14.01.2022 * Warrawee Cottages * Dirt road winds by gorge and gully to the turnoff on the hill; Cross the dam wall and the bridge... Past lake water dark and still. Cottage white gleams on the hillside, Welcomes weary travellers there, Lowering sun the tall gums highlight, Softening all trial and care. Currawong will greet the morning, With his liquid song so free; Ducks make arrow blades on water, 'Roos in sunlight mist I see. So the day wears warmly onward Hung with parrots rainbow wings; Honey eaters plumb grevillea's, Afar a dog barks, echoes ring. Afternoon will see me lakeside; Casting far, retrieving slow. Peace, not dinner is the object, In the evening's golden glow. From this place we wander backroads; 'Cross green mountains, golden beach; Sunlit valleys, shaded creek sides, Beauty always in our reach.
