23.01.2022 We recently celebrated National Wattle Day on the 1st of September. We had some fun exploring the Kinder garden for wattle in the beautiful sunshine! We found some wattle on Fiona’s jumper too amongst other native plants which we also have in the garden :)

22.01.2022 Fiona observed some children playing with our tapping sticks, using them as swords. We used our meeting time to demonstrate to the children that tapping sticks are instruments. We did this using the song Inanay. Inanay is a thought to be a lullaby that originated in the Torres Strait islands. Unfortunately, because of loss of language we can't provide a true translation to the song. ... We used the globe of the world to demonstrate where the Torres Strait Islands are located. See more

19.01.2022 The children requested the musical instruments be brought out Ronnie gave them instruments that used beaters, as the sounds are more easier on the ear! It is lovely to see the boys experimenting with these instruments, and also how respectful they are of them. In the photos we have the djembe drum, dream drum, and tonal chime bars. It was very interesting to hear the children's sense of rhythm and beat!

15.01.2022 Having the whole family in one space for such a long period can be very challenging. We thought we would share the Tucker the Turtle story for the children to revisit and practice skills to calm when they are upset.

11.01.2022 This is an Australian version based on Aesop's fable of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". We wonder if your child understood the message behind this story?!

11.01.2022 We think this is a great video to help everyone understand Autism https://www.facebook.com/watch/

11.01.2022 This week is Children's Week! This year they are supporting Article 15, in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The theme is based on each child's right to choose their own friends and to connect safely with others. Warrandyte Kinder have already implemented in our program techniques to assist the children to engage with others. We will continue with these techniques and also implement a kindness tree and make a people chain they can decorate. We encour...age you yo support your child by organising a one on one play at a local playground with a friend of your child's choice. You could also organise a play with a child your child hasn't engaged with much yet. By having a one on one play your child is able to get to know this child better and this will give them options to expand their friendships. 11.01.2022 The 3 year old group have started their group mural! The children wanted to paint a picture of Bunjil, with a rainbow. They have started with their Bunjil painting using sponges to apply different shades of Brown. Bunjil is the eaglehawk regarded as the spirit creator of the Kulin nations, which include the Wurundjeri people.

08.01.2022 We are so excited to have on site classes with the children again! How many Australian native animals can you find on Fiona’s jumper? We had a lot of fun searching! If you look really closely you might even see some Gumnut babies!

05.01.2022 "Harriet Harris doesn't mean to be pesky. Sometimes she just is. And her mother doesn't mean to lose her temper.... Sometimes she just does. But Harriet and her mother know that even when they do things they wish they hadn't, they still love each other very much." Mem Fox Ronnie's not sure if her dogs, Lilly and Bear, are laughing at the story or tying to tell Harriet what to do! Does your dog or cat listen to your stories? Does your cat or dog try to tell you what to do? Or does your cat or dog....'drive you wild'?! Have you got a story about something that 'makes you wild'?

01.01.2022 On behalf of the management committee and kinder community, a big thank you to the educators for creating a fun and nurturing remote learning environment for our children! They have been preparing regular activity packs with engaging activities, and providing tutorials and suggestions via our communication platform Storypark. Weekly Zoom catch ups with their friends and educators have been the highlight of the children's week, and we can't wait to see everyone back in the class room next term! Have a fun and safe school holiday break

01.01.2022 We've made a little video to showcase our kinder and what families love about it- enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2Rrnk6GOEo&feature=youtu.be

01.01.2022 To familiarise the children with kinder and their friends again, Lyn and Fiona have made up some photo cards of the staff and children and placed them in the children's home activity packs. These can be used to play snap or memory! These games will also support the social skills of waiting and turn-taking which we have been working on in the last few weeks. We have included Ronnie, Rhonda and Carolyn in the photos. By including the 4-year-old staff we can support transition... for next year and by including Carolyn we are able to provide the children with an understanding of all the staff members. We can't wait to see you all after the school holidays! See more
