There are an estimated 4,324 households with grandparents providing caring for grandchildren aged birth to 18 years in metropolitan Perth. Communities acknowledges the additional stress and pressure on informal grandparent carers and provides funding support through a range of services and programs, including almost $600,000 annual funding to Wanslea Inc. to deliver support to Grandparent Carers.
