15.01.2022 SWIMMING POOL SEASON 2020/21: Swimming pool season is here and there are some changes to the town pools to make for an enjoyable summer. Swimming pools are set to open in October 2020 and there have been a few changes made for this season to ensure all community members have the best experience at our public pools, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. Some of these changes include electronic swimming pool access keys and the half season ticket... option. Electronic access keys will be the biggest change this season and will improve the way individuals access the pools during ‘no lifeguard’ hours. It will also allow Council to monitor the times community members have accessed pools which will provide data for improved timetabling for future seasons, explained Cr Doolan. Patrons will be able to obtain an electronic swipe card from the pool lifeguard on request when purchasing a season ticket. The first swipe card will be free, with additional or replacement cards at a cost of $20, said Cr Doolan. A half season ticket option is available this year, allowing individuals and families to purchase a season ticket for either the first or second half of the swimming pool season. This will help to spread the cost of season tickets across the season or give people the option of using the pools more at the time of year they choose, Cr Doolan explained. The pools at Coolah, Coonabarabran and Dunedoo open for the season on 3 October 2020, with Baradine opening on 17 October 2020, and Binnaway and Mendooran opening on 31 October 2020. For information on swimming pool timetables, dates of the 2020/21 swimming pool season, fee and charges, and booking forms visit Council’s website.

13.01.2022 NEW INFRASTRUCTURE ENSURING WATER SECURITY FOR MENDOORAN: Additional water supplies for the Mendooran Township have been secured by upgrading and connecting the Old River Pump Station in Mendooran. Emergency funding was secured from the NSW Government through the Drought and Emergency Relief for Regional Town Water Supplies to ensure water security for Mendooran by upgrading and connecting the Old River Pump Station, said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambros...e Doolan. Having another Pump Station operational in Mendooran will allow for additional water supplies for the residents in times of severe drought. This funding has been used to install a new electrical control cabinet and purchase a new pump as well as the integration of the Old River Pump Station into the Water Treatment Plant, Cr Doolan explained. The Old River Pump Station is located downstream of the township approximately 100m from the bridge. This Pump Station was originally Mendooran’s primary water supply source prior to the new Water Treatment Plant being built, so it is great to see it restored to working order for the township, said Cr Doolan. Council engaged a contractor to install this new infrastructure which commenced July 2020. Council is very thankful to the NSW Government for this funding allowing Mendooran residents the water security they need to future proof their town, said Cr Doolan. The new infrastructure has now been commissioned and can be operational at any point in time going forward which will secure Mendooran’s water supply for the future, concluded Cr Doolan.
