25.01.2022 Warrnambool’s stock of ageing household recycling bins will be replaced over the next six weeks, starting from November 9. The new yellow-lidded bins will be the same size as the old bins 240 litres and will still be collected fortnightly. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO Leave your recycling bin out until the evening after collection. It will take more than one recycling pick-up to get to everyone so if your bin isn't swapped over this fortnight, leave it out again next fortnight. I...f you think you've been missed, please call on on 5559 4800. BUT MY OLD BIN SEEMS FINE. WHY CHANGE IT? Many of our existing household recycling bins in Warrnambool are about 20 years old, which is roughly the age at which they start to fail. Each year we replace hundreds of bins that are either broken or missing. It’s cheaper in the long run to give everyone a new bin now than to continually replace and deliver bins on an ad hoc basis. RFID technology in the new bins will minimise lost and stolen bins and help with reducing recycling contamination by pinpointing contaminated bins. Each bin will also have a specially designed clip to keep them closed on windy nights, reducing instances of loose material being scattered along the street and into the stormwater system.

16.01.2022 Council is seeking community feedback on options proposed for the replacement of Edwards Bridge along Stanley Street, Warrnambool. 09.01.2022 Our annual road resealing program begins today, with 64 locations included in the three week work schedule. Road resealing involves spraying the road surface with a layer of bitumen before rolling a layer of stones into the surface, a process that extends the life of the road by up to 15 years. It's a process carried out on roads that are in generally good condition, but starting to form cracks in the pavement. ... A pothole forms when water makes its way through cracks in the top layer of bitumen and disrupts the lower layers of road base, creating a weak spot that eventually collapses. Resealing is a preventative measure to extend the life of our existing roads and help to avoid more expensive repair work in the future.
