Proud of Australia, Proud to be an Australian and Proud of my descendants who fought in this war. They will not be forgotten. Lets draw strength from their courage. 20.01.2022 ART SHELTER KINGSCLIFF Last Sunday I had the great pleasure to attend an opening of an art show by Izzy Sweetapple at the Art Shelter in Kingscliff. I met with the owners Fernanda and Alan, a vibrant young couple who have an ambition to make a difference in Kingscliff. Their vision is to create a Kingscliff Art Trail. We need young business people with ambition, drive and vision in Tweed. I encourage you to pop in to the Art Shelter Kingscliff and have a coffee and a chat with Fernanda and Alan. You will be amazed at the art, clothing, gifts and coffee with a meal. www.artshelterkingscliff.com.au Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :)
19.01.2022 THINK LOCAL, BUY LOCAL, SUPPORT LOCAL. Today we had the privilege of meeting the Prime Minister and NSW Premier at the Murwillumbah SES Headquarters. Both tiers of government have promised strong support to address the issues facing our Tweed Shire Community. As of tomorrow there will be a one stop facility open at the Murwillumbah Community Centre, where all government services will be available to assist any individuals, businesses and groups in any matter of concern perta...ining to the flood hardships. Phone: 1800 018 444 One of my main concerns is to find assistance for small business who have lost everything and people who may lose their jobs. I will be taking a proposal to the Chamber of Commerce within Tweed Shire to ask the Prime Minister and Premiere to strongly support in asking for the restructuring of any existing bank facilities for small business. It is the utmost importance that we get our small businesses up and running and their staff back on the job. SMALL BUSINESS IS THE BACKBONE OF EMPLOYMENT IN OUR TWEED SHIRE. They need our support Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :) See more

16.01.2022 KINGSCLIFF BUSINESS BREAKFAST Steven Segal from Gales Holdings presented their Master Plan for the 213 hectares of their land in the Kingscliff area. The Master Plan was well received as the future footprint for Kingscliff. This plan will be presented to Tweed Shire Council which will then go on Public Exhibition for your comment. The most essential issue in the Plan is the connection of Turnock Street to the Coast Road to facilitate the traffic movement around the new Tweed Hospital. I believe this should be done sooner than later and I will direct my energy to ensure this happens. Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :)
16.01.2022 R U O K Day More than ever in our present times we need to say R U O K. Sometimes all we really need is a hand to hold, an ear to listen, and a heart to understand. Check in on your family, friends, work colleagues and strangers. Hold out your hand and listen not just today but 365 days. Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :)
12.01.2022 The Draft Climate Change Policy Net Zero by 2030 is dangerous AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT! The draft Climate change policy being advocated by the Green Councillors is dangerous and cost prohibitive. If this policy is adopted by council it will effectively give Councillors a blank cheque to go green, no matter what the cost, based on achieving the 2030 target!! The policy is not costed and without any emissions infrastructure support from either State or Federal governments. Wh...ilst I think most Australians support a cleaner, healthier society, I don't believe in a "blank cheque book". There was a very interesting post on Social media this week that summed up the issue fairly well and probably represents where most of our residents sit. Allow me to quote: "Is this the time for council to commit ratepayers to potentially high costs of reaching ‘Net Zero by 2030’? We have no way of knowing the impact on economic recovery from Covid19. Governments around the world are looking at the brutal facts including that decarbonising inflicts costs on the poorest in society and it shrinks blue-collar job opportunities, worsening the wealth divide. This may be a noble goal but is now the time to make such a tight timeline commitment?" The only hope the Conservative side of Council has for responsible spending led by need not ideology is to protest loudly through submission. It’s the old story, don’t complain after the event if you haven’t done something to stop it! Please spend 5 minutes and put in a submission. Submissions CLOSES on THIS Monday 18th May https://www.yoursaytweed.com.au/climatechange
12.01.2022 KINGSCLIFF FORESHORE PARK NAME Central Park is a common park name and does not represent our village Kingscliff We need a name that creates an identity and character for Kingscliff. I am sorry that Central Park does not cut it in Kingscliff. I am all for a name change. It may be in stone at present but we can change the name so lets hear from our community. I welcome your comments and suggestions. Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :)

06.01.2022 TWEED CHAMBER CRITISISES TWEED MAYOR COMMENTS As president of the Tweed Chamber of Commerce I attach a press release on the comments by the Mayor and the rally protesters at Cudgen yesterday. The Tweed Chamber are disgusted that the Mayor would agree to use the Council to assist in the blockade and to stop our local tradies as many businesses are still recovering from the March 2017 floods and with a high youth unemployment in the region, the last thing our local businesses need are threats by an elected official to not provide local opportunities to improve the economic and social improvements our growing region desperately needs. 04.01.2022 I have always been a passionate advocate as a Tweed Shire Councillor to support OUR community and look at creating job opportunities, encouraging small business, enhancing our sporting facilities. Tourism has always played a major role in Tweed including our unique rural villages. My passionate plea last night to my fellow colleagues is lets get back to the basics of what we were all elected to do for our Tweed Community. Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :)

The Chamber this presented to the Tweed Shire Council as a submission to be included in the Jack Evans Boat Harbour plan of Management. The facility would comprise a toddler wading pool, a big-kid splash plaza and a parent's and carers supervision embankment. 01.01.2022 To all who have sent congratulations to me by email, facebook message and text messages I would like to say Thank You. It has been an honour and a humble experience to receive the OAM in the 2019 Queens Birthday honour list. Rewards come in many forms being able to assist people, business and various organisations is a reward in itself. I look forward to continuing in that role within the community. I have been privileged to be supported by many people in my career that... always gave good advice and support and to those people I make a special thanks. This award is not achieved by individuals but by people supporting you in the endeavours to make Tweed better place to live in. Having a loving and caring family who have been on this journey with me and my wonderful wife Karlene who has always been there has enable me to be involved in community activities Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :) See more
01.01.2022 TWEED BUBBLE ISSUES Yesterday I met with NSW Deputy Premier , John Barilaro and our Local State Member Geoff Provest. As Chairman of Tweed Chamber of Commerce I put to them a proposal to requesting the Qld Government to consider moving the bubble to the Ballina Shire boundary and that the Qld Government acknowledges Tradies and Trade Suppliers, Medical, Education as Essential Services. This is a common sense and a practical approach to endeavor to relieve the enormous press...ure that is on our business and local communities let alone the issue of mental health. The NSW Government supply the necessary resources to support this proposal. This was received with a positive response and is going to be further investigated by the NSW Deputy Premier. We need to take out the politics and use practical and common sense approach to get through these extreme and difficult times. Warren Polglase - Tweed Shire Council :)
01.01.2022 More COVID-19 restrictions are eased from today in NSW. Visit NSW Government for what you can and can’t do under the rule https://www.nsw.gov.au//what-you-...can-and-cant-do-under-rul As of last week up to 50 people can visit a residence, however NSW Health strongly recommends having no more than 30 visitors at a time if the residence has no outdoor area.
