24.01.2022 Loving these flashbacks to the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Combining speed, strength and endurance along with technique that is judged subjectively by independent judges, 50km in 34.5 degree heat...what an effort!

24.01.2022 Fantastic turnout today and to be honest one of the best meets I’ve been to in my six seasons at the Club - athletes competed in good spirits and looked to be really enjoying their events, lots of help with the set up and pack up of equipment (to be all packed up by 11.30 with hurdles and high jump events on would normally be unheard of), help with the canteen and cooking of food. A little contribution by many makes it enjoyable for all. We have good numbers, lots of enthusiastic families both new and existing and a positive vibe. It’s a really good place to be on a Saturday morning! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

24.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE!! Athletics is just around the corner. Warragul Little Athletics Committee is pleased to announce that the 2020/21 athletics season will commence on Saturday October the 17th 2020!! The registration portal will open in the next few days. Once open, we will inform families via a facebook post. ... Returning athletes will receive an email from Little Athletics Victoria (LAVic) and MUST be fully registered prior to commencing their first meet. For insurance purposes, no athlete can compete if full registration has not been completed. New athletes are able to attend 2 free trial sessions as part of the 'Trial Athlete Offer' and will be required to register through the Trial Athlete registration on the LAVic website. Please make contact with a committee member on arrival at the center. A discount on registration fees will apply for this season.TBA This season will be a little different to past years due to Covid 19. Over the next week we will be providing families with protocols set out by LAVic. We are still seeking volunteers to fill the following committee positions * Uniform Officer * Canteen Manager * Weekly Field Results Input If the canteen manager position is not filled, we will not be able to run a weekly canteen or bbq for twilight meets. If the weekly field results input position is not filled the athletes weekly results for these events will not be entered into results HQ. 20.01.2022 Thank you to Warragul Drouin Gazette for their continued support and coverage of our Club and weekly program. The Club sits at 143 registered athletes. With Multi Event Day this Saturday, there’s no better time to register your child by Thursday, to be eligible to compete at one of our major days of the season. Participation certificates will be awarded to all registered athletes in the u/6’s to u/8’s categories, whilst medallions will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in each age group from U/9’s to U/16’s - to presented at our last meeting before Christmas on Saturday 19th December. 17.01.2022 Registration is open!! Committee are pleased to announce that the 2020/21 season registration is active. Please register through the Little Athletics Victoria website. Link below. https://lavic.com.au/... Returning athletes are reminded that full registration must be completed prior to attending their first meet. Please do not wait until the evening prior to the first meet to register, as the athletes name will not appear on the event sheets. Trial/new athletes. Please refer to the link below. https://lavic.com.au/membership/new-member/ Essentially there are two options when trialing. Complete the trial option or bypass the trial and register straight away (forfeiting rights for a refund for a change of mind). Obviously, option A is the recommended and for NEW members only. If you encounter any issues during registration, please contact Little Athletics Victoria directly. We look forward to seeing old and new faces for our first meet on Saturday October the 17th.

17.01.2022 20 years ago to the day. A female indigenous Australian became an Olympic Champion in her home country. I still believe that this was one of the most significant moments in Australia. Not just because of the spine tingling roar of 100,000 people inside the stadium willing a fellow Australian home to victory (plus millions around the country watching on tv) but also because it transcended sport. It was the culmination of two weeks where an entire nation was brought together, s...howcasing our country at its finest, in and out of the sporting arena, to the rest of the world. Our true values of humanity, hard work, mateship and togetherness outshone politics, oppression, gender inequality and systemic racism. 15.01.2022 Despite the indifferent weather last night, we still had 71 athletes compete, with a very impressive 85 PB’s being achieved. Well done to all athletes who attended and thank you to the parents who helped us get through all the scheduled events in a very timely manner before the heavy rain set in! We are closing in on exceeding the 139 number of registered athletes from last season. If you have utilised your two free trials and your child wants to continue little athletics, pl...ease ensure that they are fully registered via the LA Vic registration portal prior to Saturday, otherwise due to insurance and covid19 protocols, they will not be able to compete. The weather at this stage looks ideal for this Saturday with Program D running, which means we will have Hurdles and High Jump events so we will need extra hands in helping to set up so we get underway on time! 11.01.2022 Earlier today, the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, released a statement announcing that regional communities would proceed to the ‘Third Step’ of the re-open...ing roadmap, effective from 11.59pm on 16th September. In a positive development for the commencement of the 20/21 season for our sport, the statement, in part, reads: Outdoor contact and non-contact sport will begin for regional Victorians aged 18 and under, as well as outdoor non-contact sport for adults, with gathering and density limits. In its announcements on Sunday 6th September, the State Government foreshadowed this development as part of the roadmap for Step 3. Unlike the hard dates set out for metropolitan Melbourne, the steps to re-opening for regional Victoria will continue to be determined by infection rates. At this stage, there is no further information available regarding the conditions and restrictions under which our sport can commence. We hope that 2021 is better than 2020 and that our little athletes get plenty of opportunities to do the things they love....run, jump and throw. 09.01.2022 Our club is very fortunate to have many volunteers, helpers, sponsors and supporters. One of those is Cleaver & Co. Coffee - parked 20 or so metres from the finishing line each Saturday morning and dressed in red, the adults are provided with their Saturday morning coffee fix and the athletes with refreshing milkshakes after their events! Thank you for your ongoing support!

Once completed, please forward a copy of your child's birth certificate to the Centre email. With 137 registered athletes we are well on the way to reaching 140!! Our Vice President Stuart Dalton has kindly donated a $20.00 canteen gift voucher, to be presented to our 140th registered athlete. This could be you! ... 09.01.2022 A big day again today with another terrific turnout. There were lots of PB’s and a couple of events where centre records were agonisingly close to being broken. It was also a special occasion whereby the Club officially grew the number of registered athletes from last season with now 140 members! Congratulations to all! Program A is probably the most difficult given the adjustment of hurdles in both distance and height so thanks to everyone who helped with this process as well as the other events and setting up and packing up of equipment. We have our Multi Event Day next week which is one of the big ones of the year! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

03.01.2022 When does the 2020/21 Little Athletics season commmence???? This is a question we have been asked of late, though unfortunately are not yet able to answer. As you are aware Warragul Little Athletics Club is affiliated with Little Athletics Victoria (LAVic) and are governed by their directions. Due to current restrictions in relation to Covid 19, our start to the season has been delayed. LAVic are eagerly awaiting direction from SRV and DHHS and will give the green light to re...gional centres once it is able to. Once this happens registration portals will open. Please keep in mind that due to Covid 19 restrictions that this season will look a little different to seasons past. We appreciate your understanding. This email is in preparatio...n for our registration portal opening for Centres shortly and doesn't necessarily mean your Centre is currently able to take registrations. We are in continual communication with the State Government with regards to the protocols required by Centres and are working towards getting as many Centres 'live' as soon as possible. For now, take note of which member of your family account is the allocated 'primary member' and only log in to the member portal if you'd like to update any details that may have changed since last season.
