21.01.2022 Dear Parents/Carers Thank you for your support and understanding in what is a challenging time for the Warrnambool East school community - families and staff. As you may remember from Term 2’s remote learning, when a teacher is supervising on site, you will be alerted that they may not be giving feedback that day. They may also not be able to give their webex group lessons on those days. This is dependent on how many staff are required for onsite supervision with a ratio of ...1:8. The number of requests for onsite supervision has been significant, and we have accommodated these requests even as they continue to be made this morning. However, to ensure we have the correct supervision ratios in place each week, the school must receive requests by 3pm each Thursday. Please do not be offended if your request is denied after this cut off time, as we are following DET guidelines for the safety of all. The government also wants teachers and school staff to be at home and so please consider whether your work can be undertaken from home before requesting onsite supervision. As the term progresses please alert us if your circumstances change, as you may only need some days or parts of days. Our well-being team continue to provide a range of supports for vulnerable students and families. Thank you once again for all that you are doing to keep our school community safe. 16.01.2022 Pupil Free day tomorrow Dear Parents Our regional director of education, Wendy Timms, has approved for all schools in our areas to have an additional pupil free day tomorrow to allow us to better prepare for remote learning and onsite supervision.... We realise this is very short notice and an inconvenience to you in making arrangements but extremely appreciated by our staff. Schools in Melbourne and Mitchell were given five pupil free days to prepare and we were struggling with only one day. Our school council has supported this decision to have the additional pupil free day tomorrow. We have checked with THEIR CARE and they will offer a program for tomorrow if you would like to register. https://theircare.com.au/registration/ Thank you for your efforts to keep as many people at home as possible to see if we can stop the spread of this virus. 12.01.2022 Term 4 information. Warrnambool East Primary School along with all the schools in the Great South West Coast Government Network welcome all students back on Monday 12 October. Even though The Department of Education (DET) has advised that we can stage the return to school through week 2 of term 4, our local government schools are very keen to have our students back face-to-face. We appreciate the sacrifices families have made this year and want them to know that schools are... ready to welcome their children back. So, we welcome all students back at school from Monday 12 October. Thank you again for your incredible efforts in supervising and helping your children with their remote learning. Please pass on our thanks to other family members and carers who have helped too. You have all made incredible sacrifices and effort and it has been appreciated. We can only hope that the return to school is permanent. More information will follow once we receive operational guidelines from DET. Regards Michelle Bickley-Miller

09.01.2022 Wow, wow, wow!! A huge thank you to those that participated in our Wind Powered Vehicles activity last week. We strive for our students to build strengths in so many areas and this single activity allowed them to shine through. Well done families on your continued support.
07.01.2022 It occurred to Pooh and Piglet that they hadn't heard from Eeyore for several days, so they put on their hats and coats and trotted across the Hundred Acre Wood... to Eeyore's house. Inside the house was Eeyore. "Hello Eeyore," said Pooh. "Hello Pooh. Hello Piglet" said Eeyore, in a glum sounding voice. "We just thought we'd check on you," said Piglet, "because we hadn't heard from you, and so we wanted to know if you were okay." Eeyore was silent for a moment. "Am I okay?" he asked, eventually. "Well, I don't know, to be honest. Are any of us really okay? That's what I ask myself. All I can tell you, Pooh and Piglet, is that right now I feel really rather sad, and alone, and not much fun to be around at all. Which is why I haven't bothered you. Because you wouldn't want to waste your time with someone who is sad, and alone, and not much fun to be around at all, would you now." Pooh looked and Piglet, and Piglet looked at Pooh, and they both sat down, one on either side of Eeyore in his stick house. Eeyore looked at them in surprise. "What are you doing?" "We're sitting here with you," said Pooh, "because we are your friends. And true friends don't care if someone is feeling sad, or alone, or not much fun to be around at all. True friends are there for you anyway. And so here we are." "Oh," said Eeyore. "Oh." And the three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny little bit better. Because Pooh and Piglet were there. No more; no less.
