23.01.2022 Day 4 from Kobe, Japan..... The second day of the Kobe Futsal Festa 2014. Just like yesterday the WA SFL5 had an early start with a training session at the Kobe Green Arena followed by lunch at the Hotel and a video session to best prepare the big match ahead of them.... In the last game of the "Group of Death" the boys from the West were up against the local Professional Futsal Team, Kobe Deução. The Japanese side finished second in the Japanese F-League last season, (the club's best finish in 5 years) and amongst their players had 4 current Japan National Futsal team players and current AFC Champions. Last year's Kobe Futsal Festa campaign failure was surely put aside by the Local Futsal superstars as they stormed onto the very young and inexperienced SFL5 and, by using a very high game intensity as their main weapon, they went up 5 nil at half time. The young Oz side come out fighting from the change rooms at half time though and with a different game structure fought back creating a lot more chances, giving the local side a few worries and also scoring a goal, but all wasn't enough as Kobe slotted two more goals and the game ended 7 1. It was a "hard day at the office" for the Western Australia SFL5 but lots of positives can be taken out of this game and the main one is the "never die" attitude that the boys have been showing throughout the whole tour. A special mention today has to go to the goal scorer Caleb Dixon, as he's only been playing Futsal for one season and got his first goal at International Level. The Western Australia SFL5 have now a day of rest and will then play in the final for 5th and 6th place vs Japanese F-League U23 Selection on Sunday at 12.30pm local time. Stay tuned for more news!!

03.01.2022 Day 3 from Kobe, Japan.... The big day finally arrived, the start of the Kobe Futsal Festa 2014. The WA SFL5 had an early start with a training session at the Kobe Green Arena followed by lunch at the Hotel and a video session to best prepare the big match ahead of them.... The young Oz side was up against a very experienced Futsal team from Latvia, FK Nikars Riga, that has amongst it's players the current captain of the Portugal National Futsal Team, Arnaldo Pereira. The experience and the clinical goal finishing of the current Latvian Futsal League champions, had the better of the two sides and the WA SFL5 lost their first game of the Kobe Futsal Festa 2014, 6 to 1. The score didn't really reflect what actually happened during the game though, as the young Oz side dominated parts of the game and created various goal scoring opportunities but they were denied from scoring by the woodwork (three times) and by some great saves of the Latvian GK. The only goal of the game for the WA SFL5 was scored by the Captain of the team Luke Tidy after some good work by Adriano Martino on the right flank. Tomorrow the WA SFL5 is up against the Japanese giants of Kobe Deução, the local team finished second in the last F-League and will be featuring four Japan National Futsal team members. Stay tuned for more!!

01.01.2022 Day 6 from Kobe, Japan...... The last day of the the Kobe Futsal Festa 2014....the day of the finals....the games scheduled were: Final #1 ... WA SFL5 vs F-League u23 Selection Final #2 Kobe Deução vs ABC Campo Grande Grand Final SWH Futsal Club vs FK Nikars Riga The young Oz side was up first at 11.30am local time. The boys had another very difficult task ahead of them, a Selection of all the best u23 players from the F-League, a team that represents the future of futsal for Japan. At the Kick off both teams had recorded "0" wins in the Futsal Tournament and they both were determined to change that stat, however it was the young side from Japan that, by taking their chances, started to build quite a solid lead. At half time our boys were down 5 0. As it happened in every game played to date in Japan, the SFL5 came out roaring from the change room and wanting to get the game back on track but it wasn't enough as the Japanese side were determined to show Mr Miguel Rodrigo (Japan National Futsal Team Head Coach), who was overlooking the game, that Japanese Futsal has definitely a bright future, and slotted 4 more goals. Despite the result, the boys from the West kept on fighting and were rewarded with a goal scored by young rising futsal star Liam Merigan and set up by Helcius Correia. The game ended 9 to 1. After the game the boys stayed to watch the other two games, which saw Kobe Deução claiming the 3rd place after beating ABC Campo Grande 2 nil and FK Nikars Riga claiming the top of the championship by beating SWH Futsal Club 8 to 3. All of the teams then went on to Cafe' Fish to celebrate the end of the tournament and every team got awarded with an MVP Award. For the SFL5 the award went to Victor Brauner, who received as a prize a pair of the latest Asics Futsal shoes. The celebration night was followed by more celebrations as a convoy of players from all of the teams, headed by Kobe Deução superstar Thiago, went on to a nightclub in the heart of Kobe City. Free day for the SFL5 today who are schedule to visit the city of Kyoto followed by dinner at a Brazilian restaurant at Port Kobe, with the team's good friend and big supporter Kazu-San. Say tuned for more!
