24.01.2022 IOFA is an example of the need to find a balance between lock-down and supporting an economy that allows businesses to operate. An award-winning seafood company that is now hibernating.

23.01.2022 Here's a good tip if you are in Albany over the weekend!

22.01.2022 August was a busy month and you’ll see why in our latest newsletter. Check out what’s been happening across the commercial seafood sector at https://mailchi.mp//wafic-june-2020-edition-newsletter-139

21.01.2022 That's a good looking seafood platter, but could do with a #westernrocklobster or two!

20.01.2022 Celebrate the start of the new year with a trip to Fremantle to pick up some fresh local lobsters straight from the back of the boat. That’s right. The fishing boats will be back alongside at 28 Mews Road, Fremantle with fresh, live #westernrocklobster straight from the Back of Boats this Thursday, 7 January between 9am and 11am. As always there are no pre-orders, so it’s first come, first served, but don’t delay as each boat only has 200 lobsters and they always sell out qui...ckly. Back of Boat Western Rock Lobster sales are cash only and you will need to bring a bag/box/esky with ice to take your 'catch' home. Visit the official Local Lobster Program Buy & Sell Facebook page to find out more.

16.01.2022 How could you not love Fremantle in winter? Blue skies and barely a breeze.

15.01.2022 Great night. Thanks to the Clancy's team for putting on a fantastic showcase for this tasty new crab. And special thanks to Clam-bassador Tom for organising it.

14.01.2022 This looks like an amazing way to spend a day. Calm water, sunny weather and lots of crabs.

14.01.2022 LAST DAYS FOR AWARD APPLICATIONS. Applications must close tomorrow at 5pm, so get yours submitted ASAP. You’ll find all you need at: https://www.wafic.org.au/event/2021-state-seafood-awards

14.01.2022 Having trouble re-fuelling or accessing your pens? We understand the highly successful Wander out Yonder campaign has resulted in a huge number of Western Australians travelling throughout the state, booking out accommodation, restaurants and campgrounds. There’s a lot of happy campers out there. But this regional influx is creating problems and we are also seeing a nautical version, which we’re calling - Boating out Beyond with owners of larger recreational vessels travel...ling up and down the coast with family and friends joining them on the road. The surge in regional boating has seen commercial vessels NOT being able to access refuelling because visiting recreational boats have chosen to use these sites as an interim mooring spot. It is unfortunate that some of these out-of-towners are not abiding by the well-known rule of obeying the local protocol. And it’s especially evident on days like today in the build-up to a long weekend and to school holidays. Very frustrating! If you do experience anything like this, it is essential that you please contact your port manager, ports do not want to see this happen but they do need your eyes on the water. Most ports have on-site camera facilities, please ensure you call your port manager immediately so they can follow-up and quickly rectify this situation. We don’t want to see a minority of out-of-towners causing a problem and creating local frictions.

13.01.2022 Here’s a fun online tool that is part of Seafood Industry Australia’s new marketing campaign that can help you find local fish retailers, as well as fish and chip shops. I can see myself using this while on a drive holiday in coming weeks. http://www.greataustralianseafood.com.au/fish-finder/

12.01.2022 Check out this new video which features the WA sand crabs which will soon be on the menu at Clancy’s Fish Pubs. Great to see one of our lesser-known seafood varieties being discovered. https://youtu.be/rsK3mVfFyfM

11.01.2022 Get fresh lobster delivered to your door for Christmas.

10.01.2022 Mannie Shea is having a wander out yonder in Broome and sent through these photos from the Broome Courthouse Markets today. Great to see so much locally caught seafood promoted on the menu. Support our local seafood.

10.01.2022 Upgrades to the popular Canal Rocks boat ramp and jetty have now commenced with the jetty steelworks and concrete ramp deck sections, which are being manufactured offsite, scheduled to be transported to Canal Rocks in mid-January 2021 to coincide with the arrival of specialised construction equipment. The existing boating facilities at Canal Rocks will remain open to the public over Christmas and New Year’s, during the peak of the local fishing season. In mid-January, the ...site will close for the onsite construction phase of the project and in April 2021, the new and safe boating facilities are set to be open. Updates will be posted on the development/status of the project on the Parks and Wildlife Service, Western Australia Facebook page at each key stage as well as direct contact with key stakeholders.

05.01.2022 Today's your last chance to have your say on the current Country of Origin Labelling regulations for food The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources is working with Deloitte Access Economics to evaluate the current regulations and all businesses and industry stakeholders are invited to give their feedback. 05.01.2022 Changes to lobster laws mean commercial rock lobster fishers can now sell up to 100 lobsters per day directly from the back of their boat to supply local restaurants, fresh fish retailers and the public. The changes are a direct outcome of lobbying from peak industry body, Western Rock Lobster, in response to the dramatic decline in export demand for western rock lobster as a result of COVID-19. Under the amendments, each of the 230 boats in the fishery can now land up to 100... lobsters each fishing trip to sell from the back of boat. 02.01.2022 A reminder the Federal Government's Country of Origin Labelling review evaluation online survey closes this Friday, 11 September. This is an important opportunity for the industry to make origin labelling mandatory for Australian seafood sold in the food service sector, just like it is in the retail sector. So please, click on the link below and make your thoughts known. https://consult.industry.gov.au//evaluation-of-country-of/

01.01.2022 It's great to see another major WA hotel embracing the Buy Local message. Keep an eye out for more from Pan Pacific as chef Alejandro Saravia has some exciting news coming up for seafood lovers.
