23.01.2022 Today is World Polio Day. Despite all the difficulties that Covid-19 has brought to the world, Rotary continues to work with its partners the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Health Organization (WHO) to eradicate polio completely. And we are so close. Find out more at www.endpolio.org

19.01.2022 Calling on Rotarians who can possible assist.

19.01.2022 Help Rotary raise awareness for polio eradication and the importance of vaccines during World Immunization Week, 24-30 April. You can also paint your pinky purple and post a picture online using the hashtags #endpolio and #VaccinesWork. In countries where polio is a threat, childrens pinky fingers are marked with purple ink after they are immunized. This helps health workers know which children are protected. #VaccinesWork #endpolio EndPolio.org Through the global fight to #endpolio, @RotaryInternational and its partners have protected more than 2.5 billion children from polio. Because of their work and the efforts of tens of thousands of health workers, polio will one day soon be a distant memory.

13.01.2022 In 1996, the great African leader Nelson Mandela launched the Kick Polio Out of Africa campaign with Rotary Internationals support, setting out a vision for a ...polio-free Africa. At the time, wild polio paralysed 75,000 children each year. To protect communities from this crippling disease, African leaders, health workers, volunteers, parents, global donors and organizations united to reach every child with polio vaccines. On 25 August 2020, after four years without a single case of wild polio, the African region has been certified free of wild poliovirus. Decades of extraordinary investment has paid off. Yet, the job is not finished. These efforts must continue to prevent wild polio from returning and to end all forms of polio for good both in Africa and globally. #rotaryinternational #endpolionow

08.01.2022 I am currently staying at Helenas farm which was within 17kms of the fire area, and we were ready to evacuate. I made it over to Kangaroo Island 1 day prior to the border closing because of the restrictions from travelling caused by corona virus. Im pleased to be here while the the lock down is happening and I can Zoom into my home Rotary club meetings each week. Zoom meetings are great, as when Im travelling, this gives me the opportunity to meet up each week with our l...ocal members no matter where Im travelling. It would be great if, when regular meetings resume, Zoom was still available for those members that travel to any place in the world. I plan to be back in Warracknabeal when the borders are again open. Cheers Calvin Heres a a short video (apologies for the quality) of me on the tractor.

05.01.2022 WARRACKNABEAL ROTARY CLUB DELIVERS MORNING TEA TO PRIMARY SCHOOL STAFF After a recent Rotary Meeting, club member Tim Hewitt suggested that whilst we werent currently able to do breakfasts for the kids, maybe we could arrange something to support the Primary School staff. As President Tony later wryly observed: If you cant feed the children, you CAN feed the staff! And so, it was.... Last Wednesday morning 9 coffees and a selection of slices from Pharmacino were delivered to the Primary School for morning tea as a thank you from the club and in recognition of what the Primary School staff are doing for their students. The staff were really touched that the club had thought of them and the Primary School principal, Ben Tate, asked that his appreciation be passed on to President Tony and the club members. It also provided an opportunity to reaffirm that we would resume the Tuesday breakfasts as soon as a relaxing of the social distancing provisions allows.
