine is now preferred for adults aged 59 and under.... People of any age without contraindications who have had their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine without any serious adverse events should keep their appointment to receive a second dose. The risk of complications following a second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine is much lower than the risk following a first dose. The AstraZeneca vaccine can still be used in adults aged 59 and under for whom the Pfizer vaccine is not available, the benefits are likely to outweigh the risks for that individual and the person has made an informed decision based on an understanding of the risks and benefits. Please note our clinic only has the AstraZeneca vaccine available. You can find your nearest Pfizer vaccination centre by using the eligibility checker: https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility
20.01.2022 While mandatory mask wearing is not currently in place on the Central Coast, if you or your loved ones are commuting for work or travelling to Sydney, The Blue Mountains, Wollongong or Shellharbour it's important to be across the mask wearing rules. Masks are compulsory on public transport across the 4 regions mentioned. In addition, masks are mandatary in indoor public venues across several LGAs, as detailed below.... Masks remain recommended on Central Coast public transport and where social distancing cannot be adhered to. #staysafe Coasties
19.01.2022 We wish everyone a safe Australia Day public holiday. With heat wave conditions continuing, remember to stay heat and sun safe. It is safest to stay out of the sun, preferably indoors with air-conditioning and/or fans running. If you must go out remember to #slipslopslapseekslide and carry a water bottle with you. Take special care to monitor babies and children and check in with elderly relatives, friends and neighbours as they are more vulnerable to heat-related illness.... #highqualityhealthcare

10.01.2022 Christmas is going to be different this year if you or your loved one has been identified as a close contact to a confirmed case of COVID-19. Even though on Chr...istmas Day you won’t be physically together with family and friends, you can still celebrate and create memories, by: - Staying connected with your family and friends via telephone, email or social media. - Asking your family, friends or other members of the household to drop off a Christmas meal to your front door. If this is not possible, you could order groceries or a meal online or by telephone Remember it is important to look after you mental health during isolation. - Think about how you have coped with difficult situations in the past and reassure yourself that you will cope with this situation too. Remember that isolation won’t last for long. - Exercise regularly at home. Options could include exercise DVDs, dancing, floor exercises, yoga, walking around the backyard or using home exercise equipment if you have it. Exercise is a proven treatment for stress and depression. For more information and support at this time: - Lifeline Australia 13 11 14 - Kids Helpline 1800 551 800 - NSW Mental Health Line 1800 011 511 Thank you for isolating for 14 days and helping to stop the spread of COVID-19. 07.01.2022 The sooner skin cancer is found, the easier it is to treat. The best way to ensure skin cancer is found early is by becoming familiar with your own skin through regular self checks. Know what to look for when checking your skin. New moles, changes to existing moles, anything out of the normal for your skin or even the slightest suspicion of any of the ABCDEs below should always be followed up with a medical professional.... 06.01.2022 Have you had your first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine? If you have already had one dose of AstraZeneca and you did not experience severe side effects, you sho...uld receive a second dose of AstraZeneca. The rare blood clotting condition, TTS, is rarer still in second doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. It is still important that every person who receives a COVID-19 vaccine receive the full two-dose course of the same vaccine to provide the best immune response. Be assured at www.health.gov.au/COVID-19-vaccines
06.01.2022 Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Action (PANDA) Week runs from November 8 - 14 with this year's theme #tellsomeonwhocares encouraging the community to tackle perinatal anxiety and depression together. 05.01.2022 Once you hear the jingle, it’s hard to get it out of your head. Cancer Council first brought Sid Seagull onto our screens in the 1980s, and today, his message i...s as important as ever. This National Skin Cancer Action Week, we’re teaming with the Australasian College of Dermatologists to bring him back and encourage all those ‘80s kids who are now parents themselves to stay SunSmart this summer. A lot has changed since the ‘80s, but it’s still the same sun. UV radiation is just as dangerous, and sun protection is still the best defence against skin cancer.
