23.01.2022 Good luck to our two U17 Sevens squad heading out to play in the Penrith U17 Invitational tournament tomorrow. Well done to all the players that have been involved with our Sevens program in 2020. Not exactly what we originally had planned prior to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the 7s State Champs, but it has given us a great opportunity to give more Warringah players exposure to how to play Sevens.

22.01.2022 U18 GEN BLUE Update Geez 2020 is the gift that keeps on giving (not) With the announcement from NSW Health this week of the new COVID-19 recommendations t...aking place for the next 6 weeks for Community and School sport (specifically around Rep rugby), our 2020 plans for the U18 cohort have taken another blow. As such the planned AAGPS vs NSW Barbarians games set for Sept 22nd have now been forced to be CANCELLED. BUT we are still committed to trying to provide a meaningful pathway for the 2020 U18 cohort of rugby players at schools & club. So we will adapt again and include these guys in plans for the GEN BLUE program at the beginning of November. Once we finalize what this new schedule will look like we will announce the new format - but it will offer a Rugby Pathway for all GPS, CAS, ISA, AICES, CHS, CCC & Club rugby players from Sydney & NSW Country. Stay tuned - in the meantime the scouts are out watching as many games as possible, so keep training and working on those skills. 20.01.2022 Warringah and Manly Juniors are co-hosting an U13 Sevens Tournament at the Sydney Sports Academy tomorrow. Good luck to all the Girls and Boys selected to represent Warringah. 20.01.2022 The Farewell Tour Sam Ward, Josh Holmes, Dave Feltscheer and Robert Kelly. The Farewell Tour is the Club’s final 2020 home game on Saturday 10 October 2020 and ...potentially the last time 4-incredible Warringah Rugby Club players run onto Rat Park. It is a great opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate their amazing careers. The round dubbed The Farewell Tour sees the retirement of our 2017 Grand Final Captain Sam Ward, recent 200-gamer and Club text record holder, Josh Holmes, No.15 on your back No. 1 in your Hearts" Dave Feltscheer, and the incredibly popular and tough as teak, Robert Bert Kelly. Between them on that day they will have played over 780-games for WRC. We all owe them a significant debt of gratitude and on Saturday 10 October 2020 Rat Park should be heaving at the seams to say a final thank you. At the conclusion of the match, a celebration of their careers and a presentation to each of them will be made. This round is proudly sponsored by Col Crawford Jeep and the boys will be doing a farewell lap of Rat Park in a Jeep Gladiator. Tickets to this Warringah Vs Norths game are selling fast. 17.01.2022 You are no doubt aware that the NSW Government is making additional efforts to try and contain the likelihood of community transmission of COVID-19. SJRU and a...ll affiliates of NSWRU support this wholeheartedly and in return we also appreciate the awareness from the government of the benefits of community sport. As the attached update from NSW Rugby and other community sports notes, they are pleased to have been able to work together with NSW Health and NSW Office of Sport to develop updated plans that help stop the spread of COVID-19 in NSW but also allow community sport to continue. After considering the latest requirements and recommendations, SJRU in association with NSWRU has determined that the Friday XVs, Sunday XVs, Frosty 7s, Sydney North Girls and all Minis competitions can proceed. However there will be a series of changes implemented to all of these competitions to help ensure everyones safety. We will communicate more details about them but the key changes will include: We have reviewed the grades in the Sunday XVs competition to significantly reduce cross-Sydney travel wherever practical, while trying to balance the safety and enjoyment of players. Re-grading has been completed and the revised draw will be issued on Thursday 20th. Frosty 7s will be split across two venues. In all the competitions noted above host clubs will be required to implement upgraded COVID protocols. These will include mandatory QR coding for attendance registers at all venues and a strong recommendation that all spectators wear masks. SJRU will issue an updated COVID Safety Plan template to all clubs on Thursday 20th. SJRU will review each competitions compliance with safety requirements each week. Other rugby events such as gala days and invitational tournaments will not be able to proceed. We will communicate directly with organisers of these proposed events. All of these changes are necessary to enable our kids to keep playing rugby. We appreciate everyones support for them for the remainder of this season. On behalf of all of SJRU I would also like to acknowledge the huge amount of work done behind the scenes by our operational team of John, Andrew and Tina. We thank them and all the volunteers who are still working hard to help our kids enjoy playing rugby.

15.01.2022 Time to dust off the rugby boots. Sizzling Sevens kicks off in 3 weeks and this season it is open to both Boys and Girls. Contact your local village club to find out more http://warringahjuniorrugby.com.au/warringah-junior-rugby//

15.01.2022 Boys had a hectic first day yesterday at the U17 Sevens State Champs with 3 wins from 4 games. Only a lapse against Norths in the second half prevented them going through undefeated. Unfortunately the one loss had them narrowly miss out on playing for the Cup, and will now play for the Plate today.

15.01.2022 JUNIOR COACHES If youre not confident in your own scrum program, youre not alone. With a lack of quality resources available to you, youre stuck betwe...en a rock and a hard place. Many junior coaches are just thrown into the deep end of coaching their childs scrum, despite never having packed in one themselves, or if they have, it was in a different era. Some coaches just dont know what to do and so they dont spend any time on scrums at training until they get dished up one week, and then call on an old front row buddy to come down and give their pack some guidance. Were here to take the "guesswork" out of your scrum coaching, by teaching you all of our @scrum.strong safe scrummaging methods through our Juniors Coaching Accreditation. Youll learn exactly WHAT to do, HOW to do it, and WHY youre doing it, so that you can make your scrum a safer place for your players to be. This is without a doubt, the safest, most comprehensive scrum program available worldwide. For more information, send us a message, or hit the link below to learn more and to enrol. https://www.scrumstrong.com/accreditation #scrumstrong #coachingaccreditation

12.01.2022 As everyone is now no doubt aware, there have been new COVID recommendations for Community Sport released by NSW Health and the Office of Sport, as well as publ...icised suspensions of a number of school sport competitions. Clearly this has great import for all Community Sport, not just Rugby. We (NSW Rugby and SJRU) are working through the new recommendations with Health and Office of Sport and what it means for SJRU Competitions (Friday XVs, Sunday XVs and Frosty 7s) going forward. Included in our discussions with the government are any potential changes we may need to make to competitions, and also additional COVID safety measures we may need to put in place to continue to play. The completed ongoing draw for the Sunday XVs comp will not be distributed, until we have clarified any changes which may be necessary to that draw in response to the new government recommendations. We urge everyone to remain compliant with public health orders in regard to COVID, to continue to train, following your COVID safety protocols and plans, and I will come back to you no later than tomorrow afternoon with an update on where to from here.

09.01.2022 Were Back!! This Saturday. Buy Tickets Online. Its on again on Saturday, 18th July, with the highly anticipated Grand Final replay that relaunches the 2020 Sh...ute Shield season. And Game Day tickets are now available for purchase online! Remember, single game day tickets can only be purchased this way and not available at the gate. Once you click on the link, you will be required to: 1. Enter your name, mobile number, and email address as the purchaser. 2. You will then be required to enter the details for any additional people you are purchasing tickets for. 3. You will then be asked for payment. You cannot get to the payment window until the details are supplied for each ticket you purchase. This will ensure each ticket holder simply walks through. Without the details, tickets are invalid. So, to purchase your individual game day tickets for Round one, please click on this link https://warringahrugby.iwannaticket.com.au We will also take this opportunity to advise of the following that we have been made aware of by NBC, the LAC, and the NSWRU - unfortunately, there are no player tunnels allowed at all. Even from the gate onto the field. This is in keeping with the requirement that the areas under the grandstand, especially where players run out onto the field, are to be kept completely clear. We did anticipate that tunnels would be permitted on the field, but that is now not the case. I guess we all just have to yell louder from wherever we are sitting. The restrictions wont matter come Game Day. WRC will still have the biggest and loudest crowds. And most importantly, the best teams on the field of any Club. These are tremendous young men and women who bleed green and white every week. Grab your Game Day tickets now and lets make sure we make enough noise that they hear all over Sydney. 04.01.2022 An important update as been emailed to all clubs please read and make sure this information goes to the key COVID Safety people within your Club! COVID Update... The NSW Office of Sport and NSW Health has requested that we communicate an update to all our Clubs. With the recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases in school aged young people in particular, the next 6 weeks have been deemed critical for cases within our state. NSW Health are currently reviewing restrictions for community sport and it is expected that there may be an increases in those restrictions in coming weeks. The key points we have been requested to remind our club members include: Actively Reducing Risk Wherever possible, reduce participants, officials and parents etc attending your club Avoid excess people gathering whilst sport is taking place Do parents need to hang out the club during training or game play, unless specifically accompanying their own child? Is it possible to make other arrangements to care for siblings? Maintain 1.5m social distancing at all times where possible use visual cues (cones, tape, rope markings etc) to practically show people what 1.5m spacing looks like Increase warnings for those who are sick, showing symptoms etc to remain away from your club. Follow the directions of all COVID marshals and club officials in regard to COVID safety! COVID Safety Plans NSW Health COVID Safety Marshals will be around our state in increased numbers and will be checking on sporting clubs around NSW from this weekend to assess compliance with COVID protocols. Every club with more than 20 participants (players, officials, spectators, parents etc) is required to have a COVID Safety Plan Copies of these, and any additional venue/club specific plans that your Club is implementing should all be readily available for reference and checking at your Club. All of these must be produced on request by COVID Safety Marshals, the Police or any other Authorities who visit your venues. Contact tracing should be continued to be recorded as much as possible, with ideally digital records (the use of QR Codes is recommended, and dont forget the wealth of contact information stored with Xplorer) and retained for a minimum of 28 days. Infection rates in children is of a high concern to NSW Health in particular over the next six weeks. We must pay attention to ensuring that our junior competitors/ participants are maintaining social distancing, cleaning/ hygiene requirements and remember GET IN play GET OUT still applies so our Training and Competitions can continue on foot Other Key Reminders Anyone who is unwell should stay home Your Club activities can continue as long as the current Public Health Orders are complied with Practice good hand hygiene before, during and after Rugby Avoid physical contact where possible Do not share drinks, towels, clothing etc Encourage players to arrive dressed, ready to go Encourage the use of the COVIDSafe app for everyone whilst at your club A noted above we want to limit spectators to a minimum. Further if there is any confusion on social distancing, following a one person per 4 square metres rule is a very effective way of ensuring sufficient physical distancing between people. The key thing here is to remain vigilant. Community Sport has done very well to not be the cause so far of any outbreaks, we need to keep up this good work, so our participants can continue to enjoy Rugby for the remainder of the season.
