24.01.2022 To support our Year 11 and 12 students as they edge closer to the end of their school year, Red Frogs presented their Party Safe program today. Red Frogs is an Australia-wide program that educates young people about positive peer influences and safe partying behaviours, as well as supporting them at social events such as Leavers Week and music festivals. Our presenter, Cameron, challenged students perceptions on alcohol consumption and recreational drug use, and empowered... students to be socially responsible when dealing with peer pressure and consent. Volunteers compared their estimates of a standard drink for various alcohols (using water!) with the actual amount, and walked the line wearing drunk simulation goggles to understand the effects of intoxication. While the topics covered were sometimes a little confronting, these are real life lessons that we hope will help keep our students safe. And the red frogs at the end of the session were delicious! #redfrogsaustralia
23.01.2022 Nineteen students from the Schools Creating the Dream and Follow the Dream programs participated in a cultural workshop at Yanchep National Park today. Students worked with Elder Uncle Noel; Jason Barrow from Kurongkurl Katitjin, Edith Cowan University (ECU); and Bec Garlett and Jason Boundry. Throughout the day students worked to improve their Noongar language skills and had the opportunity to learn more about Cultural practices. Many thanks to Tina Deegan and her team from the Follow the Dream Outreach program for coordinating this excursion. It was a great day, enjoyed by one and all!
23.01.2022 Netball Challenge Cup Carnival Well done to all netball students that participated and helped at our annual house netball carnival today. This carnival has an emphasis on fun and inclusiveness. All year groups are mixed up in their houses, playing with and against various age groups. ... It is always a great feeling seeing our older netball students mentor and coach the younger students throughout the day. This is something that Warwick students always do well. Although we emphasize fun, winning is also fun... The overall winning team today was Kimberley 1. Defeating Stirling 2 in the grand final. 17 to 10. And the game that engages the crowd the most is always the Teacher vs Year 12 students. Teachers took a comfortable win this year, with MVP definitely going to Mrs Soltoggio for her agile shuffle shot movement and accurate shooting in GS! Thank you to Mr Tomlinson, Mrs Kirkby, Mr Pesce, Mr Pelletier, Miss Sainty and Mrs Soltoggio for coming down for the game! Thank you, Miss Barber :)

It was fantastic to see so many awards and celebrations happening for our Year 7 students. Keep up the great work.
19.01.2022 Those reading the The Australian this morning would have seen a familiar face. Year 12 student Alana was asked for her thoughts on how selecting her courses in Year 10 for Senior School would be enhanced by having a better knowledge about the standards expected. Taking higher level maths, science and English courses opens up pathways and opportunities. #take2stem

19.01.2022 Our biggest school event this year was our House Athletics Carnival, held last week. The Audio Visual Club has compiled this video, capturing some of the best moments from the day. It was a superb occasion, with great participation and competition among all athletes. Track and field, novelty events, a quiz and a walking relay all contributed to the overall points. Leading from start to finish were Stirling, this year's champions!

12.01.2022 Warwick Senior High School is a proudly multicultural school that welcomes students from dozens of backgrounds. This is because we have strong leaders, like School Captains Alana and Holly, who stand up and speak out, and support their fellow students. Today, our school declared that racism stops with us. We stood behind a statement that declares the action we will take if racism rears its head. * We speak up when we see racism. We tell the perpetrator to stop and that their ...actions are offensive. * We support the victim and let them know that they are not alone. * We tell someone, whether that be a teacher, the human rights commission or the police. 12.01.2022 Over the last few weeks, Mr Johnson our HOLA of Science, has been running incursion / excursion events with Year 5 students from some of our feeder primary schools. 09.01.2022 Warwick SHS engages with a number of outreach organisations to support Indigenous secondary students to reach their potential and explore pathways towards tertiary studies, further training, and employment. It has been both a busy and exciting last few weeks as the following activities testify: Year 8 students Jannika and Luvata gained selection to attend the UWA Discovery Day, introducing students to the university environment through a range of hands-on activities at differ...ent study areas on campus. Year 7-8 Creating the Dream students Luvata, Rueben, Brandan, Sharniel, Etty, Lashante and Ozyfa participated in an overnight camp at St Catherine’s College (UWA). Students enjoyed a series of challenge and cultural activities. Year 9-10 Creating/Follow the Dream students Jamie, Ollie, Angus, Hayden, Trent, Jamahl, Brodie, Charlize and Corey travelled to Dwellingup for a 3 day camp where the focus was on personal challenge, teamwork and goal setting. Congratulations to all Warwick students who said a big ‘yes’ to new opportunities! None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of the Follow the Dream Outreach Program, the Graham Polly Farmer Foundation and the UWA School of Indigenous Studies #aspirelearngrow #warwickthentheworld #alwayswasalwayswillbe

09.01.2022 Warwick's NAIDOC Week celebrations for 2020 were epic. The week kicked off on Monday with Home Economics students preparing kangaroo stew and damper to share and a learning through cooking class with the most fabulous Marissa from Bindi Bindi Dreaming for the Year 7-9 Creating the Dream students, and Year 10-12 Follow the Dream students. On Tuesday we welcomed former student Katelan Stack (2013) in her capacity as Miss NAIDOC Perth to speak with current students. Art was the ...focus on Thursday with the a start of a canvas that will be unveiled at a later date. Our students and staff, already committed to #racismitstopswithme, issued a challenge to schools around Australia to stand with us. And on Friday, students and staff headed to the amphitheatre to hear Flewnt and DJ Optamus. Noongar hip hop artist Flewnt and DJ Optamus have performed at numerous rallies and festivals and are heavily involved in their community. Flewnt's anthemic celebration of Noongar culture, Kya Kyana, put him on the musical map in 2018 with runner up WAM Song of the Year. The week ended with the exciting news that School Captain Alana Dooley was awarded Naidoc Perth's Education Achievement Award for 2020. A big shout out to all those who made such a great week possible: Jade Muli (AIEO) coordinated the week's activities with the support of many staff; Mrs Cotter's Year 8 and 10 Home Economics classes; Marissa Verma of Bindi Bindi Dreaming; Year 7-10 Creating the Dream and Year 10-12 Follow the Dream students, who pitched in and supported all events. And to the Senior Student Council who coordinated the #racismitstopswithme activities. And a very special mention goes to the Year 10 Certificate I Leadership students who took on the coordination of Friday's performance featuring Flewnt and Optimus; from the set up, cooking up a sausage sizzle and emceeing the event. Great job boys! Now to start planning for 2021! National NAIDOC Public education in Western Australia Graham Polly Farmer Foundation #naidocweek2020 #alwayswasalwayswillbe
