21.01.2022 Please NEVER drive through floodwater. Warrnambool and surrounds got 44mm of rain in the last 24 hours and there is a lot of water around including on roads. Our crews have been out all night and have seen a number of cars driving through flooded road ways. This is a huge concern for us, it takes just 15cm of water depth to float a car and even less to hide an eroded and dangerous road surface.
20.01.2022 Earlier today, members of the Warrnambool SES, and Port Fairy member Hannah Torney, were involved in a road rescue demonstration at the 2020 Sungold Field Days. In front of a great crowd, our members were able to showcase their skills on how to safely extricate a casualty involved in a car accident. After the demonstration, our newest member, Paddy, enjoyed going around the paddocks trying tractors, ATVs, even trying bow and arrows to finish it off with a well deserved nap... Warrnambool SES will be also present at the Sungold Field Days Thursday and Friday.
19.01.2022 With the easing of restrictions in Regional Victoria, the Warrnambool SES will soon restart face-to-face training. It has been a while and our members are really looking forward to safely catching up, implementing our Covid-Safe plan, and refreshing the very much needed life-saving skills that our Community expects us to have. For this reason, we are again looking for suitable vehicles that can be used for Road Crash Rescue training. If you have any unwanted vehicles, on wheels, with intact windows, please contact us. We can also send you a before and after shot of your once beloved treasure Your support is very much appreciated, and remember, please stay safe out there.

17.01.2022 Avoid Merri Crescent between Ryot and Hart Streets this morning while Wannon Water fixes a burst pipe. This short video shows that even on a sunny morning in a suburban street a bit of water on the road masks a much bigger hidden danger. Never drive through flood water #vicses #sesvolunteers #wannonwater
16.01.2022 A windy morning to early afternoon. Secure any lose items. If you have a trampoline, check it is anchored and park your car under cover away from trees.
15.01.2022 The South West region of Victoria was substantially impacted by high rainfall and moderate flooding over the period Thursday 9th to Sunday 11th October. Turning 50 cubic metres of sand (80000kg) into 1000s of 20-25kg sand bags was a lot easier with the help of this generous donation from Hire Australia. If you appreciate their community support as much as we do and you want to know more about specialised equipment hire check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/.../Hire-Australia-153055628051844/ or at their website https://www.hireaustralia.com.au/

13.01.2022 Deployment team 2 update- After a short detour to Mallacoota this morning our 2nd team to deploy to Gippsland have arrived home safely after 5 days away. Based in Orbost, Besse and Adam along with a member from Morwell and a member from Moe were tasked with integrating and supporting the VICSES Orbost Unit maintain its capacity and capability to respond to rescue and general requests for assistance during the ongoing fire emergency. Many hours were also spent by the crew enga...ging with members of the local community and other response organisations including ADF, CFA, FFM, DELWP and the Red Cross. The crew also met a number of holiday makers finally making their way home after a temporary re-opening of the Princes Hwy on Monday. They heard some amazing stories of the traveller's experiences and rapid evacuations from holiday locations. Well done to all involved! Please be aware there are a number of areas across Victoria where road access is limited to residents and permit holders only. Check VicTraffic for the latest traffic updates www.traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au and remember to keep an eye on www.emergency.vic.gov.au
12.01.2022 The Warrnambool Unit has not been posting much lately, which in a way, is a good thing. Our community engagement and face-to-face training activities have ceased for the time being but we want to ensure our Community that we are still available to assist you in your time of need. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a weather warning for damaging westerly winds, rain and possible hail and snow. ... Please make sure you secure any object laying around, do not park your vehicle under trees, and as required during this trying period, stay home and stay safe. See more

10.01.2022 Deployment Team 2 update - Orbost and surrounds. Warrnambool members Besse Krause and Adam Jones along with colleagues from VICSES Moe Unit and VICSES Morwell Unit have had a busy morning supporting VICSES Orbost Unit at Australia Day Celebrations organised by Rotary Club Of Orbost. A sign of a spirited community and teriffic comraderie between response organisations saw a wonderful turnout and some very deserving award recipients. Councillor Mark Reeves from East Gippslan...d Shire Council spoke of the need to 'look after each other, now, and in the months to come'. We agree and recommend this as a beautiful area with lovely people and it is well worth a visit to help these East Gippsland communities get back on their feet. Sunday afternoon will see two of us relocating to Cann River to assist with base camp management and rescue coverage due to other significant VICSES activities in the East region. See more
09.01.2022 Warrnambool SES and all our neighboring South West Units have had a very busy 36 hours supporting their communities. It is not raining in Warrnambool at the moment but there is a lot of water on the roads and water still coming into the local catchment. If you need flood and storm assistance 132500.
09.01.2022 Have a great Easter and be safe.
08.01.2022 Let’s share the stories of kindness! #neighbourdayspirit

07.01.2022 Large volumes of water have changed the landscape at Warrnambool's Blue Hole, Hopkins River Mouth, Point Ritchie, Moyjil area. Some banks are unstable and at times the water is moving quickly. SES has put up barrier tape while WCC inspects and reviews the safety of some affected areas. Please do not ignore safety tape or warning signs and be aware of new and changing conditions. (Photo credit Warrnambool SES Unit)
06.01.2022 Two rescues in less than a month at Point Ritchie are a reminder to all that both the mouth of the river and the nearby ocean are extremely dangerous areas to swim or to exercise your dog. Avoid swimming in the area and if you are planning to exercise your dog make sure they are always under effective control and ideally on a leash. We will likely experience very high rainfalls during the next few months and this will make Point Ritchie even more dangerous due to increased wa...ter flow. Please take care out there. https://www.standard.net.au//father-daughter-and-friends-/
05.01.2022 Giorgio Palmeri, Bill Fawcett ( Warrnambool) & Ray Polasky (Portland) arrive at the Warrnambool airport after their deployment to Tambo Valley. Well done guys and welcome back.
04.01.2022 Good news for Merri River. We still have water coming into the catchment and particularly the Hopkins River. If you have property on the Hopkins River at Allansford and Warrnambool that has previously been at risk from high river levels, now is a good time to take precautions. Move cattle, loose items and valuables to higher ground and consider sand bagging low external doors and garages.
04.01.2022 Very good initiative for a really worthy cause. Get involved.
