23.01.2022 SUMMER CONTRACT / YEAR OPTION GENERAL FARM HAND VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA MERINO SHEEP & CROPPING... With ongoing farm development, we are looking to hire a passionate and enthusiastic student for the summer university break with the option to extend for the full year. We have had huge success and incredibly positive feedback over the past 4 years hosting summer students and offer an environment to learn, gain experience and make a valuable contribution to the business. We operate 4200ha of flat to gently undulating land located 1 hours west of Melbourne in Victoria with a current staff of 4. The property carries 8200 modern, dual purpose merino breeding ewes, 1500 merino wethers and associated young stock depending on the season. These sheep are run on 1600ha of phalaris/sub clover and annual pastures, 1300ha of native pastures and 300 ha of dryland lucerne. We also cash crop 1200ha of wheat, canola and faba beans. Some farm experience would be favoured and the role would involve 60% livestock, 30% machinery operation and 10% general duties. 1 to 2 dogs are available for use to enable fully effective livestock duties, as is a farm vehicle for limited personal use. Independent accommodation is provided, with all amenities and you will need to know how to look after yourself. We offer involvement in production management discussions, opportunity to gain skills in all farm operations and contact with outside expertise such as livestock consultants, discussion groups and agronomists. Start and finish dates can be negotiable Please apply in writing to the farm manager; Andrew Kirk [email protected] 0437 378 060
