25.01.2022 40hp Tohatsu service carby clean and tune, running like a charm.

25.01.2022 Did this 250V8 mercury service and fitted a hydraulic jacking plate and some other mods. They don't run any better than these engines super smooth with heaps of torque and amazing fuel economy.

24.01.2022 This is a 200hp EFI that had a faulty fuel injection system and the cost of repairing it wasn't realistic, so I converted it back to carbys and it runs great.

18.01.2022 Did a 175hp Optimax with a broken exhaust tuner and service issues. When the tuner comes loose it causes running problems and bad fuel consumption evident by the black plugs, these impellers need to be checked and changed every 12 months or the bush can separate in the impeller and the engine will lose water pressure and over heat.

I have been working in the marine industry for over 35 years on both pleasure craft and hi performance power boats of all makes and models and specialise in Mercury Optimax and Verado outbaords. I also do engine and gearbox rebuilds and reconditioning, fit outs on new boats and refits on older boats. I hope to bring a friendly and helpful service at reasonable rates.

17.01.2022 This is the oil cooler from a 140 Suzuki, is quite a comon problem, make sure you have yours checked.

16.01.2022 This was a 115 Optimax that was apparently just serviced, that is the factory paint on the plugs, at 450hrs they are well overdue to be replaced, when plugs are left in the Optimax to long they will start to cause coil failures. I love the Optimax engines and have specialised in them since they first came out, so give me a call to get it looked after properly.

15.01.2022 Love the old engine's but some times they can have issues, this one dates back to 1984, I had enough parts to rebuild a new power head for it and get him back on the water far more economical than a new engine.

12.01.2022 Serviced a pair of 300hp L6 Verados this week with a list of problems mostly service related. The gearbox on your outboard or stern drive needs to be removed and splines bolts and studs greased, water pump checked and bolts greased every 12 months or 100hrs to prevent corrosion. The prop bush in the merc prop is plastic and needs to be checked for cracking and fishing line, these larger props also need a forward bushing that is missing from these propellers. These engines also had a leaking isolator boot between the super charger and the throttle body which is a common problem with earlier 6cyl verados. I have done a lot of work with verados over the years and they are an excellent engine when serviced properly.

03.01.2022 This is not good if you pull out your spark plugs and one of them looks like the one on the right, this is the sign that there is water entering the cylinder and doing damage, needs immediate attention
