16.01.2022 Our team has been notified that a customer, who visited Kmart, Coles, Aldi and the Food Court on Saturday 29 August 2020, between 12.30pm and 2.30pm has returne...d a positive test for COVID-19. We want to assure you, the safety and wellbeing of our customers, retailers and the broader community is always our priority and we are continuing to monitor and act upon recommendations from our federal and state health departments. A deep clean of our Food Court and all high touch-point areas has been completed. The relevant retailers have completed additional sanitisation within their stores. Were working with our retailers and taking extra precautions to ensure our centre is clean and hygienic including more frequent cleaning, encouraging healthy physical distancing and good hygiene, and we have heat-mapping in place to help let our team know about any busy zones. 08.01.2022 Last Night was the Northern Beaches Branch Presentation Night. Bungan Beach had quite a few members and a patrol team nominated for numerous awards this year. S...ome of our achievements included: David S - was Awarded Branch Life Membership for his continuous and outstanding contribution to Surf Life Saving throughout the Northern beaches. This is not an award given out often and so is an amazing achievement and we are very proud and thankful for everything Dave has done for our Club and others. Rod M - High Commendation in Life Saver of the year category, for everything the education he provides to all members, the various roles that he takes on in the club along with many other achievements. Tyson D - Winner of the Young Life Saver of the Year, Tyson has been an active member in two surf clubs ( Bungan Beach and Warriewood SLSC) and has performed various rescues with high levels of skill. Sacha D - Sacha was awarded the Raymond Matthew Brown OAM Radio Operator Award for his committment to surfcom and the northern beaches. Sacha took on the high level of responsibility in coordinating all the northern beaches. Well deserved! Other notable mentions of our other members who were nominated : Rebecca W, Nick F and Patrol Team 6. We are so proud of everyones achievements throughout the season a big congratulations to everyone for their achievements.

07.01.2022 This lifesaving drone deploys rescue devices and uses AI to detect sharks, crocodiles in the water. (Follow Tech That Matters for more.) The Westpac Little Ripp...er Lifesaver is a fleet of single and multi-rotor drones, otherwise known as UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or Drones) custom-made for search, rescue and lifesaving operations. They deploy rescue devices and communicate with victims in need of help. They also use AI to detect a variety of marine threats in oceans and waterways, such as sharks and crocodiles with high accuracy, in real-time. The Little Ripper is equipped with a Marine Rescue Pod, a floatation device that can support 3-4 people. It automatically inflates when dropped into water and is re-usable and re-packable by installing a new CO2 canister. For night rescues, the pod is illuminated with lights and reflective tape and can include a large sea anchor and a Shark Shield.
