22.01.2022 As mentioned in our recent post, we have some great news with the appointment of Sebastian Swierk as our new Club Coach. Sebastian has been coaching tennis for 20 years in various places around the world, in...cluding Singapore, Indonesia and Dubai (last 14 years in Dubai) and was previously the Head Tennis Coach and Tennis Director at the Dubai Tennis Academy (United Arab Emirates) for the past 10 years. An email containing further details has been distributed to all current and past members. The selection panel is excited to have Sebastian on board and were confident that our members will feel the same when they meet him. Coaching at the club will recommence this coming Monday (immediately after the ANZAC weekend) and we encourage all of our community to enquire about coaching opportunities. 18.01.2022 Now that were restarting our programs, this message from tennis legend Andre Agassi is worth repeating. Practice, practice, practice! Juniors, if you havent heard of this man before, he was the winner of eight Grand Slam singles championships and the only man to win a career 'Golden Slam' (all four Grand Slam singles titles plus the Olympic gold medal). Hes listed as seventh on the all-time list of tennis greats so we think he knows what hes talking about!! Were anticipating a show of strength from Warriors out on the courts tonight at training. Juniors, youre first on court from 4:30pm. See you then!!

17.01.2022 Seniors practice is on this Thursday from 6pm till 9pm. With winter starting this Saturday, get out for a hit and blow the cobwebs out. 17.01.2022 Last Friday night we crowned a new club champion, Scott Rosenweig. Scott won a tight 3 set match against 2 time club finalist and 2019 champion Rynier Brandt. It was a fantastic match. Congratulations to both players. They were both true warriors.

16.01.2022 All this sitting around and waiting for Winter Tennis Comp to start is pretty boring, right? Well wait no more. The Warriors have got the green light to run an internal comp for all senior members. Its called Team Two Tennis. Heres how it works: All senior comp and social members can enter. It is at a cost of $10 a week per team (this is to cover balls- 4 balls per team) It will be a round robin event similar to Saturday tennis. ... You need to form a team of two (2 men or 2 women) with a rank (player 1 and player 2) Single nominations can come in and we will try and find you a suitable partner if possible You play against other two people teams in a time slot on either a Saturday or a Sunday. No more than 8 players can be at the courts, no spectators are allowed Clubrooms will not be open- it will be a play and leave scenario Player must come with there own water, outside toilets will be open Balls for the matches would be dropped off to the court by either Jamie or Mark and $10 team fees collected on the day. Teams will play a doubles to 9, then two singles to 9 each with tie breakers at 8 all, to keep things moving a sudden death point is played at all deuces Teams calculate scores at the end of the match and send the results to Jamie Meredith who will post the results on Facebook with a weekly ladder. Winning teams receive 3 points and losing teams receive 1. The following weeks schedule will be posted on Facebook each Monday. How do I enter my team you ask? Good question. Please text me (Jamie Meredith- Club Secretary) your names on 0431843533 and I will start constructing the comp based on the number of entries. I would be possibly looking to start it as soon as next week. We would need at least 4 teams in both women and men to start the comp. So ring up your partner and get your racquet restrung and send me a text before Wednesday 13th of May. We want to ignite tennis again at WPTC and get our warriors swinging a racquet again and enjoying each others company (at an appropriate social distance of course!). Looking forward to hearing from you.

14.01.2022 Good afternoon Warradale warriors and the wider community, This Sunday is our annual fundraiser... meaning this is the last week to buy tickets! Where else can you pay $60 to potentially win a $1500 cash prize and also drink and eat as much as you want? All for a good cause!... Id especially like to thank the Warradale Hotel, Amorini Australia, Commerical Finance Australia, Beach Pit Brighton and Lisa Gavrilovic for their support leading up to the event as major sponsors. Also, the Tennis Clubs committee members in pushing ticket sales and all the behind the scenes organisation. And to each and every one of you who have bought a ticket to support the current and future players of the club and of course the Australian Bushfire Appeal. 09.01.2022 Latest update from Tennis SA

09.01.2022 Theres been lots of reminiscing on FB lately so why should we be any different! Remember though we all have plenty to look forward to cant wait for tennis!! Lets take you back to our 200Club event in March which generated just over $3,500, thanks to some amazing efforts by a team of Warriors who organised all aspects of the event, including those who sourced sponsors and donated raffle prizes, those who set up, kept us fed and watered and also those who took on the not...-so-glamorous job of cleaning up afterwards!! And to everyone who came along to enjoy and contribute to our success, thank you. Its often dangerous territory to single out any one person with such a large event, but in this case its warranted to give a big shout-out to Laura Conley for leading us. It was so good to see the next generation with Laura and her team stepping up and putting this event on. Thanks Laura! BTW Laura comes from a true Warriors family (her Mum is a life member) and weve seen her progress through juniors to ladies division one and recently becoming the current ladies club champion. Thats what were talking about Warriors, make us your club for life - we are family. Stay positive and lets look out for each other, I think well need to celebrate when we all come together again!!

09.01.2022 Hey Warriors, with the rain that's just fallen we've made a call to cancel tonight's Fast4. See you next Thursday night!

07.01.2022 FAST 4 update Due to the weather this evening, fast 4 is cancelled. We shall see you next week.

07.01.2022 Attention Warriors: FAST4 cancelled tonight due to wild weather. Have a restful evening and see you next week

06.01.2022 The craziness continues Warriors! We've just received confirmation that all tennis has been cancelled for this week, including Fast4. Tennis SA will review again next week and make a decision about tennis for the following week. Let's hope this is only temporary!

06.01.2022 The 100 volley challenge. Who can post it online. All the pros are doing it and I challenge any warrior to get it done. Can be against a wall too.

06.01.2022 Following on Jamie Merediths post, I want to thank the club for appointing me to coach there. Its only been two years. I thought it would be much longer but a little thing called covid-19 has intervened. Being officially a tennis senior and a lifelong asthmatic, I felt it was wisest to minimise my risk. I know there are other coaches who will be prepared to get back on the court before me. I will carry fond memories of Warradale Park, not only coaching but coordinating juni...or teams, running Fast4 and playing two seasons for the club. The prize for the senior mens Most Consistent Player for the 2018-2019 season sits proudly in my home. Hopefully the club can appoint a new coach very soon and hopefully coaching can resume before long. A big thankyou to all the wonderful families and players I had the pleasure of working with and to the club committee and president Mark Flynn. Im sure it will be onwards and upwards for the club, once this terrible interruption is over. - Stephen Murphy

03.01.2022 Warradale Park Tennis Club AGM reminder. Sunday 16th at 2pm at the clubrooms. We need all members to attend as we desperately need new faces to help do a little bit to build our club. Please RSVP to [email protected] so we can cater for numbers. Pizza provided for those that attend and the bar will be open. Our club cannot run with only 2-3 people taking on roles. The more hands the less work for all and the more that gets done.

03.01.2022 Warriors take note! Theres a lot of discussions and organisation happening behind the scenes right now as we follow the South Australian roadmap for easing COVID-19 restrictions, with the aim to get all our members back on the court as soon as possible in a safe and responsible manner. 03.01.2022 It is with great sadness that Stephen Murphy has had to step away from his role as club coach, effective immediately, due to risks with pre existing health issues in the current climate. We (the committee) would like to thank Stephen for his professionalism and his drive to make WPTC a great place to play tennis. His coaching expertise and insight into the game have been very much appreciated by all members. He will be missed by all and is a quality person who has had an inf...luence on many in his time at the club. We wish Stephen all the best. For those who were being coached by Stephen please stay tuned as we are acting swiftly to recruit a new coach, anticipating an appointment in the coming weeks. We are working closely with Tennis SA to ensure we cover all bases. So stay a Warrior as our next formal direction will be heavily weighted towards building our junior numbers and developing some high performance coaching to extend all members. Stay tuned to Facebook and Instagram and our website for an update of how the Warriors will rebuild and strengthen to thrive into the future.

02.01.2022 This week unfortunately all tennis coaching at the club has been suspended due to the coronavirus crisis. Of course, the overwhelming priority is everyone's health and safety. Over the coming weeks and months I will keep in touch with all families as well as adult students in the coaching program.... I will also keep working on the business during this time to make things bigger and better when we return. This is not the end, just a temporary suspension. All being well, we will be back. - Stephen Murphy, club coach.
