At home. :-) Spring is the perfect time to plant lavender, so choose which two varieties of lavender you’d like (craft, culinary or ornamental), and we’ll send you cuttings from our very own lavender, for you to grow at home. The kit comes with everything you’ll need including potting up instructions - so you can get started on your project s...traight away. Your kit will contain two cuttings, enough soil and fertiliser for you to pot them up and a pretty ribbon for you to use to brighten up your pot. As we believe in sustainability here at Warratina, and to keep costs down, we will leave the decision about which pots to use, to you. You might have suitable pots at home or you could recycle a couple of tins to pot your cuttings into, and decorate them yourselves with whatever fun materials you have to hand. Get creative - after all, we’re being urged to stay at home, so no need to go buying things, use what you have around you! We call it picking but really it's cut with a hand sickle and then we take it up to the drying sheds to hang/dry. 08.01.2022 Today I received this gorgeous thank you email from a teacher whose year 7 students had just taken part in a Farms2Schools presentation I gave yesterday about farming. It's a great initiative by Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority and AUSVEG supported by Vic Gov, to provide students with an insight into how agricultural products get from the paddock to their plate. We were all connected via zoom and I told them all about lavender farming, the methods ...we use, how we operate, sustainability, biodiversity, what our day to day life is like, the growing process, harvest, drying etc - they loved it and I emailed them all an invitation with a voucher to come and enjoy a lavender ice cream when they visit once restrictions allow.
