24.01.2022 Obsessed with how this one turned out! Sometimes we hit the jackpot... and then we hug our Kiln and say THANK YOU!

24.01.2022 Its so interesting to me how our subconscious works. The idea for these new creations (bonus points if you can guess what they will be once finished), came from a conversation with a friend about inspiration. As I reconnected with these pieces today after letting them dry for a bit, I had this overwhelming feeling in the pit of my stomach and in the center of my heart.... I really miss my family, my home, my country and my language. Then, another realisation. I unknowingly made the trees that are at the center of my family. They hold so many memories, moments and love. As we grew, we always gathered around these trees. They were mountains, cubby houses, the backdrop of our childhood plays and where my fear of snakes comes from. Drew and I got married around these trees, like so many of my other family members. A true living expression of wonder, love, life, and generations of growth. Now here I am, creating what I miss the most. And the trees still providing closeness even when my family seems further away than ever. I hope you like them. Swipe to see the real trees and my beautiful grandparents, who, like those trees have the power to always bring us together.

23.01.2022 Its NAIDOC week this week, and even though community events celebrating this important time have been pushed back.. Drew and I will still be recognising it by jogging (walking at times!) 10ks. Thank you to @clothingthegap for organising a wonderful way to acknowledge NAIDOC week while maintaining covid regulations. And we thank and acknowledge all First Nations People. We are so grateful to live, work, explore, create and learn on Wurundjeri Country. We acknowledge this land... was taken from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We strive to work daily towards a reconciled Nation where Aboriginal knowledge, perspectives and wisdoms are an integral part of Australia as a whole. We are committed to speaking against racism as we work towards dismantling a system which does not serve us. (why is there no Aboriginal flag emoji?????) See more

22.01.2022 Its been a busy few days. Ive been feeling really excited to explore and create! Hopefully they make it through some kiln time

20.01.2022 Off to their new home already!

18.01.2022 Hand building afternoon. Reconnecting to myself, addressing whats present for me at the moment. Delicate pieces emerged, reminding me to slow down and go gently.

17.01.2022 I made her a long time ago. She came from a need to process grief and letting go. It was interesting revisiting her to glaze her, being in such a different place in my life. What a contrast in feelings and processing. The glazing process was exciting and full of wonder. I used a set of magic glazes that I have never used before and without knowing how she would appear, I experimented... so here she is. @ Warrandyte, Victoria, Australia

16.01.2022 Glazing. The most exciting, daunting, and unpredictably magical part of the process. The alchemistic experience that makes you truly fall in love with a piece of pottery or absolutely hate it. ... Another lesson in patience, in attachment (or letting go) and accepting differences of opinions. Ceramics... helping me become better than I was yesterday, every time... Lets hope the kiln gods are in our favour tomorrow night!

15.01.2022 Today Drew and I honoured NAIDOC WEEK by participating in the @clothingthegap the Always Was, Always Will Be' Virtual March | Run. We joined the RunBitxhesRun Team to help raise funds for the Cathy Freeman Foundation who support the 1600+ kids living in remote communities, to reach their potential through education. We walked Wurundjeri country, along the Birrarung. As we walked we listened to all that this country has to offer. We heard birds calling, the Birrarung flowing... and the quiet sounds of life around us. We recalled Woiwurrung words that we knew, and spoke of stories that we had learnt in our life which taught us about the natural world around us. As Brazilian/American immigrant, I feel a huge privilege to live on this unceded land and recognise the journey towards reconciliation is long, and there is still much to be done. Lets all find a way to contribute towards a meaningful future for our First Nations children and supporting their right to education. You can sponsoring us here: https://makingadifference.gofundraise.com.au/page/Gabie @ Warrandyte, Victoria, Australia

14.01.2022 Drew and I both have other jobs outside of our studio work. Drew is a full time whisky distiller and I work part time as an early childhood educator as well as studying a masters in therapeutic arts. Weve recently found a good rhythm and schedule with firing. Its taken us a while but so far, things are flowing. Each time we thank the kiln spirits that help us keep things moving

13.01.2022 What do you like most about pottery? I like the process of creating of something useful from an organic material Whats your favourite part of the process? ... The firing process intrigues me the most. The magic of heating earth at high temperatures changes clay into ceramic. Which is just so cool!

13.01.2022 We are excited to announce our website launch! There you will be able to book lessons and learn a little bit about us! Cant wait to see all your lovely faces as soon as possible. Thanks for all the amazing support. www.warrandytepottery.com.au

12.01.2022 In our studio youll find a range of conventional and unconventional pottery tools. I use these crystals to smooth and compress my work. They are practical, beautiful but also provide me with connection to my homeland. They connect me to my culture, my family and the land that holds a big part of my heart. I love that they help shape my creative relationship to clay and the world.

11.01.2022 When I met my husband Drew almost 9 years ago, we fell so deeply in love, very quickly. He inspired me, and still does everyday. Such deep feelings, so much growing, and so much validation and support. I made this sculpture inspired by him all those years ago. Recently I fired him.. his chest exploded... Not willing to say good bye, I glazed him anyway. Not sure what the next steps for him will be but here he is. In process still, almost 9 years later.. @ Warrandyte, Victoria, Australia

10.01.2022 Today I received a message from a dear friend and soul sister. Shed noticed I was a bit off and was checking in on me. Her ability to empathetically and authentically attend to others with genuine love and care is something Im so grateful for. I often find myself in the role of care taker. Its a major part of my profession and what drives my soul. ... To care for other humans, with the gifts Im honoured to carry with me in this world. What an absolute privilege. However, a lesson I learn time and time again is that I should also take time to care for myself. Caring for self looks different for everyone. For me, its usually done with some sort of an artistic expression or a very long walk. And sometimes I can take for granted the brilliant humans that offer me unconditional support. Very much looking forward to being able to spend time in real space with the people who show me love on a daily basis. Missing my people, my tribe, my soul humans. Grateful for the reminder that I am cared for and loved! Tomorrow Ill take a page from my friends book, sing out loud, smile heaps and have a self care day! Day for me! Woah!

10.01.2022 As Victoria sees tighter restrictions and feelings become overwhelming and confusing, we want to bring some joy to your lives. 03.01.2022 What remains. In my recent subject @the_miecat_institute we were invited to engage with various modalities as we develop skills in working therapeutically with the arts. I loved this subject. It pushed me to engage with various materials in freedom; within that space, I grew as a person, an artist and as a one day therapist. ... . . . When I have clay in my hands, I speak another language. A language that emerges through clay and into the world. And this is what remains from that dialogue. @ Warrandyte, Victoria, Australia

02.01.2022 Artistic explorations from Engaging with Materials unit @the_miecat_institute I love what Im studying and really enjoying this assignment. Getting a bit swept up in it.. time to pair down my word count and hopefully submit final works soon.

02.01.2022 Latest kiln unload! Weve emptied our studio shelves and experimented with different glaze combinations, firing temperatures and cooling techniques. Some gems, a few seconds and some that will probably just end up in our kitchen. Now to just wait for some new clay bodies to arrive and play with new forms for some very patient people! ... Cant wait for my order to arrive! Alsoooo.. we are gearing up for a shop update but very slowly as we are both still working our other jobs. I see spring sales in our future

01.01.2022 Latest kiln unload! A mix of work from my studies and some things Ive been playing around with. So hard to get true color to show. The pieces that look black are more of a deep green/charcoal color.. Any tips of product photography will be greatly appreciated!
