21.01.2022 Refunds for our cancelled June meet, that was to be on this weekend, are currently being processed and will be returned via Swim Central in the next 10 days. Please contact Swimming Victoria if you have any issues with your returned payment. We are going to try again on the weekend of July 31st-Aug 1st. The format will be the same as June meet. More information about the meet will be posted as soon as we know what restrictions we will be operating under. Please keep us in mind for your last chance to qualify for Country SC Championships as well as an opportunity for Melburnians to get out of town and visit us. Stay safe and once again Thank you for having us in your plans. Book us in for June 2022!!
20.01.2022 Covid update: We are still planing our June meet with optimism that we will be able to run. Currently we are on pause and any decisions on the meet will be made towards the end of this circuit breaker lockdown. Refunds will only occur if the meet doesn't go ahead due to government restrictions. Once again, we send our wider swimming community all our love and support to get through the next crucial period. ... Warrnambool Swimming Club Committee
18.01.2022 Ocean swimming has never looked so good in the 'bool. With a change in the way we live, work and play, COVID has enticed us to think laterally in terms of our ...physical activity, and to be brave and perhaps try something new. And is there really any better arena than the one Mother Nature has given us right here in our own backyards? From a physical perspective, swimming ticks so many boxes; it’s a global body exercise; it uses just about every muscle but in a low-impact and gentle way. It stretches our trunk, hip and neck flexor muscles (all the ones that are prone to shortening when we sit in front of a computer) so it is the perfect antidote to all the home working and schooling. From a psychosocial perspective, swimming is one of the least social exercises we can engage in, so are we deliberately syncing our exercise with the current world climate? Or is something else drawing us into the waves? In his book Body Moves; The Psychology of Exercise, psychologist James Gavin explains that when it comes to swimming our ‘awareness of the world around us is limited to the sensations of the water’ - it's in this environment that we can shed the confines of our four walls, of our world that's been turned upside down and seek solitude in the rocking of the waves. He goes on to say that 'if you use too much force in swimming, it becomes a battle you quickly lose. The swimmer has to have an attitude of acceptance, of working in harmony with the water and using it for support. The fewer the ripples, the easier you move. No doubt you can splash and flail about, but fatigue wins out and either you learn to harmonise or you give up.’ Harmonising couldn't be more enticing right now..so unleash your inner Tammy van Wisse and give it a splash!
18.01.2022 This looks good. Might be worth the subscription.
18.01.2022 Good afternoon All. We hope this post finds you safe and well, after a festive season and for that matter, a year, with a difference. Following up on some email...s and queries, please note SV will be posting more information in regards to 2021 Country Long over the next week or so, after consultation with appropriate stakeholders. Prior to Christmas, our planning and expectations were a maximum of 1000 at the event. Swimmers, Coaches and Technical Officials/organising personnel(limited) a priority, then Team Manager numbers would be advised on swimmer entries per Club. There will be no specific spectator seating and once all of the above are determined, we will then look at parental entry per club. Any parents permitted would be required to keep to their own club area, with limited movement allowed. As you are aware, this covid situation seems to be changing by the day but know the safety of All involved is paramount. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Gippsland Swimming Inc. 17.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. This year we have heard we’re all in this together quite a bit and it’s really important to follow this message up with our actions. A simple text or phone call to check in may just change someone’s life. You don’t need to know all the answers. Just showing that person is worthy of care can be enough. Use today to start the conversation. If you need to talk, there is always someone that will listen. You are never alone. www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask... #ruok #ruokday2020 #theresmoretosay #ruokeveryday

14.01.2022 What a cracking Spring morning for a swim. Well done to the 25+ swimmers who paired off and swam the circuit this morning then headed off for a run. Looks can be deceiving though with the water temp sitting around 12 degrees. Our kids are made of tough stuff!

11.01.2022 It is vital to be able to spot a rip. Not every rip will have all these signs all of the time, but here is what you need to look out for. Remember these three s...imple steps when heading to the beach this summer: 1. STOP before entering the water; 2. LOOK for the signs in this video and any other dangers; and 3. PLAN how to stay safe. You can find more information at www.beachsafe.org.au #WaterSafety #DrowningPrevention
11.01.2022 What a view! So good to see not just our squad up early but our community also embracing the early seasonal opening of the pool. #positivesofcovid

02.01.2022 Members: important news from SV regarding short course cancellations.
01.01.2022 We are absolutely gutted with the announcement today that there is an extension of the current lockdown across Victoria. The result of this means that, for the second year in a row, our June Meet can no longer go ahead. We are in contact with Swimming Victoria as to the process of returning entry fees to all entrants. Please be patient as we work through this task. We can't see you on the long weekend but we hope you all can come and swim with us at our meet on July 31st - A...ugust 1st. We are optimistic that we can run the same format as what we do for June and will release our flyer and open the meet as soon as we know what restrictions we may have for that time. We wish our swimming community all our very best in particular our Melbourne friends who are doing it tougher than any of us. We are all in this together. Make sure you look after yourselves, reach out to each other, check in on each other and most importantly, just keep swimming! See you soon Victoria xx See more
