25.01.2022 I was only doing the other day..
24.01.2022 For several months I ummed and ahhhhed about the idea of a method of education of people generally, about what has been done to our macropods. The highway and farms cost our country tens of thousands of macropods every day. Now we are seeing areas where they no longer exist, yet still we see people given a voice to tell the public they are in plaaaague proportions. They aren't. In a few places there will be a lot for a few weeks. Then they move on because their camp is no lon...ger safe or their water has been poisoned in an effort to get rid of them. No one knows how many there are. No one. No one has actually surveyed them. They fly past over a 100 km square at inappropriate times then extrapolate the count to give a national count. That is scientific bullshit. The method of extrapolation is the same as the formulas for guessing how many fish there are. It's nonsense. Recently I drove almost a thousand kilometres responding to a call from RSPCA to rescue an injured wedge tail. A young male, hit by a car. Naturally, they didn't offer fuel money, which is normal for them. That drive began at 2pm on a Saturday and ended at 4am the following day. In that drive I saw 3 live macropods. 2 grey kangaroos and a single swamp wallaby. 3 animals, day and night, including dusk and the beginning of dawn. We have a problem, Australia. And I want to do some educating. Here is the school room.
23.01.2022 As I sit back and watch the first proper rain for 8 years I want to reach out and say a few thank yous. This morning 10kg of Wambaroo arrived from Warriors 4 Wildlife in Victoria. For those unaware, that represents 40 days of formula for 5 animals. Thank you so much. That will be taken to one of our carers tomorrow. To Derek and Nicole, your donation will be used to provide some safety equipment and some gear for doing macropod surveys and at last getting an actual count of a...nimals in our area. To Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife your grant is going towards first aid kits, safety boots, radios and medication. The gambling community benefit fund has equipped our office and we are currently getting the bits and pieces which are also part of that grant, to almost triple our enclosures. So, right here I want to say thank you to all involved.
18.01.2022 A few of our care charges.
18.01.2022 If you are a rescuer carer who needs stuff as part of that work, register here. https://forms.monday.com/f/07d92dffd6e7bc11860411052f079327
15.01.2022 Just to confirm what WIRES do with your donations !
12.01.2022 The scene today in Portland was absolutely abhorrent. Trees have been bulldozed with koalas still in them. There’s bodies of dead koalas among the branches, and... some are still alive but injured. The ones that have survived now have depleted food sources. The Victorian Government has announced they are holding an investigation into what has happened. I’ll make sure they get to the bottom of it, and nobody gets away with this cruelty. Whoever is responsible must be held accountable.
10.01.2022 I've often wondered
07.01.2022 I cannot begin to describe my joy at having received an almost $5,000 grant from Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife. Our HUGE thanks to all involved in the fund-raising as well as the distribution process of the grant, which we are going to use for some comms equipment and macropod formula, which like everyone is our major expense. As a group our very deep thanks as this will assist us for the next 8-10 months by which time our highway side Koffee Kart which has also launched this week, which will allow us to provide an income stream to the organisation for the next 10 years or so. Anyone heading out along the Warrego on annual jaunts or for business, it will be open around 6km east of Mungallala between 5 and 10PM every day I can be there.
06.01.2022 RSPCA have just called me to drive 200km probably to kill a grey kangaroo. I am hopeful based on what I've heard from the person who found it. More news when I return.
05.01.2022 Please sign for the future of our wildlife in Australia

01.01.2022 Living in the bush gives opportunities to debunk myths. Like the ones about which species get on with which others.
