16.01.2022 Working from home and considering an office extension? When renovating, you may find that you need passive fire protection for external openings for either Boundary Control or Bushfire Control. Both terms relate to the proximity of your home to either the neighbouring property or boundary, or the bush (including a reserve) - which may require a certifier assessment to determine a rating, and therefore what type of protection you might need.... We can help you decipher your assessment and also provide you with the solution! We specialise in passive fire protection, and our products are not only compliant, but proudly certified Australian Made - with installers nationwide. 13.01.2022 WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BAL-FZ & BAL-40? The rating between a BAL-FZ product and a BAL-40 (or lower) product is essentially determined by distance and how your project is rated. BALFZ indicates direct exposure to flames from fire front, in addition to heat flux and ember attack.... BAL40 reflects the need for increasing levels of ember attack and burning debris ignited by windborne embers together with increasing heat flux with the increased likelihood of exposure to flames. It is the highest stringency level outside BAL-FZ. From a product perspective, generally an FZ product has a steel frame, and a BAL-40 (or lower) has an aluminium frame with some glazing differences. 05.01.2022 IMPORTANT NSW FIRE HEALTH UPDATE FROM NSW Ambulance People with any respiratory issues or who are particularly vulnerable can be the first to feel the effects ...of smoke which may aggravate their existing condition. Even healthy adults and children can be impacted by the effects of heavy smoke which can result in lung irritation. These conditions can have a serious impact on your health and it is important to remember that our bodies have to work extra hard to cope or cool down. Ensure you stay hydrated and pay particular attention to any symptoms (dizziness, headaches, racing pulse or nausea) of heat related illness. Be aware of potential hazards such as embers, falling debris, damage to surroundings and reduced visibility which can cause injury. Paramedics are urging people in fire affected areas to wear any form of eyewear and loose clothing to cover your skin to assist in reducing any incidental injury. NSW Ambulance recommends if anyone sustains any form of burn they should cool the affected area immediately with water ideally running water for a minimum of 20 minutes (for eyes ensure you flush the eye) and seek medical attention. We need people to really take care of themselves. If you have a pre-existing medical condition make sure you have all your medications with you and readily available at all times. NSW Ambulance is always here to help - never be afraid to call Triple Zero (000).
