25.01.2022 Spare a thought for all the front line workers keeping us safe whilst being away from their families. Warrnambool RSL board member and Port Fairy local Charles Carrucan was the soldier on the news last night assisting Victoria Police. Other locals on the front line in the Melbourne CBD are Kirkstall's Brayden Bewy Buchanan and Portlands Eric Mibus.... Stay safe, you're doing your families and our community proud. #thespiritofmateshipliveshere #opcovidassist #isowereinthistogether #dotherightthing

22.01.2022 2020 has been an extremely tough year for many and commemorating our Returned Services Men and Women and paying respects to our current men and women servicing now has also been challenging. RSL Victoria is encouraging us all to ‘Remember to Remember’ this Remembrance Day, and we have decided to help by bringing you a special online service. Thanks to Lyndoch Living we were fortunate o speak to a number of residents who were directly or indirectly impacted by War, one of whic...h is Wally Robertson, one of the regions last remaining WWII Veterans. We also hear recounts from residents Olive Francis, Joan Bottrell, Edna Worrall, June O’Keefe not just about life during the war, but their lives after it. Your MC is Warrnambool RSL Vice President Michael Bellamy Our Traditional Service with a bit of a twist has been produced by FitZ Media Productions Owner/Director Liam Fitzgerald. The service will take you right up to 11:00AM for a minute silence. 12.01.2022 This week marks the 100th birthday to our national airline Qantas. In 1920, two recently returned WW1 servicemen and a local grazier decided to start an airline. From humble beginnings in outback Queensland, carrying mostly mail, Qantas grew to become our national carrier, flying 50 million people a year. Qantas has been there through war, natural disaster and national celebrations. It pushed the boundaries of endurance to take generations of Australians all over the world,... and bring them safely home again. What makes this story relevant to us here in the Warrnambool and District is that the co-founder Paul McGinness was born in Framlingham, located just East of Warrnambool. 01.01.2022 Thank you to all of the schools, organisations, representatives and individuals that came to the Angel of Peace Memorial to lay your wreath or poppy. We can see many of the schools put in a lot of effort to hand-make beautiful wreaths, these are really wonderful! To past and current serving members, and the animals that also served and are currently serving, thank you. Please save this picture and remember your community has wrapped their arms around you this Remembrance Day... although COVID kept us apart. #mateshipliveshere #remembertoremember Grasmere Primary School Warrnambool East Primary School Allansford Scout Troop 2020 Ourlady Help of Christians Emmanuel College Warrnambool South West TAFE National Service Association South West Woolsthorpe Primary School 413 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets Warrnambool CFA South West (Warrnambool) Victoria Police Warrnambool Warrnambool Youth Council Alumni Ambulance Victoria (Warrnambool) St Joseph's Warrnambool Roma Britnell MP Laurel Club Warrnambool Warrnambool Legacy Club Inc Warrnambool College Gillin Park Retirement Village Warrnambool To the unnamed wreaths and poppies, thank you for placing them.
