24.01.2022 So many positive feelings are generated by the simple act of growing something.

17.01.2022 Several members gave our ornamental natives a bit of love today. Weeding and adding compost around them to help with water retention around their roots. More still to do. Any members who have a bit of time might like to start clearing the kikuyu out of the ruby saltbush close to the double gates (last picture). Thanks to Daniel, Wilma, Rob, Dave, Pete and Keith.

17.01.2022 WCG produce and plants, grown in site, have been proving very popular with our broader community. We really enjoy sharing our space with our local producer friends and the public who get to enjoy our wonderful garden as well as access great food and produce.

17.01.2022 #NAIDOC2020 We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we live, work and garden. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.

16.01.2022 Our volunteers have had a couple of weeks off, but the WCG Garden Market is back this Wednesday January 6th from 3:00 - 6:30. Great local food and fresh produce in beautiful surroundings.

15.01.2022 Christmas trees are starting to be dropped off at WCG (right side of picture). We are happy to help recycle natural Christmas trees, but please be careful with contaminants.

12.01.2022 Different Dianella species produce fruit at different times. These striking berries, a little bigger than a pea, belong to D. callicarpa I think.

12.01.2022 Wow this is a great opportunity. A free virtual tour of Heronswood - one of Australia's most stunning and celebrated gardens.

11.01.2022 Traditional (bush) food species looking good at this time of the year with flowers, forming fruit and pollinators in full swing.

10.01.2022 Propagation through cuttings workshop WCG next Saturday. Book at https://www.trybooking.com/BRVVR Participants will take home several potted cuttings.

09.01.2022 How to make your home more environmentally friendly - this Sunday in Koroit.

08.01.2022 Fruit trees in the Chook Hilton have good crops started overall. Just flowering now are the feijoa and our "surprise" mulberry. The mulberry has just been a series of skinny sticks which we had not indentified previously. Still not sure if it's a complete tree or just rootstock - time will tell.

08.01.2022 Garden Market is on today from 3:00-6:30. Weather forecast is for chance of rain to fall quickly in early afternoon, so we are proceeding with positive expectations!

08.01.2022 Another great working bee at WCG today. Over 15 members and friends have primped and pampered the main garden area until it was looking even more beautiful than usual. Edges, mowing, weeding, tidying and pruning. Another group worked in the quarry weeding around the plantings that were done between lockdowns. Survival rate of seedlings has been great. The picture shows the developing shelter belt of natives on the east boundary, where the plants are starting to grow together to form a solid wall against hot northeasterly winds in summer.

08.01.2022 A small but dedicated group worked at the Community Garden this morning. Focus today was native plants. Lunchtime discussion about Wilma's pale vanilla lily and looking at the developing edible tubers.

08.01.2022 Workshops are back at WCG. Chamari has two before Christmas, cooking a Sri Lankan meal then eating it together at the end. Numbers limited. Book through Sri Agri Kitchen on Facebook or Instagram or by phoning 0469 184 031 Watch for other workshops being advertised shortly.

07.01.2022 So close but not quite. The apricots in the Chook Hilton are almost ready to eat or process in a range of ways. Wren, Riki, Heather and Rob netted the large tree. The two smaller trees were a bit riper and harvested, yielding a surprising quantity. These will ripen off the tree.

05.01.2022 It's Garden Market day again. Wednesday from 3:00-5:30. As well as our winter produce and preserves, this week we have some banksia seedlings $2, murnong $5 and various herbs and succulents mostly $3.

04.01.2022 A band of intrepid sheep manure wranglers visited a local shearing shed today to stock the Garden up on bags of sheep nugget gold. Well done guys and gals.

02.01.2022 Port Fairy Community Garden are looking for someone to help get them back on track. Could that be you?

02.01.2022 Lots of kids love plants. At this week's Garden Market, Wednesday November 25th, we would love to have some kids to help plant dahlias, sunchokes and cape gooseberries in the gardens around the childrens' area. This will happen around 4:00-4:30 with Rob. We will have trowels etc, but if parents want PPE like gloves they will need to bring their own. The Market itself runs from 3:00-6:30.

01.01.2022 Petstock are one of our organisational members. As well as giving us great support with chook feed they also have a plot which they pay for then allow us to let school students use. With a fallow period coming up we have planted it out with 10 different types of pumpkin from member John, hardly any of which non pumpkin nerds would have heard of. Signage to come. Thanks Petstock.
