25.01.2022 TEMPORARY RELOCATION: Coonabarabran Visitors Information Centre The Coonabarabran Visitors Information Centre has temporarily been relocated to 2/48 Dalgarno Street, Coonabarabran, allowing the original building to undergo renovations. Destructive storms at the beginning of the year caused damage to the ceiling at the Visitors Information Centre (VIC) in Coonabarabran, which now needs repairs, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Denis Todd. To allow for the...se repairs the VIC has temporarily relocated to Dalgarno Street, opposite Woolworths, and will continue to operate throughout this time The VIC will be situated in Dalgarno Street for at least 2 months, with the ceiling renovations estimated to take around 6 weeks, assuming no further damage is found. Costs associated with this work and relocation are being claimed through Council’s insurances. The entire VIC retail and merchandise area along with the VIC Administration Office and the Coonabarabran History Group have been packed up and will start to move this week, with the aim of opening in the new temporary location on Monday 6 July 2020, Cr Todd explained. Services including local tourism information, Visitor Information Centre souvenirs, brochures, suggested travel routes and new information about COVID-19 restriction changes with operators such as opening hours, social restrictions and changed services, will all be available at the new location.
