19.01.2022 Field archery returned to the district with the marked 24 target World Archery competition at Duram Park, Allansford over the weekend. Competition was fierce over the four divisions as the blustery conditions played havoc with both arrow and archer. Strong winds, gusting up to 40kmh, made sure that the course record was in no danger of being bested on the newly refurbished layout of the John Goodwin Field Course.... https://www.aow.asn.au/index.//12/13/field-shoot-12-12-20/

14.01.2022 As we are still not permitted to use the indoor facilities, practice today will be on the 90m range and the recently completed 24 target John Goodwin field course. Members can choose to shoot either the 16 target 90m range or try the 24 target field course. The field course has been setup with a white peg so that any novice archer who has qualified to shoot at 20m can shoot the field from a maximum distance of 20m. All targets for the novice archer are between 10m and 20m. Its a great form of archery so why not give it a try. Shooting on the field course commences at 1pm sharp and the 90m range will be open from 11am.

12.01.2022 COVID-19 update and club closure As announced by the state government, regional Victoria will re-enter Stage 3 restrictions midnight Wednesday. This means our last shoot before entering these restrictions will be this evening (Tuesday 4th). Remember you MUST wear a face covering if you are attending today. Unfortunately we will have to cease indoor and ourdoor club activity once restrictions are enforced, meaning there will be no Saturday, Friday or Tuesday shoots until ...restrictions are once again lifted. Stay safe and mask up! the sooner we're through this, the sooner we're back to the sport we all love!

10.01.2022 Congratulations to new member, Connor Barbary, who has now qualified to shoot out to 90 metres. Connor achieved this over only two days, starting at 20m and finishing on Saturday with 253/300 at his first attempt shooting from 70m. If you would like to try to qualify to shoot at greater distances, our next Qualifying Distance Event is this coming Saturday, 28th November at 2pm https://www.aow.asn.au/index.php/2020//23/connor-qualifies/
09.01.2022 The indoor range has had a facelift too, with 4 new target butts and the others repacked. A huge thanks to Gerry Mahony, Alex Nesic, Steve Woodward and Chris "Slick" Densley for all their hard work.
09.01.2022 The outdoor range has had an upgrade! 2 static targets at 10m, 4 at 20m, 2 at 30m, 1 at 40m. Plus 7 other targets that can be wheeled to any distance from 10m to 90m. Who wants to shoot a FITA when the covid restrictions are eased?

The event was won by Jess Reid, with Alex Nesic in 2nd place and Gerry Mahony, who was shooting for the first time in months and was trying out his new hip, in 3rd place. Well done and thank you to all who shot today, and a big thank you to all those who helped in the construction of the field course, especially my amazing wife Jess Reid, Charles and Michelle Dillon, Alex Nesic, Chris "Slick" Densley and Gerry Mahony. 06.01.2022 COVID-19 update and club safety. With yesterday's announcement of mandatory face masks/face coverings from midnight Sunday for ALL Victoria we have received the below updated safety advice from Archery Victoria. Athletes engaged in archery for exercise and active recreation purposes MUST wear a face covering at all times when at the club. ... The only exception to this rule is when you are standing on the shooting line and actively engaged in using your bow, where a face covering may interfere with the travel of the bowstring and cause a hazard. At all other times, including when moving to and from the target, your face covering must be in place. Athletes must at all times be a minimum of 1.5m away from all others. If greater distances can be maintained then this is preferred. We want all our members to continue to enjoy the competition, active recreation and positive mental wellbeing that archery provides, particularly during these challenging times. To ensure this and to respect the safety and wellbeing of your fellow members, you MUST wear a face covering if you are entering the club from Monday onwards.
