25.01.2022 The Escape from Isolation 24hr Rogaine
25.01.2022 The WARA committee is monitoring the Corona Virus situation, seeking to ensure our members safety and continued health. We dont want to cancel events needlessly, however we dont want to put anyone at risk. Our events usually have less than 500 attendees, but we also have a high number of 60+ year old members. So at this stage the May and June events, and Dryandra, have a status of Pending Cancellation subject to advice, environmental considerations and the consensus of... experts we rely upon. Note also that the 2020 National Event in South Australia has been cancelled and the cycle has been pushed out a year. The committee will update the membership with the situation as far as Rogaining is concerned please keep monitoring Facebook and the website. If you have any questions, please direct them to the committee. Thank you for your patience and understanding. See more

22.01.2022 Widespread rain across the ARC 2020 event area! Over the last two days there has been widespread rainfall across South Australia, including around Burra. We ...expect that during the three months between now and the event on 9-10 May the vegetation will green up and the wildflowers and herbaceous ground cover will spring into its reproductive lifecycle. An early autumn break! Our intrepid setting team had to call off their visit when they found out the roads had been closed due to flooding. But they put the time to good use in the bakery. #bookthemout See more

20.01.2022 February 2020 Event The planned location for the Upside Rogaine is no longer available as it has been moved to the Autumn 12-hour. WARA would love to stage an event of any type in February. Were looking for people to help, with ideas of where and what we could do that may be a traditional Upside Down event, but may also be something different: a novelty Rogaine, Metrogaine, split event, sprint event the key is we need a dedicated group to put an event together by Februar...y. We can advertise for help on eNews and Facebook if you have an idea but need arms and legs to make it happen. Depending on the event type the setters spend between 20 and 100 hours setting up the course we have people on hand to guide and mentor, but need someone to step forward now, or else there wont be enough time. We need responses and a confirmed event offer by the end of the year, or we will have to cancel the summer event for 2020. If you can help, please email Peter Trenaman [email protected]

13.01.2022 USD event cancelled: In case you missed last weeks webpage update, despite a last minute flurry of activity to try to make the Upside Down Rogaine happy. Unfortunately, due to the lack of a safety officer as well as some other logistical difficulties, the 2020 Upside-Down event due to be held on 8th-9th of February 2020 has been cancelled.... To help ensure this does not happen again why not volunteer to help at a future event.
12.01.2022 The WA Rogaining Association turns the big 4-0 this year, with more than 2,000 members across the State on hand to celebrate! The City is proud to support this ...thriving and diverse club, with its members aged 10 to 80 embarking on cross country navigation adventures. We have just installed an accessible vehicle ramp to the club's storage facility, to provide safe and easy access to heavy equipment. The club has leased this facility from us for nearly 20 years now. The ramp installation is part of the City's $5.09 million local and social economic stimulus package, aimed at stimulating the local economy and helping community organisations recover from COVID-19. The AGM will be held at the Department of Sport and Recreation, 246 Vincent Street, Leederville. Please come along to ensure that we have a quorum for the meeting to proceed and to elect a new management committee. The secretary has received nominations for all the Executive positions on the Committee (President, Vice-President, Secretary an...d Treasurer), but it would be great to have a few extra general Committee members to assist with a range of projects and activities. Being on the committee is a great way to learn about the sport and how events are organised. We have pizza beforehand, so come and meet the committee or to have a say in how the club is run!
06.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE 20 May 2020 Sport has 72 ways to rebuild West Australian communities A new sporting coalition of winter and annual sports impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic is ready to help rebuild West Australian communities.... More than 735,000 West Australians have been stranded on the sideline, waiting for sport to recommence. Recent developments and an inter-sport coalition are now signalling that WAs diverse sporting fraternity have 72 ways to rebuild our communities. The cooperation of the WAs State Sporting Organisations couldnt come at a more critical time with both physical and mental health being flagged as areas of risk by the Australian Government. Gemba has released research that found 44% of Australians are doing less physical activity than before the COVID-19 lockdown. With so many West Australians relegated to restricted activities, grass-root sports will have an important part to play in rebuilding social cohesion in WA communities. The value of sport in the country and states economic rebuild is essential, with SportWest reporting that already local sport has lost 41 million dollars. As a 12.8 billion dollar national industry, the importance of reopening the economy will only be bolstered by local Sport and its surrounding businesses getting underway. West Australians will have a choice of 72 sports to help get them off the couch and active once again. Powered by the work of volunteers and sports administrators, local-sport is here to reminder West Australians that were all in this together. Athletics, Badminton, Bocce, Dragon Boating, Diving, Gymnastics, Judo, Karate, Masters Swimming, Rogaining, Rowing, Shooting (Smallbore Rifle & International Practical), Touch Football and Volleyball, are amongst the sports that agree that it wont take just a few, but every sport to rebuild WA communities. Supported by the WA Government, Minister for Sport and Recreation Mick Murray and SportWest, community sports have begun work to rebuild their 2020 competitions and programs. Utilising the Australian Institute of Sports Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment, sports are beginning to establish a roadmap to help their communities return. END
